what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Infinite Space (DS).

Just finished the game and It was quite an epic journey.
Great storyline, full of plot twists and heartbreaking moments. This game and Radiant Historia are truly jrpg gems on the DS.

Plugging away at Tales of Hearts R. I'm a sucker for this series.

I'm about 20 hours in. Hopefully be done within the next couple weeks... then we start Xenoblade 3DS.

I just started playing Xenoblade Chronicles again using Dolphin. I hadn't gotten far before, I think because my Wii was hooked up to an SDTV and I wasn't too motivated to move the Wii to a TV where I'm more comfortable (in the living room), I just stopped playing it.

I bought the 3ds version too, but I wasn't really feeling it, playing it on the small screen and my hands tend to cramp up after playing 3DS for a while, too.

Hopefully I actually finish it this time and don't let The Last Story, which is also in my backlog, tempt me away...

You may want to consider finishing The Last Story first if it is tempting you, it is a much, much shorter game.

Took me about 25 hours, give or take, to finish and it comes complete with one of the best post games in a JRPG to date. Loved this game.

I'm on a bit of an RPG binge at the moment. Playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD right now. I plan on going for the platinum trophy. After that I have Ni No Kuni in my backlog. Then I'll tackle KH2.5 HD and BBS.

I also have to play Final Fantasy X-2 still after replaying X for the first time in years not too long ago.

Thinking I may even put Batman: AK on hold until I finish KH 2.5. Maybe.

Persona 3 for the first time, Final Fantasy XII for the second time (albeit International edition with the amazing improvements). Can't get enough of the latter, and the former is going well too - I've only gotten into Persona recently with P4:Golden last autumn. Very enjoyable series!

I'm tempted to try Xenoblade Chronicles at some point since I've heard some favourable comparisons to FFXII, especially regarding the combat.

First time playing, and I'm loving every second of it.

Don't expect the combat to be anywhere near as good as FFXII, it is a more basic and gimmicky version of it (forget about programming partner AI).

To me combat was one of the weakest aspects of Xenoblade.

I have a friend who tries to convince me that the combat in xenoblade is really good, but it really takes away from the game for me.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

While I'm in the middle of a bunch, the only one I'm really actively playing is Dragon Quest VII 3DS. It's the first time I've felt confident enough to really play much of an RPG in Japanese, and it's been much easier to read and understand than most due to the clear kanji font and furigana. Next up is Vesperia PS3, which I put about two hours into. It's a bit more challenging to understand, but the voice acting helps immensely. I just have to look up far more words and kanji in the dictionary than Dragon Quest.

Of course, since I'm playing the longest, slowest Dragon Quest at a slower speed than normal, I may not finish for another few years.

Been feeling pretty lethargic and can't figure out what I want to play. Have a number of options for PS2 games.

.Hack
Xenosaga
Persona 3
SMT Nocturne
SMT DDS 1
FFXII

I've at least started .Hack, P3, and FFXII but it's been a while for .Hack and FF, and P3 didn't stick with me for whatever reason.

Thanks, I did not know this. I've heard other opinions saying Xenoblade has better combat than FFXII but perhaps this is due to the latter being so polarising (especially the gambits, which I love personally). However I do like the "offline MMO" feel of running around a large field and approaching the enemies to fight in real-time, so perhaps I would still enjoy it...?

Unfortunately I haven't seen the gambit system adopted into many other games; such a pity as I thought it was a great evolution.

I started playing Type 0 yesterday and finished the first 2 chapters. It's pretty good so far...

Graphics are weird, I understand that it's a PSP game remade in HD, but the texture quality is all over the place - some of them were definitely cleaned up, others have been run over with some of those ugly-ass Gears of War style shaders, and still others are blocky like PS1 textures. Not consistent at all.

I don't like the RTS scenes, since I am not a fan of that genre at all. I hope there's not many of them.

The actual combat is pretty cool and feels much more fluid than Episode Duscae. I like being ranked on missions.

Music is crazy epic, operatic vocals and chanting all over the place. Nothing really stands out to me so far but it's still pretty good.

So anyways, I heard that you
need to replay this game to get the whole of the story
... true or not? Can you
new game + and speed through the replay?

Time will be really tight these next few weeks so this'll probably take me a while.

Playing Type 0 as well, I'm on chapter 4.

The story is ok but the gameplay is a bit weird (maybe because of the camera).
Oh and why my allies just kill themselves when I encounter a high level monster ? Or on a boss that can OS you with some attack, they just don't want to move their ass...

Up to floor 3 of the Inaba Pride Exhibit labyrinth in Persona Q. Fuck the FOEs in this dungeon are annoying. I cannot for the life of me figure out the movement pattern to the muscly dudes. I get that they chase two panels at a time and one when carrying fire or one around corners, and they return to their spots one at a time and can't see behind themselves. Their horizontal movement when grouped together is beyond me though, and unlike every other FOE so far, I can't figure out how to get past them when it counts. So fuck it. They're tough to run from but thankfully they can be killed relatively easily - It just takes a while. I killed probably a dozen filling out the floor 2 map, and I expect to kill many more.

Finished Persona 4 Golden for a 2nd time with everything completed except for the book trophy.
Damn book cost me platinum...smh.

I wonder which game I should play next --- Oreshika or Ys Celceta.

Devil Survivor Overclocked.
I have no idea how my n3dsxl is still intact and working.
Really good game but has some of the most insane difficulty spikes i've ever met in gaming. So frustrating.

Don't you love kicking ass on the map and an event occurs where you have to now save someone who is across the map from your characters, or escape without losing anyone with the enemy next to you and the escape point is across the map? Good times.

Infinite Space (DS).

Just finished the game and It was quite an epic journey.

Infinite Space may be my best JRPG. I'm scared about the gameplay mechanics and difficulty though (I can't watch those videos). I love space operas, and the story seems like something I'd love.

Finished Ys I & II Chronicles+. The first was more challenging and better imo but I still enjoyed both of them. It took me about 14 hrs to beat each.

Yesterday I started Agarest: Generations of War 2. The battle system really improved in this game compared to its previous games.

Just got done finishing up Persona 4G. I think I will begun Tales of Xillia 2, or Symphony after finishing The Witcher 3.

Final Fantasy X.

That music, that story. Played it back in 2002 and replaying it now on the PS4. So much nostalgia, so much joy!

Tales of the Abyss. To be honest, I haven't finished a JRPG since Vesperia, and after the Final Fantasy XIII fiasco I practically had a trauma with the genre. I hope this one is at least enjoyable

Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS, I'm about 55hrs in and at
Sword Valley
. This is my third attempt, I'm gonna beat it this time...!

Dragon Quest VIII is up next and then I'll be burnt out of RPGs for a while.

Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS. First SMT game ever(including spin-offs).

Holy BALLS is this game brutal. Shit makes Souls games look forgiving by comparison. Not very far in, but it feels like I'm going to basically be limping along, saving every 5 minutes.

Wow, I love SMT and just started Demon Souls. I'm getting my ass kick really hard.

Can I just hop in with Persona 4 for PS2/PS3/PSN without playing the others? If so, I'll probably buy the Vita TV to play it.

I'm on my 3rd generation in Oreshika Tainted Bloodlines.

(Which has been the most perfect "lunch-Vita" game for me ever...I just lose all track of time and space!)

Having a blast.

tales of vesperia finally. started it before and got about 6 hours into it before I sold the 360 off. now I re bought the console and ready to give this some serious attention next to Fallout 3. the characters are fantastic already and I love the art/music direction

I'm currently (and slowly) playing Ys VI. This one, Origin and The Oath of Felghana are a damn good trilogy. It's a bit slower than the other two, but still a lot of fun.

Also, dat godlike music.

SMT 4.

It just came out this in Europe for those of you who don't know.
I finally got some time to play it.
Enjoying it so far, really appreciate the removal of random skill inheritance.

Just finished Tales of Vesperia. I liked the characters but thought the story was pretty weak. Going to finish Xenoblade next. Think im about halfway through.

PS3: just started Tales of Xilia 2
PS4: just started type 0
iOS: just started FF6

I want to finish one of these, but just got Witcher 3 and that's fun. Also rotating MKX, DOA5, and Street Fighter IV. But I want to finish all of them by summers end.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for PSP. This combat system is fucking amazing, and landing the combos to be able to use each character's super is so satisfying. Enjoying the overall story too though there hasn't been much of it so far outside of the recruitment of new characters.

The beginning of that game is notoriously rough even for veterans of the series. The game does get easier as you fuse more demons and learn more skills to keep yourself alive.

Also, a tip. Always fuse demons whenever you can. Never get too attached to a particular demon for more than a few levels. You should always be trying to fuse the highest level demons you can.

I'm playing Final Fantasy X HD on the PS4. I haven't played FFX since it was released on the PS2, so it's pretty nice to return to Spira.
I might start FFX-2 later, but I'll perhaps take a break after FFX and play my next jrpg when Tales of Zestiria is released.
