What is with this "Exclusively for Prime Members" BS Amazon has been pulling lately?

Previous two items (sold and shipped by Amazon) I ordered with free p&p from Amazon UK:

Before they introduced the new minimum spend for free delivery, I would receive items within 3 days of placing the order.

You aren't inadvertently selecting the no rush shipping option by any chance, are you? It adds several days to the delivery time.

They want you to subscribe to Amazon Prime.

I haven't bought anything from Amazon in ages, they just aren't all that any more and I've got no need for Prime which is getting pushed across the board at Amazon. I'm not shopping at bloody Costco.

I'm the exact opposite, almost anything I buy that isn't groceries, clothing or anything that I must buy locally comes from Amazon. The only time I really ever buy anything online that isn't from Amazon is from specialty shops with products Amazon doesn't carry.

Just did a test order which was eligible for free postage.

FREE Delivery : get it by Feb. 24-26 <Only free option
Standard Delivery : get it by Wednesday, Feb. 24 <+£4.75
Expedited : get it by Tuesday, Feb. 23 <+£7.16

Pretty sure that's what I saw with screen capped order, too.

Ahhh ok, that was just my first thought since I made that mistake once when I saw FREE and clicked it without paying attention.

Here are my options, maybe No-Rush shipping isn't available everywhere (or for everything).

No worries.

I think I've seen no rush option before, but not on UK Amazon.

Where in the UK do you live if you don't mind me asking? I looked at my brothers non Prime account. If he order Dying Light now he would get it between 24-26 (free delivery). No where near as long as you had to wait.

If he got it on the 24th. If he got it on the 26th then it'd be the same number of days as my DL order.

I live in the north of England.

(tl;dr at bottom of post.)

My courier and mail delivery are exemplary. And I am not exaggerating in the least bit; I am one of the only people I know online who doesn't have a grudge to bear against Yodel. Yup. My local Yodel delivery is timely and trustworthy. (I do not work for Yodel! xD) Same goes for every other courier company that delivers in my area. My Royal Mail delivery is also very, very good; I often rent games from Boomerang and, 48/50, will receive the game the day after despatch. So it isn't the delivery that's to blame. And up until a last month, all Amazon items were delivered via their own courier service. Sometimes last thing on a Saturday night and all of a day or two after I'd ordered it.

tl;dr: Local courier and mail services are excellent. (Best I know of online. Even Yodel!) Even Amazon were brilliant up until these latest orders.

It happens to me as well and I live in London. Even with workplace deliveries to Farringdon, which is about half a mile away from their HQ and banks of Amazon lockers.

Yeah Amazon has been really disappointing for the past few years if you don't have Prime. I remember the goid ol days when it didnt take a week to ship shit, when you only had to spend 25 instead of 50 for free shipping, when Prime was 40 instead of 100, when I didnt have to pay sales tax... If i dudnt gave a 4100 line a credit and 6-12 months no interest i would probably never even use the site.

Can people outside the US sign up for Prime? I actually don't understand why I were sent a package in a Amazon Prime box, when I neither am a member or paid for Prime delivery. Maybe they use those boxes for all customers?

Advertising?

In the UK you can sub to Prime. £79 (which works out to €101/$112) per year.

By prime box, you meant the prime ducktape?

you can't really blame Amazon for sales tax

Costco and Amazon are pretty awesome

Questionable because this:

Hey, remember how awesome Amazon used to be? Well, you can return to the good ol' days any time you like! How? Pay us.

No doubt Prime is great if you're into their video on demand, and you shop with 'em a lot, but it's not worth the money for people who buy only once or twice from 'em every one or two months.

I got Dark Souls 3 day one pre-order for $47 because I'm prime. Worth it. Plus I spend >$1000 per year with them.

Exclusive prices are great
Exclusive items are bullshit!

Is there any precedence for stores doing this? Like I know there's Costco and SamsClub but they deal in bulk, not exactly exclusive items.

I've just been on Amazon to buy a new Dualshock 4 and it's actually a Prime exclusive.

I only buy items from Amazon every few months or so, and I cant really see the point of subscribing when i don't need 1 day delivery. I did try a month of Prime a while ago for the video but I found it quite lacking compared to Netflix.

This new exclusivity bullshit on generic items leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm even less likely to pay for Prime, in the future, out of principle now - even if I order enough items to justify it.

I'm now certainly taking my business to another website for the Dualshock 4.

I tried a month of Prime recently and even paying for Prime is bullshit. All smaller items seem to be either Add-Ons or pantry items that won't ship without some $6 charge. If I have to waste time figuring out how to bundle up my orders, might as well save my $100 and wait for $35 worth of items.

Just go to Best buy and price match it. I guess You want the controller because it's $45

This is especially irritating given I am a Prime member on Amazon.ca, but that membership is not recognized on Amazon.com, so I can't participate in Prime-only Amazon.com offerings, which are often not featured on Amazon.ca. Amazon needs to unify that nonsense.

I should have clarified that I'm in the UK. Amazon are selling it for £40, and I've just found Shopto at under £37, so I'll be buying it from there.

The main reason I wanted to buy from Amazon is because I plan to pick up a few extra items as well (non videogame related) and it would be simpler to get everything in one order. Obviously that plan is out the window now...

The Blu-Ray of 'Heat Remastered: Director's Definitive Edition' was a Prime Exclusive in the UK, I'm not sure why.

They want you to subscribe to Amazon Prime.

That's pretty much it.

I was looking at xbox 360 version of Injustice and found it funny that t was prime exclusive.

But I don't mind ts how I got my neon switch.

All you have to do is click "More Sellers" and you can usually find your item fulfilled by Amazon Warehouse for the price advertised.

Or you could just get Prime. It's a helluva service.

This has only happened to me once and I ended up just not getting the item. I figured it was the universe telling me I didn't need to shop that day.

I have prime, and yeah the price bump a while back really pissed me off it still pays for itself. Primarily the 20% back I get on games and the 5% back I get on everything else at their store using their credit card. I also often buy random stuff that is just a hassle or hard to find locally.

Those aren't from Amazon; those are from third party sellers. You cannot buy it directly from Amazon unless you have Prime.
If it is "fulfilled by amazon" you are essentially buying it from amazon.

Had the same thing happen with some vitamins I needed. Exclusively for Prime Members! Well Amazon, my money went Exclusively to Walmart for the same damn thing at the same damn price without any stupid restrictions.

i've really been leaning away from shopping at amazon recently. this kind of stuff makes me want to just let my prime expire.

Are you kidding me? You have a membership to a service that gives you benefits above non-members and this makes you want to cancel? What planet is this?

This stuff doesn't anger me nearly as much as that "Album Only" fuckery iTunes likes to try running.

I have never paid for a complete digital album to get one track and never will.

That's how long this has been going on? I run the family Amazon account, and we probably spend less than $100 a year on there. It's convenient at times, sure. But one thing we've relied on in the past were K-Cup varieties, and now those are often locked behind Prime. It sucks.

Was gonna buy a DVD set some weeks ago, but they I couldn't since I don't have prime and there's no real value of getting prime since I don't live in a country that got amazon locally...

If it is "fulfilled by amazon" you are essentially buying it from amazon.

Isn't it possible to get bootlegs if you buy certain items though?

Prime is awesome. From the free image and music storage space, to the free shipping, to the free books and the video streaming, I certainly feel a get a lot more for my $100 with Prime than I do for the same out of my Netflix.

It's really not that egregious, but the complaint coming from a Prime member seems especially odd to me.

i think my Prime is going to expire in a month or so. it's not like i'm going to cancel it today due to outrage, you're right, it isn't so egregious, i just don't like it.

i've been thinking more about buying stuff from businesses that employ people in my community is all. this type of practice pushes me more in that direction.
