What cut content hurts the most for you?

Part of me likes the artistic effect of having a broken Archstone, but this so much. Would pay a hefty sum for DLC/remaster that added it back in.

I agree actually, I like the mystery of a world cut off from the Nexus and lost forever.

Arsenal Gear crashing on Manhattan at the end of MGS2. I was so frustrated when I read and realized the game had been delayed to remove some really cool events that left it feel unfinished.

Yakuza 3, all the content cut, hostess club, mahjong...

I was going to type the same thing. I played the Japanese version this year to see how much extra (in terms of playtime hours) the Japanese version has. I probably spent a good 10+ hours on the hostesses and hostess management club alone, then another few hours on Mah Jong and the extra side missions... Can't believe so much was cut :(

As for my pick, even though a version finally cropped up in the iPhone port of Sonic 2, I'll still always want a copy of Sonic 2 that has all its cut acts/worlds intact including the original design for the Hidden Palace zone. Sonic 2 still remains my favourite game of the series and the amount of cut levels in the game still intrigues me to this day.

Half Life 2 beta is a totally different game and very interesting. Luckily a lot of the lost ideas ended up in Resistance 3.

honeybee manor was nerfed super hard

real answer is soul reaver

This. I wish the HD remaster had restored it. The game is almost perfect as is, a few extra dungeons would put it into GOT forever status.

There is no cut conent to restore. THOSE DUNGEONS WERE NEVER STARTED. Yes, ideas were prototyped, but that is true for literally every thing in a Zelda game during preproduction and aoenuma even said some of those ideas have already appeared in later zeldas. This silly dream of Half finished dungeons sitting on a hard drive somewhere needs to stop.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow originally had the shopkeep, Hammer, playable in Julius mode along Julius, Yoko and Alucard. Speculation had it that he was gonna be similar to Grant since Julius mode is a throwback to CV3 (with Julius as Trevor, Yoko as Sypha and Alucard as, well, Alucard).

A few years later, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, the multiplayer spin-off to the CV series, was released. Dataminers (including me) found unused sound files of all the characters shouting the names of several dual crushes (super spells you could initiate with another player), as well as those of other characters. Hammer was among them, as well. He ended up being the only character in the unused files to stay that way - Julius, Yoko, Richter, Maria and Simon all became DLC characters in the end.

In short, Hammer got cut from 2 games. I really would've loved to play him. :(

Every time I read about cut content, I think about how much I wish these games would be remastered to include their missing content. Charge me extra for them. I don't care. Sell them to me as DLC. Whatever you have to do.

Just give them to me.

Bloodborne's DLC is phenomenal because I am pretty sure it was undeveloped concepts from the original game. It felt like I was playing the stuff they didn't get to make and it all just fit so well.

After enjoying Crash Twinsanity, learning about how much was cut made me sad :(.
-Hoverboard level that was far enough in development that its core mechanics are still in coding but left incomplete
-Two levels playing with the idea of going inside peoples mind; one level with Cortex going in Coco's mind (with it having you fight all kinds of stuffed animals and cutesy things; the theme still is in the final game) and another where you play as Crash and are inside Cortex's mind, with his him singing while you are playing a traditional Crash level
-Underwater levels that would have been a mixture of a lot of elements; standard Crash gameplay, one where Coco plots a sub and more
-Levels expanding upon the rollerbrawl portions of the game, using Mecabandicoot's mechanics for a full level, and two more portions where you play as Nina and Dr. Cortex
-Flashback level(s) of Crash fighting trademark villains and exploring N. Santy Islands caves, temples and jungles
-At least two more levels for the Ice Fortress world where Crash and Cortex would go on N. Gin's ship and travel to Cortex's Ice Lair. Looked to mix platforming across garters, a Coco portion with her riding an Ostrich and platforming on a moving ship.

So much was cut from Twinsanity, its criminal :'(. Thankful that the final game is still a fun time but it bites that the game could of been so much more if funding wasn't gutted last minute and it got another year of development time.

Here are Links to other stuff that was cut for the game or explains my points a bit better:

My pick as well.

In a Mafia 2 trailer, apparently people could try to rob you wouldn't be surprised if there was more since it feels like a rushed game
Edit: Oh there's more cut content in the trailer lol
KotOR 2 even though most of it (?) was restored.

It sounds like Mafia 2 had mountains of content cut due to being rushed/its troubled development. There was supposed to be far more to do around town with side missions at places like the docks and scrap yard, plus the telephones would have served more of a purpose other than you just using them to bribe cops.

Pity that so much of it ended up on the cutting room floor.

Any content of any Zelda game really, especially Ocarina of Time seems super interesting. Hell the leaked debug ROM has some insane amount of content going all the way back to the very first development stage of the game!

I also wonder how the canned Nintendo 64 version of Eternal Darkness was. It was basically completed before being shifted towards the GameCube and being completely remade. So a complete other version of that game is laying somewhere on a hard drive or disc or floppy or whatever. And nothing is being done with it sadly.

Darkel in GTA III

That's a name I haven't read in awhile. Therr were so many rumors and conspiracy theories about him.

I remember reading early GTA IV impressions that talked about a climbing mechanic. Niko climbed up a utility pole, and they raved about how good and weighty it looked.

heavy rains dlc which was gonna be short stories of some of the characters in the game was cut so that they could make it move compatible.

"Unfortunately, Sony preferred to ask us to focus on Move to support the device rather than on creating new content," Cage told the site. "On our side, we did not want to spend more time on HR, which would have meant delaying new projects. This is a decision I can understand, and I am certainly happy we had the opportunity to play with this device and to support it, although I am certainly disappointed for fans we could not finish the story of HR the way we intended."

I'm actually really glad they cut Oscar's role from the game. It goes completely against the way the game tells its story to just have him straight up tell you what's up at the end. It would be complete garbage, and whatever the reason for him being cut was, I'm glad that happened.

Fuck Oscar.

Yeah I'll echo the Wind Waker content. Love that game and clearly it was supposed to be even more.

I think that's the worst part. When you can feel the missing content. That feeling that something should be there. Even if we don't know what was supposed to be where, Wind Waker is full of things that feel like dead ends. The shipwreck with nothing in it, underwater Hyrule in the distance, no Water Temple for the third pearl, etc.

You can feel your curiously tugging you towards all these different places, and the game just tells you "turn around, there is nothing for you here."

I find all the Souls games fairly complete, even with the hints of what is missing.

Wind Waker however it was so evident that the team wasn't given the time to see their vision through. It really did leave me with a bit of a hollow experience back at launch, i've come to enjoy the game for it does offer since then though.

Seeing so many people say MGS5, i'm really nervous to actually play it. I understand the gameplay is superb, i just don't think its what i'm looking for out of a meta gear game.

Did we uncover something recently? I've read tons and tons of stuff about OoT development and was always under the impression there were more indications of content rather than anything to actually see.
