What do you expect from Team Ico's next project?

And also Sony is not interested in funding single-player games much, they want to create communities through their games (and so does the whole industry now). It's really important for the sake of profitability. I'm pretty sure Ueda wouldn't have a problem with making such a game if Sony asked him to. In fact, didn't he say something along those lines, that he could still make a great game even if he was told it needed to be more marketable?

Well, I think he would have a problem is Sony asked him to do a certain type of game. Both he and Toyama (the Siren and Silent Hill creator) have both said that part of the reason they like working for Sony is that they allow them to make whatever they want. So if he decided to make something more "mainstream", it'd be his own choice.

WTF @ user-created colossi :lol

I'm thinking more along the lines of a single player game where you can have AIs with you, or replace them by invited friends. A bit like the original SotC idea where you had 4 characters.

Yeah but I remember him saying something like, it wasn't a problem if Sony wanted to go in a particular direction to make the game a bigger success, he felt what made Ico and SotC good wouldn't be affected by that.

ICO did have a full co-op mode once you beat it so it's entirely possible.

I think this is what you're talking about

When we ask whether the underwhelming commercial response to his previous games would mean he would consider sacrificing an amount of his artistic vision in order to create something more appealing to a wider audience, there was some lengthy discussion between Ueda and his ever-present translator.

“I am aware of the artistic sense of the product I’m producing, but that is not the goal throughout,” says Ueda. “That’s just part of the game’s contents, but I’m also more interested that the product will be well played in the future. I guess we are currently looking at a lifespan of two and a half years [for a game] in Japan, whereas I’m hoping for the consumer to be able to play this content over and over.”

Yeah that was it. I'm guessing downloadable content/persistent world/etc.

This. ICO still shames a lot of next gen games.
This is true.

Im not trying to troll or anything, but in that Sony E3 thread when Resistance 2 was being demoed, alot of people were saying its the "modern" Shadow of the colossus.

I laughed, because the animations said otherwise. im playing through SOTC again and it still wows me more than 95% of the "next-gen" games i've played.

i expect more wow from the next ICO game.

Yea.......holy shit

anyone have that colossi size comparison chart?

They will most surely make good use of motion blending tech.

Something of earthshattering beauty and grace that will transform our hearts and make grown men weep like small children.

At the rate gaf has/will be hyping this up. I couldn't have said it better.

Gameplay - I want to be impressed. But I expect the "hold" mechanic to come back.

Graphics/scope/environments - SotC did it right. But I want to see new environments. I would like to have a mountain terrain.

Controls/Camera - Whatever I get.

As a plus I want to see a "Thank you Team Andromeda" at the end of the credits roll :D :P

The whole game takes place on one Unicron-sized Colossus, walking around some mystical land. Sometimes you can jump off him onto huge towers to do stuff.

My dream Ueda game is a nautical adventure where you sail to different islands with gameplay inspired by the previous games. It would provide an opportunity to try a variety of new puzzle mechanics, while also proving a sense of place in the Ico universe. For instance, where are the forbidden lands with respect to the Castle? Where did the villagers live, and how far is it from the areas we've seen?

I want to sail around huge, decaying, stone structures rising out of the sea.

Lots of flying would be nice. I get the feeling a Team ICO game could capture the feeling of being airborne even better than the typical Miyazaki film. But I'm sure whatever they make will be fine with me.

Suddenly I'm wanting a Kiki's Delivery Service game. :(

That is beyond awesome.

Colossus 5 says you're right.

Yep that would be very very cool. With day and night cycle, and changing weather:D What movie is the screen with the skeletons from?

I wouldn't be surprised if they went for something like that, considering you could easily expand the game by adding new lands to navigate to.

Yes!

I want to see something that I would never have seen coming. You just know that'll blow you away.

I wouldn't mind something like nonlinear navigation of a giant abandoned city. Think something like GTA, but abandoned and made out of stone, with puzzles to unlock new areas of the city, or something. I just want it to have roaming around that is just as rewarding as that in SotC.

You must really want those elements in, huh? :lol

:lol yeah I always like the addition of day and night cycles, it's just cool and it can break up linearity (like, some enemies are there at night only, or you need to light your way somehow, maybe slowing your pace in the process), and weather is just a nice additional touch. It was a nice addition in WoW.

SOTC is my best game ever but it's hard for anyone to make something that unique and new twice , i don't think Ueda can do it for third time , I think he will go to ICO style again and copy it but he will try to make everything bigger and with more emotional story .

I really can't believe he can do it three times in a row, no one can , so i will not setting myself up for disappointment , sorry thread of hype :( .

If their PS3 game is even more emotional than ICO, it will be one of my fav games ever.

Yorda

I agree. A game based on exploration would greatly benefit from day/night cycles. Imagine exploring ancient ruins in the middle of the night with a torch to light the way. And shadow men appearing behind corners... and... :D

Yes. Just fucking imagine jumping off a massive colossus that's slowly collapsing and being rescued midair by your griffin companion. Or flying between the legs of some sort of spider colossus, cutting it's limbs with your sword as you fly by them. OR FIGHTING IN MIDAIR WITH A FLYING COLOSSUS OMG

Damn it, now I'm going to be sad if their game doesn't have any flying in it. :( Actually I would be surprised if there are any colossus-type enemies in the game even though I used them for my examples.

Who am I kidding, I will be fucking ecstatic no matter what the game is like

Well, after reading this thread - any game without sailing and stop-motion skeleton warriors is going to feel a bit thin and pale.

What is wrong with you people wanting another SOTC? Fucking. The game is finished, move on. No wonder the gaming industry can be so stagnated when we have idiots expecting one of the more new and original developers in the industry to create another "sequel".

Fuck me.

60 FPS, that is all I ask. I'll except a 100% stable 30 FPS.

I doubt we'll see 60 fps. Ueda will probably try to push the PS3 as much as he possibly can without making it spontaneously combust. Many whine about Shadow's frame rate, but I'm amazed with the fact that he got those giant beasts to look as good as they did considering the hardware's limitations. I'll gladly sacrifice some frames if I get something like colossus 13.
