What age do you want to die?

Kind of spurred on by the 150 years or a billion thread, but a different question entirely: What would be the proper age for you to die? 35? 50? 80? As long as you can stay on this earth?

This is a question that undoubtably changes with factors such as a significant other or, mainly, children/grand children, but for now:

When do you want to die?

Myself, not having kids or anything really tying me down at this moment, 60-70ish. Old enough without getting to the point where things get really just not fun. I'm sure it'll change if I get that old, but from where I'm sitting right now on the mortal coil it seems like it would be awful to be over 85.

I'm thankful for every healthy day that I have.

I have no idea. I would love to be as healthy as I can be for as long as possible.

Men on my fathers side of the family tend not to live very long, at least from what I know so far, so around 80?

But if I could be quite spritely at that age then is have no issues living longer, I enjoy my life.

YOLO!

If you live to 100 in Sweden, you get a letter/get to meet the king.

I'd like that.

If I can get to 70 without shitting myself constantly or going to the hospital weekly for dialysis/chemo/whatever or getting lost in the grocery store, I'll take it in a heartbeat.

When I was a kid I read somewhere that the average life expectancy was 70 years. I dunno if that was correct, but that number has always stuck me. It's probably a lot higher now, but if I could choose when to die it'd be at age 70. It just seems like a right number.

Depends on what country you live in and what gender you are.

If there aren't any breakthroughs in longevity and regenerative medicine, then 40. Hate the idea of getting old and not being able to do things.

100 if I can stay reasonably healthy and sound of mind. If those reach a critical low, well, I think I'd rather die sooner than later then.

You can still do everything at the age of 40.

I think early to mid 70's would be a good time to go. I dunno, I've done a lot of work in retirement homes and there is absolutely nothing appealing to me about that kind of life. Even if you don't have any major medical concerns and can still function on a regular basis... there are a lot of everyday aches and pains that you have to deal with.

Now, I'm saying this as a single male in his mid 20's. If I end up with a family then I could certainly see a change in my current attitude.

Depends on my mood when I'm thinking about it. Generally, if I think about death it's because I'm feeling down, and I kinda look forward to it. But I don't know, I'd rather die sooner and happy after having enjoyed life than old and bitter (which is what's probably going to happen, time runs faster each year).

As long as I am mentally healthy and capable of learning I want to be alive.

I think I could live 10,000 - 15,000 years before deciding I had enough, but it is very hard to say. There certainly is a limit to the amount of things I could learn, experience, and master before becoming bored with existence. I'll pick 12,796 years.

I was supposed to be dead at 7 so every day I'm lucky to wake up.

Maybe 80. That seems like so far away but at that point I'd probably be tired of everything, and watching people die. However if technology improves enough that virtual worlds are the bee's knees for old retirement home people, give me 20 more years as I become a star ship trooper level 90 with relics and crap.

Basically I want to know where I am and still have control of my bodily functions.

Hoping I will be in my 80's and still have that.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

Some age preceding Alzheimer's or dementia if I will get those in old age. And if I have a stroke that renders me bed ridden and more delusional as time wears on, please just kill me.

As long as I'm healthy, happy and independent I want to live. Bing alive but completely fucked up and suffering isn't being alive.

I'd like to live to at least 1000. It really depresses me that we aren't putting more money into life-extension research.
