what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Started playing Enchanted arms on ps3. I like it so far. I went into it expecting nothing and so far I am not disapointed. Nothing spectacular but fun.

I like the auto battle option as the AI does a pretty good job at winning the battles

Any tips?

SMT IV - finally in
Tokyo
. Game is more fun now that I my party is more varied and missions are less linear.

Persona 3 Portable - Probably should have played this before 4G. Everything feels like a rough draft, P4G without the style. The music hasn't caught me yet either, and I loved all of the music in P4G save a song or two.

Still chugging through Xenoblade, almost at the end of my second playthrough. My goal now is to get Asura armor for every party member before starting playthrough #3 and then doing all of the sidequests so I can
get everyone's hidden skill trees
. Sigh. It's tedious, but it's tedium I appreciate.

Still chipping away at XBC3D. Game is great, but I have this constantly overwhelming feeling of dread from all the sidequests...

I had to learn to give up on the sidequests in order to finish the game. Colony 6/portable gem crafter are the only side missions I really actively tried for.

Right now my JRPG is Bravely Default. I love how the battle system works and what Square did with it. This game is what JRPGs should model around. If the next Nintendo handheld gets rid of the second screen, I will miss it when playing JRPGs and Pokemon.

etrian odyssey 4
i beat the 5th stratum and fire dragon. cant kill storm dragon yet ;_;
iam already craving eo5. need more details on it asap

a bit, their should be a demo on eshop
not a series for everyone

I liked the demo. My thing is that I have a bunch of JRPGs in my backlog and I don't want to take on another game that takes 60 hours easily to play through the story.

I do have a dream of finishing my backlog in this lifetime.

I'm catching up on some old PS2 and Wii gems due emulation. At the moment I'm near the end of Final Fantasy XII and I'm loving it.
Can't decide if I play DQ VIII or Xenoblade Chronicles next. But they all have one thing in commin: they look absolutely stellar with emulation, especially Xenoblade Chronicles with all texture upgrades.

I've been sitting on Xenogears the past couple of months. I got to Shevat and just kinda stopped. I should probably get back to it. Birth By Sleep is another one sitting in my backlog. I think I'm on the Ventus play through after beating it with Terra.

Just beat Final Fantasy IV (PSP) and Dragon Quest V (DS) back to back. Gonna be pretty difficult to top this for a while. :P
I've already posted my thoughts on DQ V at the other thread, so regarding FF IV: it's pretty good, probably one of the better FF titles overall (my ranking would be something like: VI = IX > VII = X > IV > XII > VIII > XIII). Very nice pacing (and fast, too! I was really surprised at how little filler there is in this game), cool setpieces, great soundtrack, nice difficulty (something sorely lacking in the series for quite a while imo) and just an overall solid experience. The "true" villain was boring though. I was also a bit disappointed you never got to have a (harder) rematch against Golbez considering he was my favorite boss fight storywise.

I'll probably go back to Devil Survivor Overclocked now. I had started it a couple months ago and was enjoying it before I stopped for some reason.
I'm also planning on starting Dragon Quest II and maybe Final Fantasy I sooner or later.

Though those will have to wait for a while since I gotta start and beat MGS: Peace Walker in order to prepare myself for Phantom Pain next month.

At around chapter 30 of Last Story. Might end up being one of my favorite JRPGs to come out of last gen. Makes me happy they are still introducing new combat techniques. Story is damn thrilling with almost no padding. So glad I have this one another try.

EO's maingame is never a grindfest unless you're really undecisive and choose to respec your skills often

Suikoden V isn't sticking so I'm thinking of changing things up a bit. Someone compared Dragon Quest IX's equipment collection to Diablo 3's loot grind, how true is this? Would love a JRPG where you can power up by grinding/searching for new loot too and not just by leveling up. Don't even care about the story, just want a fun turn-based JRPG to play for later.

Might be the wrong topic but do we have anything about FF Agito on vita ?
I just rememered I actually pre-ordered it a few months ago. Even if I forgot about it I was quite thrilled at the idea of playing it

Finally got a 360. I have Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean TLH, and Tales of Vesperia. Any suggestions on which one to start with?

I've been playing the PSP version of Lunar lately. I like it quite a lot, it reminds me a lot of Grandia 1, especially music-wise.
Not the deepest JRPG but it is very charming and refreshing.

Just finished trails in the sky and moved onto this. I bought lunar 2 awhile back but figured I should play through the first one. SSH seemed like a streamlined way to do it. Enjoying it, but I also just bought Strange Journey, so that's calling to me as well.

final fantasy 7 on my iphone 6+ with my madcatz C.T.R.L.i and my apple lightning to hdmi adapter.

amazing just simply amazing

In order of preference:
Tales of Vesperia
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Star Ocean

You could also play one turn based game, then action based game.

I just bought Persona 4 and Nocturne for PS2. I'm still currently playing Suikoden 2.

Previously I was playing Lost Odyssey. I don't know why but the game started out awesome for me but I lost interest by the end. The battles were really slow and took a long time. They were never challenging, just took too long. It reminds me of FF9 in that. It also turned into a more traditional standard JRPG story than I was expecting from the beginning. Some of these boss battles on the 4th disc are incredibly annoying. The kids irritate me. I also thought there would have been more characterization than there has been. I feel pretty much the same way about the characters on the 4th disc as I felt about them on the 1st disc. I kind of want to finish the game now just so I can cross it off the list.

Last month I said I was impressed with LO and was telling people to check it out. I don't know if I would recommend it now. That's disappointing.

Picked SMT4 back up after putting it down a while ago.
Just witnessed the execution of the Black Samurai and I'm super interested in seeing where the story goes from here.
Battle system is a ton of fun, even though I wish I could do less random encounters.

Eh? The game has no random encounters.

I'm about 30 hours into Suikoden 2. I beat it when it came out but it's been so long ago I've forgotten the story so it's all new again. I'm using a FAQ to get all 108 because I didn't the first time I played through. Next up is gonna be Tales of Symphonia Chronicles.

I'm back trying to complete Mega Man Legends 2. Outside of graphics and controls, it's really nowhere near as good as the first game. Kind of regret spending so much money on it.

No, not really. You can very much just run away from the spawning enemies unless they spawn in awkward positions.
Awkward positions, getting cornered, and you can't really avoid them if you need to go somewhere most of the time. I realize now I have the wrong word choice, but I'm failing to think of a term other than non-boss battle.

I own all four of these games. Vesperia and Lost Odyssey are the only two good ones in that list in my opinion. Blue Dragon and SO4 are terrible.

Man great pick. Very different game than xenoblade, which I finished right before this, but I enjoyed it just as much.

Xenoblade and The Last Story is the best one - two punch on a Nintendo home console since SNES.

I went crazy and pre-ordered the following games:

The Legend of Legacy
Dragon Quest Heroes
Trails of Cold Steel
Persona 5
Digimon Cyber Sleuth
Fire Emblem Fates

I have a crap ton of games in my backlog, with these ones adding to the pile.

I already have Tales of Zestiria pre-ordered from before and Yakuza 5 will be bought day one.

Still to pre-order:

Exist Archive
Star Ocean 5
NieR 2
Dragon Quest XI
Bravely Second
FFXV (maybe)

Then I am waiting on word for DQH2, DQ 3DS, SaGa 2015, Berseria, Trails in the Sky: SC and Trails of Cold Steel: 2C.

My wallet is bleeding and these are only the games I can remember right now.

I have missed this (on consoles).

I've been playing Tales of Xilla and I am surprised at how much fun it is.

I am stuck on Xenoblade at the moment. Everytime I go do
the sidequest for "Save the workers". The enemies do an arte seal on my characters. Is there anyway to prevent that from happening?

Romancing Saga (SFC/SNES). Never played a saga game before...love this game. Had to put Dragon Quest III and Ace Attorney Trilogy on hold for this.

Getting towards the end of the game. Think I screwed up the elder dragon quest somehow.
Flame Tyrant won't ask me for the ice sword and just says "welcome" =(.

I recently picked up a PS Vita and started replaying FFVI for the first time in a decade. This game really beings me back. After that I'll probably try to finish FFV once and for all.
