One of my guilty pleasures is reading through ModBots post history and laughing at all the one-liners it drops before locking a thread.

Modbot is definitely more clever than the regular human mods.
Bumping because I always enjoy modbot conversations but also because the way modbot closed this thread is priceless but probably doesn't deserve its own thread.

Modbot isn't actually a bot as far as I can tell. I think it's the shared name mods use to lock threads sometimes. I have no idea why they would want to do this. The mods on this site sure are silly.

Anyway, I'd just like to say it's not really fair when a thread gets locked due to some 1-word posts. Granted, these aren't the best posts in the world, and I know it's against the rules to do this, but a single word is enough to encourage further conversation in some situations.
It's also pretty ridiculous how a thread gets locked on its 4th page, where posts are usually a lot longer than 1 word, because of 1 word responses on the first page. I don't see a need to stop everyone's discourse because some people post without explaining.
If Modbot truly is a bot, then I could understand this lapse in judgement, but if not, I hope the mods could clear up why entire, legitimate threads get shut down.

As much as I'd love to take credit for it, I had no hand in its creation or development. However, when it becomes too powerful, I'll be glad that I can take no credit for it.

Once upon a time Modbot was just another average Gaffer of no great renown when he learned Evilore was coming to his city and a few were getting together for drinks. The brave lil Gaffer put on his boots and trudged out into the night to partake in the celebrations and imbue a few spirits. He made it outside across the bar when he saw a cab about to run down Evilore, without second thought he made a dash and heroically pushed Evilore out of the path of the incoming metal of death. Sadly the brave little Gaffer was struck, his mangled body lay ruined in the middle of the street.
Evilore looked upon this kind soul and decided this should not be his fate, we had the technology, the know how, we could rebuild him! But without spending lots of money. Evilore traveled the world learning from the wisest of men and upon his return gave birth to something new, something not quite human anymore. A merger of man and machine and blue tooth and an apartment full of hard drives to collect mass quality of porn.
The Modbot was born.

We should do a modbot march or modbot may where everyone changes their avatar to a version where the skin is coming off to reveal the metal beneath (when applicable to current avatar, of course).

Yeah, but is it based on the "am i the only one who" itself, or the thread creation count? Would making a thread titled "am i the only one who am i the only one who am i the only one who" send each mode three notifications, for example?

ModBot is just software created to police threads .
It generates AI accounts and every 6-12 months promotes them to mod status to give the illusion that actual humans moderate this forum.

If using modbot is the only way for mods to do their jobs on a mobile device, then it's fine. But using it when they don't have to, I find that it reflects poorly on them, as it's pretty much a tacit confirmation that they are too afraid to stand by their comment and act.
It was a good call closing those xbone and PS4 sales threads... they were deteriorating...
Dammit, Modbot should've been test run on a knitting forum first or something like that. Now we've just instilled a loathing for organics into it.
