What is the status of Japanese PC games

It seems the PC market is dominated by western developers, but what about the Japanese devs? Most of the Japanese PC games I hear about are ports from consoles like
FFVIII.

japanese make shit tons of pc games

they all star naked anime characters covered in sperm though.

Thats kind of what I was thinking, but I didn't want to get attacked for it.

There is no Japanese PC market aside from what you see in the basements of Akihabara. The Xbox 360 can be found there as well.

The indie, or 'doujin', scene is amazing. Probably my favorite part of gaming for the last few years.

Larger-scale commercial titles, though...yeah, all hentai. Some might pretend to be SRPGs or whatever, but they're all about seeing underage girls covered in sperm in the end.

Japan just can't make proper PC games. Every PC game I played from a Japanese company didn't have decent resolution support or it had bad menus or other things that were just terrible.

This is of course with the exception of Ys I and II Eternal.

Do you like ero-games?

Falcom does not approve of this thread. :(
Agreed. There are a lot of normal Japanese PC games. KOGADO, Falcom, Koei, Enterbrain, System Soft Alpha, to name a few normal publishers.

Unfortunatelly, Dynasty Madden ruined KOEI. They used to make great strategy games, now they just recycle a 10 year old engine for the sangokushi games. It's terrible. They also made decent business sims and fantasy strategy games at one time.

Probably like 30 a month, unless it's a key release day.

Meishoku no Reiki is pretty cool. :D :D :D
Bad art, okay system. If you want a good SRPG, you should try スピたん Spirits Expedition ~in the Phantasmagoria~, and you can't go wrong with any of Studio e.Go! games. :D

Don't know, but I do own Japanese version releases of the following games:

Street Fighter Zero
Street Fighter Zero 2
Ys I and II Complete
Ys VI: The Ark of Napisithim
Ys: The Oath of Felghana

If you have to ask...

Of course these are pornographic videogames concocted for the sexual arousement of lone males, but you've misunderstood my point. I didn't see any allusion to it in the thread so far.

Why can't Japan be a prolific market for PC games? Of course hentai games couldn't be allowed on consoles since of the manufacturers' strict policies that moderate explicit content, but are Japanese people such huge inhibited amateurs of animated sexual games that the vast majority of commercial computer games can't be about anything else?

Would it be because in the past other computing platforms than the traditional IBM PC held its place, like I don't know... the MSX, and then for some reason PC computers weren't ever able to gain its dominant position on the market? Or could it be related to the Japanese's complex alphabet composed of hundreds of kanji signs that don't bode extremely well to ASCII-like keyboards, thus making the development of convenient PC games hard to accomplish?

Might as well note that the GGX games get frequent releases on PC, and the PC has the best ports of Virtual On and Virtua Fighter 2. Well, maybe on that last one. Haven't played the Sega Ages release.

Sorry, I meant console games for viable consoles. Clearly N-Gage/PSP don't count. :P
Gurumin on PSP is awesome. :D

I'm kinda glad I waited to play it as the PSP version is really good (unlike Ys VI, which Falcom did NOT port).

Falcom also has Eiyuu Densetsu VI coming to PSP soon. I know they are ports, but any Falcom is good Falcom.

The only recent Falcom game I couldn't get into was Xanadu Next. It felt like a Diablo clone or something and didn't really hold me like I had hoped.

There's actually a handful of non-ero games that come out in Japan that are interesting but usually not very good.

Any pics? Recommendations? Lets open this thread up a little. :)

The sad part is, you paid money for that. Don't lie Marvel, you told me the truth, already.

One thing I never understood is why your disembodied hand is wearing a glove when you're naked. I mean, I've never played this game before.
