What game this gen has the most imersive world?

I feel that Skyrim has the most immersive game world I have seen in years. As to why I feel that way, I think the art direction is good, the sound design is good, and the scope and freeform quest completion order gives you a feeling of setting out to explore in a dangerous and unknown world.

Stalker, GTA 4.

Definitely not Assassins Creed. They go out of their way in that game to ruin the atmosphere at every opportunity. They could have just made a story set in those time periods that follows different members of the assassins guild throughout time. Instead they made a sci-fi game with a futuristic HUD and cities filled with force fields that block off areas.

limbo

the most unique and gorgeous visual design this generation. absolutely stellar, unparalleled audio design full of organic noises, crystal clear nature sounds and hints of gloomy strings and harmonies, all seemingly emerging from the same otherworldly static. an atmosphere of both dread and beauty, of quiet and somber awe, chillingly intimate yet filled with echoes of a distant, enigmatic darkness; a sense of place quite unlike anything else out there. no text, no hud, no explanations. nothing between the player and the world. everything slowly fading in. everything slowly fading out.

i can't think of another world in any game this generation that captured me like this and never let go.

It's hard to pick just one, I've played a lot of games that have completely sucked me into their universes this generation. I would say every game Bethesda Game Studios has made, Minecraft, Final Fantasy XIII (you can't deny the amazing artwork), Grand Theft Auto IV and Demon's Souls.

Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess for me but i haven't played games like Red Dead and Skyrim.

The Zelda games have always felt like real places to me. With real people who you have and can have an affect on.

Something you might do or achieve in one place has an effect in another. You can also interact with a surprisingly large amount of the world given the hardware limitations.

You find stuff out about people just by talking to others that you wouldn't have known if you didn't which can then further aid you.

So good.
