I have a few blogs on Tumblr, including a couple where I post my own work (photography). I've noticed that most people who post on it tend to just reblog from other blogs they follow.
While male users often have blank blogs with no posts, sometimes they do maintain proper blogs, but in that case it's usually porn reblogged from other sources. Female users, as far as I've seen, tend to reblog a variety of material according to their interests, and also tend to make more personal posts and use it as a proper blogging platform more than just a content aggregator.
The subsection of users who create content and maintain blogs with mainly original content is very small, and I can't make any demographic guesses about it.
I'm just spitballing and making conjecture, but tl;dr: if you use Tumblr, what do you use it for, and how do you use it?
