What is your all-time FAVORITE LEGO set?

I fucking loved this one as a kid:

Is there a freeware program that imitates lego? Where you can have unlimited pieces and make whatever you want. Sort of like digital Lego. That would be a nice time waster.

Man, if there's something I'd love about having a child would be buying LEGO sets for him/her and helping building it (aka, building it all myself probably, lawl).

Classic space series still makes my heart pound. But if I have to pick my all-time favourite, it'll have to be one of the trains.
332xxld.jpg

My first train set, I was very young at the time I got it and very envious because the kid next door had the bigger train (the yellow one). Still loved it to death and it's every now and then I toy with the idea to buy one if I find it.

I havent been this happy in a long long time. All these pictures really warms my sole. Lego was my fuckin life. My parents never where the riches, it always felt like someone had more and better, and didnt appreciate it and therefore didnt deserve it. But now looking at all these pictures and understanding how many i really had, warms my heart so much that i cant describe it. My parents must have been going through lots of trouble and spending way to much of their money som that they could please my hobby.

So many of my favourites are already in the thread: one of the castles(the smallar one, my stupid fucking cousin had that biggest shit), the arctic base someone was talking about, the shark, that aqua vehicle from the big one, The red robot(second one i think) and the whole red space series posted above. But i felt that i atleast could supply one:

My neighbour had this. Had one of the large pirate ships too. His parents were divorced, so huge lego sets were part and parcel of having a guilty father :p

Like many of you my parents wouldn't stretch to the larger sets, most of my stuff was in the smaller range. The largest I had was this, which I loved:

display.cgi

But tbh, most of my favourites were the smaller ones. I had pirate ones mostly, but also city ones. I always dreamed of building a whole city using the city sets, but quickly realised I'd never be able to do it justice...so I mostly then built hybrid weird things using bits and pieces from a variety of sets :)

Fuuck, i had this amongst a few other Ice explorer sets (i don;'t know what they were actually called). They were definitely some of my favourites.

I'm sure nearly all of them are in the loft somewhere..

That thing went so hard. I was always setting up missions and stuff, you could make it like a R&D mission and then have others attack.. I was didn't have the other robots so I just made the wolfpack go forward in time..The robot dudes would always win cuz they had the escape pods. Man acid is great.

Always wanted this one

lego-6243.jpg

I had a boat and it would float, would play with it in the pool.. Man lego was cool.. I'm going to check out the new ones at walmart and probably get all disappointed

That big-ass castle is probably my favorite, second being the only pirate ship posted on the front page (wtf how is that only posted once...) So here's another good one...

@XMonkey It's like an ore picker-upper thing from Command and conquer.
I had that thing too, so much funn

Yes, there is, but I've forgotten it's name.

I had the smaller blue and white Spanish explorers one with sails you could hoist.

I had that one. Working dashboard with the frog lights you could swing up. It's how I learned about car gears. I also had its successor, the red sports car with the pneumatic powered convertible roof and kickass panelling.

Aquanauts/Aquasharks! Of course. As well as the Western theme:

6755-1.jpg

YOU STUCK THE DYNAMITE IN AND THE SIDE OF THE JAIL FUCKING EXPLODES.

That one as well as the huge ass fort set.

Jeebus I love me some LEGOs. Favorite toy of all-time. This was the finest set I ever owned and regarded by many as the best LEGO ever rolled out:

Other sets I owned:
1682-1.jpg

6356-1.jpg

6381-1.jpg

6925-1.jpg

I think I might start buying some old sets again. Some that I've always wanted:

Man, most of those LEGO sets from the 90s and 2000s I've never even seen before.

The old Castle sets, I have, in catalogs and on shelves, I just never got any of 'em cause I was pretty much only into space, from old Classic Space upto Futuron & Blacktron, and no further. I gotta admit the Black Falcon is awesome.

BTW here's the 3rd and final monorail set:

I would always build the models on the box first, trash them, and then make my own shit. I'm not ashamed to admit my creations were much better. ;)

Ok the one I'm looking for is similar to this
x0wb6b.jpg

But way more epic, I know that this set was in the catalogue the same time as the one I'm thinking of was, because I was torn on which one to get for christmas.

It was bigger, and its head would come off like a little escape pod for the lego man.

That's one of my favourites, I always remember those epic fights against the killer robot with my friends :D.

There are so many great LEGO sets, so it's really hard to choose one, but these two blew my mind.

As a huge Indiana Jones fan, these were like the sets of my dreams, so many great memories with these. I still have both of the sets, with boxes and pieces! Maybe, I'll go down the memory lane tonight.

This is so hot.

So much in this thread is making me question whether it's appropriate for someone in his mid twenties to buy this stuff now that he has money... but I'd totally feel comfortable and unashamed to pick that up :p

Also, did you know lego was so awesome, it helped Kojima and co. wrap their heads around the move to 3D for MGS on the playstation? That's how awesome lego is. I think we need to establish its acceptance as a grown-up creative tool :p

6580-1.jpg

This one convinced me to get all the sets in its theme, which culminated with...
6584-1.jpg

Spent about three months saving up for it. Still got them all boxed. :)

I can't wait to buy my kids lego. I wanted a lot of the sets in this thread but was unable to purchase them, which makes me a little sad.

Any set my kids want, they will have. So help me God.

unf. I loved the space police stuff.

I bought this one for my dad for christmas when I was five: http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6034

I had this castle as well, I remember the first time we built it it fell to the floor and broke apart right when we had finished.

http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6082

I also loved the smaller ones, like the pirate prison or small space vehicles.

one I can't find though: It was a large vehicle of the Space/Ice Planet/Space Police line. It had huge wheels, maybe six and it had a huge almost spherical drivers seat up front. I think the color scheme was blue (Ice Planet), but it could have been any of the others as well, I think it would be a early nineties model. I never actually had the model, I only saw it in catalogs. I wanted it so bad. :(

No shame here. LEGO is the toy that even adults can enjoy. About to turn 28 and I'm planning on buying some old sets off http://www.brickset.com/

My first set:

6087-1.jpg

Value as a motherfucker, it had so many stuff you could do. I remember playing with this for ages. It was also my only set for ages but still.

Ahhh.... So many memories... I remember once building I believe to be the skull head from Mighty max out of legos. I used to construct all sorts of wierd shit, based on stuff I knew.

Holy crap, that was my favourite too.

LEGO in general is just plain awesome. But my favourite was the Roobin Hood styled line, espezially this one:

Not very flash but I loved it. I was probably attracted by the wood theme it has going on. Just loved playing in the woods.

This was my favorite as well. I remember my family and I were vacationing in Hong Kong, and I saw it from a store window and knew I had to get it. Parents bought it, and my brother and I spent the rest of the time putting it together in the hotel room. Taking it back home on the plane was definitely a chore.

The pirate ship was the only big one I had. There was a smaller one though that was pirate related as well, had a crocodile, a skeleton, a palm tree, some treasure.

edit: this one I think. Guess it didn't come with the crocodile/alligator.

This is sitting on the shelf above my entertainment center as we speak.

As for my favorite, I owned and loved a ton of the space and castle sets in this thread (and that pirate ship even, mmm), but these two have got to take the cake:

Oh and I don't think I saw anyone mention these:

Also, anyone remember this one? You had to buy two separate sets and there were special instructions to use the pieces for both to build this combined super-dude:

6862-1.jpg

M-Tron fucking rocked my world.

Oh shit I just remembered the second generation Blacktron, too. These were the shit:

I actually might be remembering THIS combined ship, not the M-Tron one. It looks more familiar.
