What are the best end credits in a game?

Front Mission 3

Clover Studios and then Platinum Games afterwards have made the best game credits sequences IMO.

Okami, God Hand, Bayonetta, Vanquish

Devil May Cry 3. Playing Devils Never Cry while you slaughter dozens of demons alongside Lady never gets old. What's cool is that you earn the secret ending if you kill 100 of them before the credits end.

Metal Gear Solid 3. Kojima knows how to end a game, man. This is right up there with The Best is Yet to Come, IMO.

Kingdom Hearts is definitely another one. The little scenes showing you, the music playing, and then Dearly Beloved waiting for you at the end? Perfect

Persona 4 also delivered at the end. I was sad to see the game end, it was like parting with good friends. That track playing while the train rolls down the track (at least that's the effect) was so good.

Someone get this man a medal. I came here to say Kingdom Hearts and you reminded me of so many other favorites.

Also, I know it's been said a lot already, but I have to say Red Dead Redemption. Apart from the fact that you don't even truly reach the credits until after the false ending, which was such a smart move, they play one of the most beautiful (and fitting) songs ever in an ending credits sequence:

(I tried to look up how to embed youtube videos to no luck :P )

Dead Man's Gun by Ashtar Command. I listened to that song over and over after beating the game and just cried. Hahahaha

(I happen to find John Marston's story to be one of the most touching I've ever experienced.)

Also: This is my first post on Gaf! Finally got accepted! :D

A Link to the Past
From the moment you enter the light and the Triforce appears, all the way until the credits end. You get music that makes you feel heroic, and as if all your effort had meaning.

The dark world returning to normal, the lives of those you helped. Perfect

Link's Awakening
The impressive visuals of the much talked about Wind Fish, the notion that by leaving the dream world, means the end of everything and everyone you met. To the glimmer of hope as you find yourself stranded in the middle of the ocean, with nothing in sight.

Ocarina of Time
Seeing Ganon defeated, and being sealed away (the events only mentioned in ALttP, but never seen)

Whilst not as successful as the ending from ALttP, there is still a nice feeling seeing all the characters you came across living their lives in peace, and that awesome version of Princess Zelda's theme.

Not to mention the minor head-fu_k at the end with Young Link meeting Zelda, and holding the Triforce of Courage

Majora's Mask
One of those times where the ending reflects your level of involvement with the game itself. Depending on how many of the character's lives you became involved with, would determine the ending you get.

Two moments that get to you everytime are Anju and Kaefi's union, and the Deku Butler mourning his lost son.

Skyward Sword

As much as you may like or loathe Fi. Her farewell and fate will tug at your emotions.

Seeing the whole adventure from Zelda's perspective was a stroke of genius, and then the implications of the final moments. That being the moment that Hyrule was founded, and the arrival of the Triforce for the first time, on the world, and what troubles would arrive from it.

Twilight Princess
Some nice ending shots, and filled with poignant moments. Ganondorf loosing the Triforce's grace. Zant's symbolism of breaking his neck. Ganondorf dieing on his feet. Midna's true form. THE MUSIC. Midna's goodbye, and the final shot of the Triforce symbol above the throne!

What? You're just gonna throw Four Swords' ending under the bus like that?? ;D

It was Wind Waker's end credits that let the whole thing down. The King drowning with the kingdom, and Ganondorf's impaling were great moments. The music was wonderful, but the credits were dull dull dull.

Probably because of loading times with the Disc etc, not allowing them to move from area to area instantly to show us different moments.

Oh, this is the credits thread. I mixed this up with the "best post credits cutscene" thread.

Lots of people still don't know to this day that you can attack the silhouettes and mirages while the credits roll in the US version of the game. Since you get to control the boss character, you have access to most/all of his special attacks.

There's also a smash bros-like game as a secret for the US version.

Yep. I went to find a video of the credits and the person who filmed it just left it standing still. I remember the Vs mode too. Such a classic, even with Working Design's weapon system tweaks. I wish so much that it would get released on PSN so I could play it on Vita.

Mystic Quest
I never enjoy playing RPGs, but I watched my brother play through this one, and I always remember liking the ending to this one. The music as the boat sails off, and the seagull sounds.

Good call. I loved that part as a kid. +bro points
