What do you make of Prison Architect?

TechnicPuppet

Nothing! I said nothing!
I've been obsessed with this game for the last week. I feel like I have taken it as far as I can until more updates come though. I have 200 cells and next step is 500, I can't even imagine doing that at this point.

The game is obviously very buggy and needs more depth but I think it could potentially be one of my fav games ever when it's finished.

Are there any other similar games people would recommend?

thought I was doing good but I couldn't drain the water in the showers even though I put drains in there then a riot happened and a couple people escaped and all of my guards died. really fun game and they put out pretty substantial updates fairly often.

I like it.. but I absolutely hate the way the powerline and water pipes are set up. Talk about a terrible mechanic. Half the time it never works and your workers just stand around not doing shit.

Not to mention its pretty difficult to build a prison with the limited resources you are given and the amount of prisoners constantly being sent to your prison. (ofcourse you can turn them off, but you dont get any more $.. and therefor, no more building)

I still cant believe the game hasnt had a significant price drop.

You need to put the drains outside the showers for some reason.

I'll look it up, cheers.

You can control the flow of prisoners. You set them to open and closed when you are ready in reports.

It is expensive, I got it for ÂŁ7.99 in Humble sale though.

You can turn off accepting prisoners. Your cashflow doesn't go to zero, because you're paid a rate per prisoner (based on their risk level). Whatever is leftover after expenses is yours to build with.

It's also not terribly hard to make a solid small prison, sell it, and use that money to start a new one with much more potential.

I watched a lets play of it once. It looked pretty interesting. It was still an old build at the time. Maybe a couple months ago.

I'd definitely buy it for a cheap price. Not sure how much I'd play it. I still have RCT 1+2 that I didn't put much time into.

It's great, and the updates have been mostly great additions to the game. It has changed a lot since I first started playing.

I bought the alpha before it went up on Steam and played for about 20 mins before deciding that I should probably just wait for it to be released.

im looking forward to delve into it and I bought it a long time ago, but for some reason I keep putting it back till it's in a more finished state. constant issue for me with early access games I guess

It reminds me of "Theme Hospital" (I wish someone would remake that one), I haven't played it yet, though. I've had my eyes on it ever since it launched on Early Access, but I don't want to start playing until it's actually finished. "Rimworld" looks fun as well.

I had a lot of money problems until I realized I could get grants really easily doing mostly what I was doing anyway.

Same here Salsa. No idea why I buy early access games :/

Looking forward to playing this one when it's complete though.

I'd imagine it has enough content by now that you will be fine playing it.

Good game but in desperate need of completion.

I'm so used to the bugs, I can't even tell what is actually in the game and what needs fixing.

It's incredibly fun but super buggy. I haven't played it in a while, but I remember being really frustrated that the workers wouldn't do what I told them to do.

I played a bit when it first came out but had to put it down. The game play systems are very deep but the bugs got in the way, I think.

That doesn't make much sense. Basically when something goes wrong, I often didn't know if I did something wrong or if the game was breaking in some way behind the scenes.

It's amazing how much it has come on since the early Alphas, you can start to see the game taking shape now. Albeit theres still a crapload for them to do. I'm love them to make the Yard a more important element, gangs, areas, different sports etc.

Considering next alpha is going to be pretty much bug fixing, I think beta might be in the next 6 months.

Think they are going to spend this month tackling bugs before going back to adding features next month. There are a few bugs that make the tiring as your prison gets bigger.

Not just as your prison gets bigger. I picked it up a few days ago, and I'm already frustrated with the foundations bug. I've tried everything suggested online to avoid/overcome it, but those suggestions rarely work and I normally end up blowing through what money I have (and earn from grants) rebuilding over and over again to get foundations to finalise.

There's a fantastic game there, and the one or two times I've avoided the foundation bug I've had a blast, but that issue is killing my interest in the title right now.
