What exactly does a "two drink minimum" entail?

To be clear, I meant about $6 a bottle, since he said two bottles.

Yes, I'm saying that I doubt that 2 small bottles of water will cost you more than 5$ combined.
There will be definitely many non-alcoholic drinks and water there. Just order whatever is cheaper.

How do they actually enforce this?

You can't leave without showing them 2 glasses?
If you dont they drag you up to the bar and make you buy 2 drinks?

The second you sit down a waiter comes up to take down your 2 drinks.

You have to order them.

I feel like we're going in a circle.

Because there's only one answer, and it was given at the beginning of the thread.

A two-drink minimum means that, in order to enter, you have to pay for two drinks while you're there.
They "enforce" it by taking your order, and if you don't order two drinks, charging you for two drinks.

So what else do you want from the thread, then?
Is there a need that I want something? I'm engaging the conversation as it moves forward, but one aspect seemed to be looping back to its genesis.

Comedy show, order food as soon as you get there and a coke/water. They will drop the minimum for you because you ordered food.

I went to a comedy show when I was under the age of 21, as they only required you to be 18+ at this place. I ordered two sodas and it was fine. I don't remember the price being outrageous, but that obviously varies place by place. Worst case scenario you can ask the waitress for the cheapest non-alcoholic beverages available, and bring great shame upon your table and yourself.

Yeah, seems like it would all be even funnier after a couple of drinks. I don't think I could go to a comedy show and NOT drink, TBH.

I find comedy shows significantly more enjoyable when I'm drinking.
Alcohol doesn't lead me to enjoy anything more I've found. In the past I've found that even just one or two drinks lead me not to remember any details of movies that I watched while drinking, so I don't mix it with entertainment.

Ah, you're a light weight. No shame in that.

You must be great at parties.

No I'm just joshin ya but really that sucks.

I don't see how feeling that you could enjoy a comedy show more if you're sober is that unusual, and I say that as a guy that enjoys a good drink.

Two drink minimums allow you to buy soda or bottled water, but you also won't "enjoy the show less" if you have a beer because alcohol isn't magic space poison

I wouldn't enjoy it less, I just wouldn't enjoy it wholly. I want the entire experience of what the performer puts out, alcohol would degrade that.

Please avoid sharing this opinion with the other people at the comedy club in an effort to save them from a "degraded" experience.

Why would this topic even come up at the club?

So you wouldn't enjoy it less if you drank, you just wouldn't enjoy it as much as you would sober.

This must be some next level comedian you're seeing where your complete, undivided, unwavering attention is necessary to properly appreciate the set.

It really wouldn't. If anything it would enhance your enjoyment because you'll be overanalysing things less. It seems like you have a bit of an issue with that at present and alcohol will diminish it for a period.

The term hales from the UK. There was an urban legend about a 12 year old pregnant preteen who snuck i to a comedy disco one night. She thought she would avoid being detected as being underage if she was seen drinking so she ordered the two cheapest drinks on the menu but was found out anyways when she went into labor. One of the bar tenders was heard saying "that mini-mum tried to trick us using two drinks!" and the rest was history.

I have a feeling you could find a way to bring it up.
I could also do handstands while at the urinal, but that doesn't provide a reason why I would.

So you wouldn't enjoy it less if you drank, you just wouldn't enjoy it as much as you would sober.

If I'm paying for entertainment I definitely give it my full attention. I'm not going to be there to send people text messages, I'm there for the jokes.

I think it is testament to Rest's self-diagnosic capability that he is able to recognise and identify the best operating parameters for his enjoyment and evaluation of entertainment.

If alcohol leads to a loss of data collection, storage and retrieval then he is right to refrain from injesting such liquids.

I look forward to his review of the night under these optimal conditions, and his observations which would go completely unnoticed by the rest of us in our drunken stupors.
