After RE1 OG and RE2 OG, I finished the original Resident Evil 3 for the first time (Heavy mode). I played it with the usual
Mulderland's Enhancement Pack. Like RE2, the AI upscaled background look nice and better than the default blurry mess, but at times it would be nice to have another manual art pass. But in general they are pretty nice.
What can I say, another banger and way better than the remake. It's a completely different game. You can see they wanted to go in a more action direction, but they still managed to keep the survival horror aspect intact. The dodge was a nice addition, it's not super easy to pull off and it doesn't really get you out of the way completely, so they balanced it well. Nemesis is way better in this game, it really feels like a menace and the AI is pretty good, for this playthrough I tried to avoid him as much as possible, but I see that as you get better at the game you could start to take him on on replays.
It was nice to explore an outside location instead of being closed off in a building. The quality of the backgrounds increased starkly compared to RE2, they are super detailed and the placement of the camera is always on point. I had a look at the credits and the majority of people are listed under Background Graphics, and I get why.
The pacing was great as usual, this whole trilogy was peak gaming. What I liked is that while the "base" of these games is similar, they play and feel completely different. You just can't get bored even if you play them back to back.
Now that I'm done with the OG trilogy I might start a Resident Evil 9 playthrough... or maybe I will finally play the Dino Crisis games (1&2) since I've never played them.
With my backlog, its feels like this... I just cant stop buying games, but you know what? I have "no regrats" yolo, just buy that shit you want and enjoy life.
I'm the same and I don't have a problem with it, I love having a vast selection of games to choose from, so I can play anything that strikes my fancy whenever I want. Better like this than the opposite imho.
