I want to see if they'll allow random playroom streams once Ustream is gone. They might as well with all the crap they're adding.

I'm pretty open, but this is one of those things I just can't understand. Watching someone else eat is just going to make me hungry... And it's also kinda really gross staring at someone chomping down on meat. When you're in a social setting eating you don't really think about it, but when you have to just stare at it... it's just awkward.

I think governments should do something to encourage basic human interaction. Technology is nice and all, but there is a limit for everything.

*They do it to simulate a social situation. The viewer is not socializing.

lol you sound like those people who say you can't have internet friends. There's interactions going on between the viewers and the streamer. Simulation or not, lonely viewers may not feel so lonely during and after.

People do it to socialize. Especially people who live by themselves, they can feel like they're eating with someone. It's crazy popular in South Korea lol

Obviously we're all here having a conversation on a forum right now, so I don't think anyone is saying digital interaction is bad. But it's worrisome if people are using digital substitutes to such an extreme that they're viewing other people eat as a means of feeling like they're sharing a meal with someone who's not really there.

But maybe i'm just the old man yelling at clouds here.

Don't see anything wrong with it really. Twitch is expanding outside of games and while it's still a main part of their viewership this doesn't hurt.

And I don't see why people in this thread are acting like a social eating channel is shocking. This world consumes so much digital media. I mean we watch food challenges etc. this could be interesting.

Twitch needs to put up a social drinking category next lol

I already didn't get the appeal of streaming. Now its like we've crossed over into the fucking Twilight Zone.

The post I was looking for. Even as someone who worked in media, I just don't get the appeal of watching someone eat. Cooking sure, but just eating?

Completely agreed. And I'd like to think I'm not that old. (22)

I'll subscribe when I can watch someone sleep.

That isn't a new thing and not exactly uncommon. Heck, I just have a stream open with a girl that is sleeping because I wanted to post a screenshot. But it feels so wrong doing that, so I refrain from it.

I once watched a guy wash his dishes for 2 hours on Twitch. Quite a novelty to watch him get donations during that.

How does it take 2 hours to wash your dishes?

I actually kind of think eating in front of people other than family and close friends is a little weird. On the other hand I do like watching the occasional food challenge. Count me in for this.

I thought ASMR was the stupidest shit ever, and none ever worked on me. Until this one, I have been converted and it's amazing:

I was dying of laughter watching this.

I agree with you.

Whenever someone brings up twitch or any of those other streaming services it just baffles me that people watch them. Regardless of who/what is streaming, I just don't see the entertainment in it.

Maybe I'm just too old, but my free time is very limited with job and kids and when I have a break I don't want to sit around watching someone else play video games, talk, eat, poop, play guitar, watch movies, etc.

I'd rather do all those things myself, thanks.

Lol my sentiments exactly

This is going to attract a lot of those people that jack it to people overeating, huh?

Twitch is going to become a creepy softcore porn site.
