What console has the best game library?

From back in the NES days to the present, which console ha had the best most diverse lineup of games? My choice...................ps1, not only did it have great 2d titles, but 3d as well. Yes, handhelds count...

PS2 or DS if your looking for sheer amount of decent games.

Also there both backward compatable, giving there libararies unmatched depth.

It'll always be the PS2, just because it has two of the biggest and better libraries of gaming history.

PS3 came close but dropped BC halfway through.

Whatever console has the games I like. Right now, the Wii, tomorrow, the Ps3, or the Wii, or the Xbox, or master race.

Doesn't matter. It's all about my preferences. F objectivity.

Wii, easily.

You've got Wii, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, TG-16, Genesis, Master System, Neo Geo, C64, and Arcade titles all available for one box.

Most diverse doesn't always mean best!

I enjoy the overall Dreamcast library the most, but a lot of it is arcade ports. But that's what I love, and there you go.

People will say what they love. And that's the thread.

We can do better than this. :/

Can we? With a thread concept as completely subjective as this? It depends not only on genre favorites but also no doubt company leanings will also factor in. Nobody will objectively compare the actual game libraries of any systems, they'll just go by how it "feels" to them based on their memories and tastes.

Well, I mean, I think we can avoid really base level topics like this, I think if we're going to have them the OP could put more than 15 seconds into them, and if the OP doesn't, people could still spend more than 15 seconds responding. Anything is better than a bunch of faceless people using one word answers against each other and probably not even reading the other replies to the thread.

I'm going to go against the crowd here and say PS1:

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil 1-3
Silent Hill
Spyro 1-3
Crash Bandicoot
Final Fantasy VII - IX
Final Fantasy Tactics
Gran Turismo
Tomb Raider
Tony Hawk games
Syphon Filter
Breath of Fire 3

Just way too many good nostalgia childhood games for me :)

PS3 coming in 2nd.

:lol

PS2. It's 2001 exclusives alone show how much of a monster that it was. You had Silent Hill 2, ICO, GT3, GTA3, DMC, Onimusha, FFX, Twisted Metal Black and Jak and Daxter.

and all that is welcome, but give more than "the one with the rpg's" that's not being objective, subjective or anything in particular.......just dimwitted.

The PC is very obviously not a console, read the title at least guys. He did not say platform, or else PC would be the clear winner.

Also backwards compatibility is cheating.

LOL it seems that gaf is frequented only by >20 years old people otherwise I can't believe that no one has said "SNES"

PS2 and its not even close.

I literally thought about it while reading the thread but I'm certain PS2 is right there with it.

then where is the fun................actually I agree with you but my 15 second topic was only because it was hard for me to come to a conclusion, to which I ask for other opinions..
