What are you favorite attacks in gaming? Why?

I can't find a gif of it, but the double jump attack from revenge of shinobi/shinobi 3 etc is fucking great and overpowered

In multiplayer games: Generally speaking shooting someone with shotgun from behind a corner and/or smashing them with a melee to face.
Or anything else that causes people scream in rage and complaining about it being unfair or overpowered or something like that.
There ain't no place for fairness in battle.

In single player games... eh, triggering decapitation finisher in Skyrim.

Guy's Ultra 2 makes me moist.

Also, K's Chain Drive (KOF XIII) is fucking amazing. (Can't find gif).

And, being a Gouken main:
gouken-s-ultra-1-o.gif

Feels so good when I land it.

Invoker's Sunstrike in Dota 2. It's not just the wheeeeeeoooouuuuuuBOOOSH noise it makes, it's that it requires a lot of skill and when you land it you know you just outsmarted the poor victim.

Light Speed Attack in Sonic Adventure 2. Specially against that Mutant Water Badnik in Crazy Gadget.

*charge *charge* *charge* *charge*

READYYYYYYYYYYYY...... GO!!

*blast**blast**blast*blastblastblastblast*spin* *spin* blastBLASTBLAST!!

Gotta say DOTA2 does have an awful lot of very, very satisfying attacks. Effects, sounds and game-effects (damage, debuffs/buffs, etc.).

Of late, I love the cat dive in 3DWorld. So satisfying to use, it's essentially a dive kick in a platformer

Stealth kills in Mark of the Ninja are also very fun and have a satisfying component.

And historically, I've enjoyed Sabin's Blitz moves in FFVI.

I was a big FG fan at the time, with SFII arcade being still pretty popular, so having SF commands was a fun mechanic in an RPG.

Kirby's A + Foward Smash attack slays in Smash Bros Brawl. It's so satisfying when that shit connects.

Also when Marth's charged up smash attacks hits, theirs a slightly frame rate pause in Smash Bros Brawl that happens. That's the games way of telling you that you that you just wrecked someone

So satisfying watching those red dots disappear from the mini map, one by one. Then you could use your frozen enemies as cover.

Iron Tager from Blazblue is the most satisfying character I've played in a fighting game. All his moves are so damaging when they hit. The combo characters will spend a minute juggling you in the air, but if they don't watch themselves I can repay all their damage in a 2-3 hit combo or throw. Part of what made Soul Calibur satisfying was slamming someone into the air, but Tager makes your opponent wait for it. If I hit them with tager's throw special, it's going to take off near half their life bar, but first both players have to wait for the animation to complete, and that 4ish seconds of waiting for what both of you know is going to kick the shit out of their life bar is so goddamn satisfying. I've saved so many fights with a perfectly timed throw, the kind of throw that immediately changes your opponent's tactics because they're so shaken.

Plus, because of Tager's magnetism, tons of moves draw the opponent towards him, which gives you the feeling of being in control, as long as the opponent is magnetized. The opponent's game is to play keep away, cause once Tager is in control, they'll be batted around the stage like a toy (Disclaimer: I'm not playing at top levels or anything, where I know Tager has some challenges).

Hard to find a non-competition video of it, so I'll include this video: http://youtu.be/Yp8KOM2zw98?t=59s showing Tager's 3 types of throw specials. So good.

From Wonderful 101 - spoiler heavy

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow... Fire!

This!
For me the Wonderful 101 has so many great moves that you can use in battle (except for Unite Glider) but I think my favourite has to be
Wonderful Forever.

Aside from that though my choices would be the Falcon Punch (Super Smash Bros.) and Scorpion's "get over here!" (Mortal Kombat).

Kakashi's Thousand Years of Death that can be used as a counter move in nearly all of his Clash of Ninja appearances.

(note that this is a picture from the anime for a visual representation, and not an in-game screen)

The tentacle explosion attack in Prototype. Kills everything! Soldiers, civilians, infected, tanks, helicopters! I love the Prototype series so much.

Dudley's standard attacks when used in combos in SF3 3rd Strike.

Jump in RH, st.RH x EX MGB (to the corner), jab.MGBx4, short.SSBxxSAIII.

Where the heck is SRT in this thread (only one in the first page, we need more)?

I give a nod to DaiRaiOh's Jinrai (Alpha 3 was the first time I ever did imports, so it holds a special place when it comes to SR series)

Runner up is NeoGranzon (all of its attacks) cause Shu is a badass

Honestly it's hard to narrow down my favorite attacks from the SR series (heck even the GBA versions have pretty good special attacks)

Why? The animation is orgasmic in the later entries of this series. You thought KoTR in FF7 was long then you haven't played enough SRW with animations on

Zell's special attack in Final Fantasy VIII, goddamn I was so good at it that I defeated the Giant Kyactus by using that move only! <3

Zandatsu.

Because it's a special move that can be different every time.

And also it's how you replenish your energy.

Also, K's Chain Drive (KOF XIII) is fucking amazing. (Can't find gif).

Here's how it used to look.

Ryo's Neo Max from KOF XIII

The way he patiently rolls his arm back, you know a finisher is coming. Even time stops once the move starts, so it can save your life if it connects and you're down to the last second.

put me in the Golden Sun camp. The summons were so over the top and absolutely amazing for the hardware

my favourite? Judgement

Tiger Uppercut has one of the crunchiest animations ever, that makes it look powerful. Can't find a GIF ATM.

Not close to my favourite, but what first came to mind when I saw the thread title.

My first thought: The shoryuken.

More specifically, this one.

Shin_Shoryuken.gif

No life, one chance left at victory and nail it with that one?

Climax.

2nd fave:
Ken-hurricane-ts.gif

Tiger Uppercut gets my respect. Dat Tiger Knee, doe.

I love every single ultimate jutsu in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (the first one). My favorite was Saskue's Chidori. It blew me away when I first saw it. All that lightning, and the way he just pulls his arm away is so cool. You can tell CC2 loved making this game.
Uchiha love is best love.

The batclaw pull thing where Batman drags the bad guys towards him and punch them into the ground with his elbow in the Arkham games.

I'll see that and raise you the ground take down; except instead of the face, he's aiming for the groin area. He hits them so hard in the balls, they pass. the fuck. out.

When Link rolls around an enemy and uppercut slashes them in Windwaker.

Lucas' Up Smash and Luigi's perfect Up B with the PWII~INNG in Brawl and hard hitting Meteor Smash moves (like Ness, Samus and Ganondorf)

Any axe kick in any fighting game ever.

Centurion Arts in UMvC3

They all feel like they have so much power behind them, it's awesome

Any of Pang Tong's old attacks from Warriors Orochi 2/Dynasty Warriors 5 and before. Specifically, his 3rd charge string.

He was very acrobatic back then, and a lot of fun to use. It was super satisfying to nail an enemy officer with a series of backwards handsprings performed by a rather short man with a staff.

Randy M. Green's tornado spell in Guardian Heoroes.

The Saturn version is especially epic with the accompanying slow-down.

Can't find a gif. Somebody find me a gif!

Red hot kick (and it's variants in other games)

Amazing positioning tool in every gane it's in.

I really loved setting up AOE attacks in Dragon Age: Origins by pausing the game, zooming out, sending a character over to a nice spot, pausing again, lining up the attack.

All while other characters herd the enemies into the right position. I find the combat in both games to be deeply rewarding and a lot of fun. It's tactical but also speedy and extremely flexible. I never would have guessed I'd enjoy that kind of system so much before playing it.

Max Payne's Shootdodge:

Scoring three or four headshots in slow motion before you hit the ground and then, just as you land, watching all the mook's bodies crumple in real time is one of gaming's sweetest and greatest joys.

Bonus move: using the Shotgun as a Bo Staff in Ken Yeung's wonderful Kung Fu Mod.

Gotta give it to the Golden Sun games (at least the first two, I haven't played the third, but this seems to be intact there as well) for having fucking absurd special attacks, especially considering that it was on the GBA of all things.

I mean, the fucking critical hit animation for one of the weapons is launching a meteor at the enemy. And while all of the summons are ridiculous, I have to give a shoutout to dragging your enemies into the fucking sun.

man golden sun was pretty cool sometimes
