What game purchases have you recently regretted?

Lotta Steam Summer sale stuff. Like, I bought a ton of click and point adventure games. Played one for all of twenty minutes, haven't even installed the others. That's just sad. Could really use that money now, too.

I tend to buy old games in bulk for cheap, new. My most recent bulk purchase was
Armored Core: For Answer, Eternal Sonata, WET and Star Ocean 4: The International.

They all stunk.

I do the same thing. Eterna Sonata was okay though, I thought. Picked up the PS3 version a few months back.

Agree on SO4 though. Terrible.

Vanquish
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

*ducks*

I didn't like Max Payne 3 at all. Got it at Walmart for $20 and traded it the next week for Borderlands 2....Come to think of it I haven't played much of that either, only level 10 or so.

I regret buying Pokemon White and Pokemon Conquest back to back. Should have spaced out my purchases because I keep going back and forth between them and not making much progress in either.

Vita- Love the screen and playing FF VIII on it, but it's current software lineup is total garbage to me and I haven't bought a single game or even had one announced since I picked up BlazBlue CSE at launch.

Darksiders 2 - This is only kicking in now because of some many fucking fetch quests bullshit. Book of the dead pages, Mystic/Power/Revolution stones, and Amulet quest (thankfully this is very short) thing is I just really can't fucking stand this kinda game design. Second worst thing there is after QTE's.

RE6 - Chris is so not what I was picturing, Leon's portion sucks and Helena is the worst addition since Steve.

G Gen Overworld: Forgot it earlier, but not a fan. I don't like SRPGS and I forget that SRW is for babies in alot of ways and G Gen isn't so I get hyped up for the units and then hate how the game plays.

Hopefully Project X Zone doesn't continue this trend.

RE 6, I was going to wait for the pc version but caved after all the reviews and drama. I liked the demo and had to see for myself. I should've waited a week and bought Xcom or Dishonored :(

Diablo 3.

$10 at Toys-R-Us... I started playing Torchlight 2 first (first experience in the genre) and I can't get into Diablo 3. I just want to go back and play more Torchlight 2 or another game. >.>

I barely started and I don't want to touch it. >.>

Wish I would of given it to a friend that would of actually played it.

Pandora's Tower. Game is just bad, you American's don't know how lucky you were that you didn't get it there. At least i got a couple of medals out of it.

Dead or Alive 5. I knew it was going to bomb (just like TTT2 was an obvious flop) but I love the series so much that I dove in anyway.. and I think maybe I've spent about an hour or two with it? Should have just waited for holiday sales.

I played the ES demo years ago. I was still in HS, broke and HD graphics still wowed the hell out of me. I thought it was the most beautiful game I'd ever seen. I was still new to RPGs so I thought the gameplay was solid.

Years later, after familiarizing myself with the genre and realizing I don't really like it much, playing ES was depressing. It didn't look that great, the story was embarrassing and the gameplay boring as hell. I still like the art and character designs but yea, very disappointed.

Final Fantasy: Theatrhythm. I wasn't expecting it to be Elite Beat Agents or anything, but I had hoped to have a reliable airplane distraction at least, and instead the input mechanics leave me bored with the initial songs and hopeless at the more challenging ones in the Chaos Shrine.

I'm very selective with my game purchases, so the regretful ones are few and far between. That said, the most recent one I disliked was Gungnir. Not horrible, but not good enough for me to finish it.

Take-On: Helicopters is pretty damn awful. I love flight sims and am working on my private license (fixed wing, not heli). But the flight model on this is horrendous and the voice acting/ story they anchor the flying around is painful. It'd be bad voice work even in the Saturn Resident Evil days.

RE6, but then I changed my mind.

That gif really sums it up right there.

* Dive back to dodge and shoot
* Scoot back and shoot on the ground
* 3 Quick-shots
* Melee finisher

Easily the most dynamic and fluid shooter since Vanquish. Resident Evil 6 really is the new Godhand. Totally misunderstood and underrated by people who can't play it that well.

Retro City Rampage kind of. It's like... Family Guy. There's not really a good game here so they just throw out as many references and parodies as they can.

That's what I want in Devils May Cry, not RE. >.>

I miss the tension.

Forget buying, I regret renting Res Evil 6. I heard it was bad, but I tried to avoid as many impressions as possible so i could make my own mind on how it plays.

Gave up as the prologue ended. It's a mess and it doesn't know what it wants to be. There are so many flaws with the first 20 minutes that i can't be bothered to list them all.

Guild Wars 2. So fucking boring. I bought non refundable pre-purchase and since the first beta I have regretted it. Played the game for 2-3 hours. What a waste.

Kid Icarus 3DS & KOF XII. I traded in Kid Icarus so that's somewhat rectified. I bought KOF XII because it was cheap but it's just a poor man's version of XIII.

The last one I can think of would be Enslaved like 18 months ago.

This as well.

I bought the DD preorder and I couldn't do nothing about it. I enjoyed GW1 and a bunch of my old WoW buddies were/are totally hooked on it and convinced me to buy.

Really wish I had not done so. I know some love how the game play, but to me it's inferior to WoW in pretty much every way as far as a gaming experince goes and I much rather not play an MMO then play GW2 over WoW.

Why? I was thinking of getting that game, is it bad?

It's not bad just very very short. Worth a play but not at full price. Should have been $20 at launch. Wait for the price to drop to $10 if you want an honest opinion. I had great fun with it, just not $50, $40, or even $30 worth of fun.

Edit:

Everything Cheezmo said too. It's hard to get tired of the slow mo shots though, but $50 is waaaaaay too much for this title.

Final Fantasy Thearythm: I tried to give it a chance but inevitably rhythm games aren't for me.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future: second Layton game I've tried and once again I regret it. Layton games are hardly games, more like puzzles strung together with visual novel narrative. There's very little game in them.

Persona 4 Arena: granted I haven't put more than two hours in it, but once again reinforced my distaste for fighting games. I really want to like it, what with it being canonical to the series but the story presentation leaves much to be desired.

The one platform I've been really happy and impressed with the past month has been the Vita. Little Big Planet (impressive), New Little Kings Story (charming) and Uncharted Golden Abyss ( grand in scope).

Dishonored. I loved a lot about it, but hated a lot of the basic mechanics, and couldn't bother with it anymore.

I'm going super old-school here but...

Skate or Die NES. Everyone told me it was a good game. I don't see how. It controls like ass, it plays like ass, and its kind of like a really terrible mini-game collection. For me, it has aged badly. $5 I could have gotten a fucking footlong. :/

Darksiders 2. I loved the first and the previews and reviews for 2 made me feel this was an instant purchase. Got about 1/2 way through and I've never gone back to it. So dull and pedestrian, gutted I bough it full price on launch :-(

I regret almost everything. It feels like I just stockpile things I'll never play. I rarely finish things anymore unless I have a deadline to do it.
