What do you think of a Mario K'Nex video game? Various Mario K'Nex products inside.

Since 2011 K'Nex has released various Mario figures and sets.

What are you thoughts on a Mario K'Nex game in the vein of the Lego games?

At the start of this year footage of a prototype of a Halo Mega Bloks game was put online:

Prototype of cancelled ''Mega Bloks Halo'' Game surfaces (basically ''LEGO Halo'')

Pretty cool video by PtoPOnline which is the same dude who posted the Until Dawn first person prototype.

Game was beeing developed by n-Space and got cancelled around 2013. It looks pretty cool, and the video is filled with gameplay. Like really polished gameplay

While it was canceled it did look very interesting.

Personally I think it would be very neat to see someone else tackle the playing as buildable toys concept. Have Mario build vehicles and contraptions, connect various enemies together, transform something by breaking it apart and rebuilding it.

I can't really think of many gaming franchises Lego has done sets for aside from Minecraft and Angry Birds along with the Lego Dimensions' Portal and Sonic Level packs.

Mega Bloks has had quite a few game franchises Halo, Destiny, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Skylanders and recently Pokémon. I think it probably isn't worth it to Lego to offer these franchises better offers than what they're getting.

K'Nex would offer an even more distinct "game world" than Mega Bloks would compared to Lego.

Most of the individual characters in K'Nex form:

Look at some of the stuff released (most of the sets are long out of production) for an idea of how characters, objects and settings would look in a K'Nex style.

You can take advantage of them being buildable toys in several ways like weird mashups:
mariomashup.jpg

Or have them be broken apart:

My 3 year-old neice two months ago found those tow Princesses and really loved them.

I actually thought of this thread because of that and I bought my first blind bag (Series 10) in years (Series 4) a few days ago to get Mario Maker Mario.

After 5 years of two blind bags a year this year will be the first to have three released. With Series 11 schedule for October in time for Mario Odyssey. Some actually unique figures are showing up with Maker Mario and Vacuum Luigi.

Several years ago there were 8 of the very first blind bags, Mario Kart Wii, on clearance for $1 at my local CVS. I bought all of them and somehow got all unique figures except for an extra Mario instead of Bowser who was the rarest. One of the luckiest moments I've experienced. After that I got Peach, Daisy, Wario and Bowser Jr only missing Waluigi. Specific characters are marked with a number underlined on the back.

If a Mario/Rabbids crossover can be good, why not?

Nice work on all the effort collecting all the pics up. I have a few of the blind bags myself.

Great OP

I'm not really sure what K'Nex is. "America's Building Toy"? LOL

Some of those sets look good but goddamn I'd kill for Nintendo Lego.
Especially Zelda Lego.

Lego Star Wars works because the properties aren't already CGI or cartoonish, at least for me. The K-Nex versions of Mario look so close to the regular Mario that I don't see much point in adapting a property like this to Lego, K-Nex or otherwise

I'd be more intested in just one K'nex themed Mario Kart course. I would not want them to spend an entire game's worth of time and money in this idea, but it could be fun to use it for something.
Edit: kinda like Forza Horizon 3 and Hot Wheels going together.

Doesn’t look like much construction in those sets.

Can’t believe knex is still around, I remember it trying to become a thing 25 years ago!
The toy shop in the new shiny shopping centre had a massive rollercoaster built from it. It blew my mind.

It’s no Lego though, that’s for sure.

Everything about those sets looks amazing, and I love the way the models look too. I don't know about a K'nex-Mario game, but I would love a (spin-off) game that uses that art style for its characters.

A lot of people are saying Lego but that doesn't seem worth it to either company.

As I said in the OP Lego in terms of gaming franchises has only really be involved with Minecraft and Angry Birds. Two monster cultural phenomenons that have led to movies.

Mario at its peak during the Wii and DS didn't get involved with Lego but instead K'Nex.

In fact huge franchises like Assassin's Creed, Skylanders (at the time), Call of Duty, Halo and Destiny all went to Mega Bloks.

Even Pokémon after the success of God last year went with Mega Bloks this year. Is Mario bigger than Pokémon post-Go?

That's awesome! I've never knew of that.

Super cool they showed up in Mario Land 2.

Love throwbacks to super-early Nintendo.
