What games have the best animated cut scenes?

I adore the visual style applied to the cut scenes of recent Fire Emblem games, a gorgeous mix of hand drawn and CGI, it can be the least interesting scene and my breath is still taken away from the sheer beauty and astonishing animation work. Even Tokyo Mirage Sessions with its more traditional anime style looks gorgeous, the frames per second are far higher than other Atlus games like Persona 4 and environments are pretty busy:

I think the recent FE games have really settled on an amazing style for their CG. It's one of those styles that tries to approximate hand drawn anime, but also takes advantage of the fact it's computer generated

Just want to say the Fire Emblem Smash Bros cutscene was probably the best looking one too(that or the Palutena one...)

FE CG works because it doesn't try to be jittery like a lot of anime CG. That being said, Blizzard in general, blows everyone away and Sonic CG is great.

Not battleborn, that's for sure.

I think if we're talking anime style, FE and TMS #FE are miles ahead of anything else I've seen recently.

Some of the Monster Hunter ones, where they show each creature in its habitat, are pretty good. I've always really liked the Tri intro cut scene, where a herbivore gets taken down by a Great Jaggi. The prey is then grabbed by a Rathalos that takes on the whole pack, before flying off with it's dinner after a standoff with Lagiacruz.

I was actually thinking about Monster Hunter for this thread. The Azure Rathalos vs Seregios scene in particular. But as awesome as they are I don't think they beat Fire Emblem Fates.

Catherine's are really nice. Very high quality for such a small production.

Fire Emblem's scenes are really good, but I'm assuming we're talking hand drawn animation, rather than CG?

the naruto games for last gen and current gen has some of the most insanely well made cutscenes i've seen

fire emblem looks really nice too, although i havent actually played the games

I was under the impression that OP was asking about cut scenes that don't use the same graphic style as the actual game. I wouldn't consider cut scenes like in Ratchet and Clank to count, for example.

Otherwise, Naruto games probably win hand down. Regardless of how you feel about the series, those scenes are absolutely top notch, gorgeous, and over the top.

Ni no Kuni is a pretty easy choice though, given that it's Ghibli animation after all. Fire Emblem Fates is a pretty good example of 3D art, though.

Really anything that isn't in game is fine, A Crack in Time's pre rendered scenes do look gorgeous. Different visual styles are prefered though.

Ni no Kuni basically had Ghibli blu-ray footage as FMVs. Objectively best, i dont think they could ever be topped as far as animation goes

The bluth ones in the Dragon's Lair/Space Ace games are up there. Although they should be as that's pretty much the whole game as it's a series of cutscenes set to button presses lol
