What is From's best work aside from Souls/BB?

3d game dot hero wasn't developed by from?
Why did I think it was?

And wasn't armored core on the demo one for the og playstation?

Sadly both my choices didnt sell as well as id have liked cuz i really love the franchises.

Otogi - Myth of Demons specifically, because at the time there honestly wasnt anything quite like it.
I still remember having my Duke and being amazed at how powerful i felt with the character.
I dont think any game has come close to letting the player feel that powerful.
Not even Kratos with all his feats of strength have made me feel that powerful.

Chromehounds - What a game.

I'd love a Lost Kingdoms collection or a sequel. Such a great example of the type of fun, mix tier third party game we don't have on consoles anymore.

Kings Field was my jam on OG playstation...such a fun (difficult) game

I do have a place in my heart for the Armored Core series...great time with friends building mechs and then playing in the arena with them.

I'm with you on both counts. Some damn good memories playing kings field waaaay back.

Eternal Ring, Otogi, King's Field, Chromehounds, Ninja Blade was cool I thought

I've always been fascinated as they are (were) one of the few independent developers on consoles, with games across all the major platforms, and still alive. Especially with all the studios getting gobbled up and spat out last generation.

Only one I've played is Otogi 2 and I certainly enjoyed that. Never did beat what I think was the final boss though. I might still have the save, I should go back and defeat it.

The Lost Kingdoms games are not super balanced or polished, but I enjoy them mechanically. I wish they'd take a break from the Souls and revisit their other IPs. Now that they've made a bit of a name for themselves, maybe their other IPs can start selling.

Shhh... dont want to scare away the casual fans.

Game reminded me of what Dunbine could have been if someone made a proper game for the series.

Minus the flying.

Never heard of that one. Which system? Dark said something abut being a fan since the 90's but my earliest From title is King's field 2, I know of the Armored Core titles but not Frame Gride.

I'm not here to argue their best, but I enjoyed their horror games, the Echo Night series (need to play the second game whenever an English translation is done, but the first was pretty decent, Echo Night: Beyond was pretty good, both are unique horror games about putting souls to rest with survival mechanics to adventure games), and Kuon is a good budget horror game with heavy Japanese stylization behind it.

Tenchu.

Love that game
Hah! And I thought I was having dementia because no one here mentioned the series at first.

Fucking THIS. Tenchu is damn amazing. I am highly disappointed that people don't seem to acknowledge its greatness here.

Man, they could do such a great new entry on the new systems...

Edit: What, they didn't do the first two? :<

There's an area in the game called the From Cave which has shittons of FromSoft references. Also there's a Moonlight Sword. It's a pretty easy mistake to make, really.

King's Field IV, Cookie and Cream, Otogi and the like are my favorites but I've always enjoyed the quirky nature of their games. Even stuff like Evergrace and Eternal Ring were enjoyable despite being panned by the press.

Also, ACQUIRE made Tenchu in the past, not FROM Software. FROM has published and did develop the XBLA title released in 2008 but the rest of the series was made by ACQUIRE. They also published 3D Dot Game Heroes, I believe.

Was it just me, or was Otogi2 a real technical showcase back in its day?

I remember being impressed as hell by it graphically, as well as it being a truly excellent game. Its just kinda struck me by a lot of recent comments saying FROM aren't really known for their tech... maybe I should dig out my big black box o' doom and remind myself... (assuming the capacitor hasn't burst by now lol)

Otogi/Otogi2 were easily my favourite FROM titles from back in the day; the roughness of the King's Field games I found really off-putting back then.

I could never get into the KF stuff. Just felt slow and plodding and way too hard and...wait a damn minute!

But seriously, Armored Core really grew on me during the PS2 generation, and I messed around with a couple of them last gen too. I'd love to see From do another AC game on PS4 now that people seem to have taken more notice of them and maybe they could put a larger budget behind it.

Armored Core obviously but the series has its ups and downs. By that meaning like half of them kinda suck. My favorites have been 3 and For Answer.

I enjoyed the Otogi games back in the day. Really liked the Japanese folklore theme, and the particle effects gave ZoE2 a run for its money from that gen.

Chromehounds was fun too. I remember playing a few confusing hours of various Armored Core games through the years.

As much as I love Armored Core...I have to say Otogi.

The music, the world deformation, the destruction, the water....

Easily my most cherished XBox memory.

Another Century's Episode 2 and 3 are great if you're interested in mecha anime. Crossover like SRW but with ZoE-esque combat instead of TRPG battles.

I played those two so many times I lost count.
