What major franchise will adopt VR first.

despite the stigma of never releasing, i've always thought half life 3 would be an appropriate re-entry for valve, in VR

gordon is a silent protagonist - there is also never a moment where the experience is not charted through his eyes (no cinematics)

its the perfect vehicle for a VR game, and half life has tended to break paradigms with every release anyway, so it only makes sense

that being said it'll never happen lol
It would make to much sense to happen ;)

I think with VR, we're going to see a resurgence in cockpit based games...so like driving a car, flying a plane, piloting a mech etc...Those are the easy things to design for and provide max immersion. Something like an FPS is bit more difficult, since it's not a 1:1 with turning your head to look at places.

yeah Gran Turismo will probably be the first to do it right.

Some people have there mind set on a certainty that FPS like COD can just translate over to VR. Any future FPS is probably not going to operate as the traditional game variant. Even if you slap the COD name on it, it won't be the same or necessarily any good in the first place. People are going to have to get used to the fact that some game types do not work in VR and will be replaced by other genres entirely different but more suited to the medium

Ass Creed seems like a good candidate with the period settings. Nothing fancy, just the standard third-person camera but with the ability to look around if you want to.

The better question is what major franchise will adopt VR well.

Thats true which one won't make me puke ;)

Wish the new doom had VR support for the people that could take it tho. because I would love to try that in VR and I've heard reports of people playing quack and the old doom fine on VR

the Final Fantasy XIV Dev team is very interested in adding some kind of VR mode into the game, probably for the next expansion. (I'm not sure if VR is feasible in this type of MMO but we'll see)

probably a franchise that's major but not too major

VR will still have a relatively small user base for a few years

I tend to feel like many established franchises aren't going to just translate well into VR, though big racing and flight series are an obvious exception.

But one thing I'd actually love to see would be a Shadow of the Colossus rework. Man it would be fuckin' unreal to have to deal with those bosses at proper scale. When I booted up Windlands the other day and saw the big golem that he added to the intro that is walking past, I immediately thought of SotC.

I really hope we don't have to wait long for good sports games. Bowling, tennis, golf, home run derby, etc. This will be so amazing.

Praying that Driveclub VR still happens somehow :(

Any kind of racing though really. Wave Race VR? YES!

Ace Combat 7 is already confirmed for VR

Yeah, isn't this the clearest example. Not the biggest franchise in the world but still a pretty big deal.

Probably the one game that will convince me to get PSVR over the competing devices....well that and the fact that my PC is way behind atm. lol

Elder Scrolls would work for me.

That's the best idea I have heard ever. Bro work for Sony now and get on it :D

I could see some baby steps like cod for sure but it's Activision so it will be.
Cod zombies vr dlc ps4 exclusive 49.99

Ace Combat 7 is already confirmed for VR

Wait, isn't AC 7 releasing with VR support?

Guys, Ace Combat is a major franchise that's adopting VR.
Thanks to 6 being Xbox 360 exclusive and Assault Horizon being shit people forget that Ace Combat is a AAA franchise.

7 looks like a return to form and from what I hear it will be in Strangereal.

Ace Combat is the kind of game that would work in VR without any changes, just restrict VR use to cockpit mode and it's good to go. It will play the same in and out of VR. I'll probably buy a flightstick and a cheap chair to attach them to for using in VR.
