What game, (current or future) influenced your Next Gen console choice?

For PS4 long-term: Dem WWS games. MS's first party offerings started off strong with Xbox 360 but puttered out alone the way. Meanwhile, Sony is still releasing high quality titles for PS3. I'm definitely not worried about the lack of PS4 support in the future.

For short-term, it's definitely the PS4 multiplats. I would have had no problem buying the Xbone up front and grabbing a PS4 later if the Xbone's multiplats were up to par, regardless of the price difference. I was more heavily invested in 360/Live than PS3 last gen.

For ps4 it was awesomenauts, the witness, n++, and future naughtydog games.

And for xbox one (although I don't have one yet) it will be the new gears of war

Ehm, multiplatforms? Seriously, I'm picking a PS4 because it seems like a given that is going to be the console with the best ports. I don't give a damn about the exclusives on any of those platforms (X1 and PS4)

Nothing in particular. I get one of the next gen consoles at launch each generation change, and PS4 felt like the one to go with this time around. Last time was 360, Gamecube the time before that, and N64 the gen before that.

I want Red Dead sequel more than anything, though.

Sony and the More Powerful Console: Legend of a Hundred Dollars Less

There's nothing I'm really chomping at the bit for, but the above was clearly going to shift consumer support in Sony's favor, which will likely shift some publisher support in turn.

Monolithsoft's "X". None of the major PS4/X1 exclusives really appeal to me, while X is a successor to my favourite game of last gen. I play most of my games on 3DS/Vita/PC anyway, so I can't justify spending a couple of hundred pounds on a console.

I'll probably end up picking up a PS4 eventually, but console-wise, at least for the next year or so, I'll be happy with my Wii U and its lineup.

EDIT:

Yep, this is the main reason I'm leaning in the direction of the PS4. With no exclusives on either side that sway me, the price/power are the deciding factors and the PS4's winning.

People know FFXV is not exclusive to the PS4 right? It might even come to PC (Which I personally, would like).

KH3 is likely to stay exclusive, but who knows? It's like a million years off... :(

EDIT:
Ah, KH3 isn't exclusive...

Sony first-party studios. Infamous made me decide to get it sooner rather than later.

And Nintendo games of course. I can't go without them. Haven't got a Wii U yet, but I'll be getting one sometime this year. Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Bayonetta, X? Can't miss those.

I can only go so far as to say I had a game lose influence on a potential next gen console choice.

Halo got me to Xbox 360, despite my reservations overall with how Microsoft was conducting their business. That series no longer holds any ongoing value and with the lack of BC and my overall disconnectedness from the ecosystem (I do not subscribe to XBL, I couldn't care less about achievements, etc.), there's no tether to the Xbox platform for me.

I bought a PS3 last June and if I continue into the new generation, it will be with a PS4.

Ultimately, my decision to purchase a Wii U was due to the forthcoming release of Super Smash Bros U, X, and the oft-mysterious Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. I hope they're all good!

Witcher 2 convinced me to build my current PC. Witcher 3 will have me build my next one some time before it comes out.

Mostly Towerfall and Transistor, but almost the entirety of the "playstation has indies" lineup - PC

Link Between Worlds and Pokemon X - 3DS

Mario 3D World and Smash bros - WiiU

Nintendo first party games, but Pikmin 3 was the game that made me decide to get the system in May. Didn't really care for the lineup before that at the time, but it's grown on me since.

For 3DS, Link Between Worlds is what finally convinced me that two screen handhelds aren't all that bad (Quit portables after the GBA SP)

Nothing in particular.

But unlike with microsoft I actually like several of Sony's first party developers (naughty dog, Sucker Punch, Santa Monica, etc) and I overall preffer their focus on exclusive games (personally I think that regarding AAA games they offer different types of games instead of focusing on big online shooters like MS did the seccond half of last gen).

Playstation 4: PS+
Xbox One: Halo and XBL
Wii U: Mario, Zelda and other Nintendo properties.

Xbox: Halo CE
PS2: All those games, just sooooo many.
Gamecube: see Wii U
Dreamcast: PSO and Sonic Adventure

360: Halo, Gears, Crackdown...among others
PS3: Untold Legends and Resistance
Wii: see Wii U

PS1: Crash and Final Fantasy
N64: Mario 64
Saturn: Empty promises :(

The hope that The Last Guardian has been moved to the PS4.

Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart 8, and W101 forced me to get a Wii U.

I'll probably end up getting an XBox One for Halo if it's good.

Halo, Gears, and Titanfall. But TV integration and Kinect more than any of those, since Netflix/Hulu gets more play on my consoles than any games anyway.

All things Nintendo... especially Zelda. I will always buy Nintendo consoles day 1 because of how much I love their first party offerings, but nothing can compare to the utter joy of unboxing a Zelda game for the first time and booting it up.

Other than that, I'll buy a ps4 once Uncharted 4 is out. That way I can also enjoy the Witcher 3 and Mass Effect 4. I imagine my current PC rig won't be enough for either.

I preordered an Xbox One, cancelled it,

then preordered a PS4 from Walmart and cancelled it (don't have a picture of this receipt), then preordered a SECOND PS4 from Gamestop before release night and cancelled it right before I picked it up

then bought an Xbox One and sold it like a month later

and bought a PS4 which right now is unplugged and collecting dust. You're asking me to explain myself with logic and reason? Even I don't understand tbh. Videogames.

Past gen, both the 360 and PS3. Just a brainless hardcore gamer?

Current gen, both the Xbox One and the PS4.

Point is, I like to have the latest and the best tech in my living room, not a fan of the Nintendo offerings, even though I really like Mario Bros.
