What is your favorite war movie?

Apocalypse Now.

It's certainly not the most realistic depiction of war, but it does capture the sense of hell and insanity in a way that no other film has.

Saving Private Ryan
Black Hawk Down
Bridge over the River Kwai

Band of Brothers is like multiple really long movies, and it's the hands down the best.

Paths of Glory is so, so good. It's not epic in the way that so many other war movies are, but that's to its benefit. It's spare and focused (under 90 minutes). No scenes are wasted, so the whole thing is memorable. One of the rare movies that I remembered start to finish after only a single viewing.

ctrl+f "Pearl Harbor"

I'm proud of you guys

My pick is Full Metal Jacket, but only during the training, the Vietnam part is kinda meh.
Also Saving Private Ryan

So many war movies I still haven't seen. I compiled the full list so far for myself in the rough order of posting and I'll post it here if the OP wants to include it the first post. Maybe someone with more time than me can break it down by genre. Apologies if I missed your favorite movie or listed something twice.

Where Eagles Dare is by far my favourite because of rose tinted glasses + Clint + Burton

but Platoon was brilliant aswell, I also love SPR and Band of Brothers should get a mention as a 10hr movie.

Apocalypse Now

Paths of Glory

I've only seen about half of it, but Come and See has the potential to be in my top three.
