What PS4 shooter are you playing this fall?

This is the worst time for shooters since before Wolfenstein 3D came out, so uh... more Uncharted Collection, I guess? I'll try to rent Black Ops III just to run through the campaign, if I can.

Both TPS and FPS are in a pretty sad state, right now. I'm not really looking forward to anything in that space until Uncharted 4.

I'm not as negative as you are about this because I'm still having fun with friends online in these shooters, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't simply killing time until Uncharted 4. Battlefront's fine, Black Ops 3 is fine, Destiny is Destiny, but none of them are scratching the itch. 3rd person shooters are pretty dismal right now though, I'll agree with that.

I won't take it well if DOOM 4 ends up sucking. Every FPS we get these days that isn't CoD, Far Cry, Halo/Destiny seems like a gift from the gods, to me.

It's been a year and a half since Wolfenstein. :(

Zero interest in any of the shooters this holiday besides Halo 5, and even then it'll be mostly campaign and Warzone. I'll be playing Destiny as usual but avoiding the PVP part since it's so bad. The BLOPS3 beta did nothing for me and I didn't like the Battlefront Beta much.

My PS4 will get playtime from other games though, mainly Bloodborne and the JRPG backlog that's starting to build. I may get Fallout on there too. And need to catch up on Uncharted Collection.

The UC4 beta is this holiday isn't it? I'll be on that forsure.

The Doom 4 footage didn't do much for me, so I'm not holding my breath for that one. Shadow Warrior 2 is much more likely to be something I'll have a good time with. Beyond that and UC4, I can only hope Remedy nails Quantum Break especially since there's no other TPS on the horizon.

At least we have a new Wolfenstein to look forward to in 2017 :D

Did you not play the old blood/new blood, whatever it was called

Battlefront for sure, already preordered digitally.

I may gamefly BLOPS3 just to check it out, and R6Siege Beta was fun too so that is a possibility in December.

I will also have Halo 5 on Xbone plus Destiny TTK to cover my shooter needs there too.

That reminds me, is there any way to cancel a digital preorder if its paid already?

So many Destiny replies. I am not into modern gaming, but my impression here is that the game was a rip off with little content. Is the continued playing due to the MMO hooks?

Absolutely. You can always make those numbers go just a little higher it seems

The Taken King is what Destiny should have launched as, so now is a fine time to jump in for $60. You get your money's worth now.

Ask me a year ago and I was singing a different tune.

I finally purchased a current-gen console, specifically, the Destiny PS4 Bundle. I too played the Battlefront Beta, which was awesome since you didn't need a PS+ account. Now that that's over, it's time to purchase a PS+ account, and play me some Destiny.

As a complete novice to the franchise, is there any advice on where to start? Should I play solo for now, and then join a team later? If anyone wants to add me on PSN, my tag is EGMbrooks.

FYI, i might've already redeemed a PS+ voucher on my PS3, and therefore I'm not sure if I can do the PS+ 15-day trial. Then again, I haven't tried yet, but the indication I got while browsing the the store is that I wasn't entitled to a trial...

Yeah, expect to be doing a lot of solo Destiny. Story missions don't have matchmaking, so you either have to do it by yourself or invite a friend that is willing to carry you.

You get matchmaking with Strikes, but I wish it was more like Phantasy Star Online, where they would just automatically match you up with 3 other similarly levelled people to take on story missions. For being online-only, Destiny is a very lonely game.

It's because the game has improved like....a lot

It's funny for a game lacking in social features, it's the most social I have ever been in a game. A community grew out of a game with zero tools, people made their own and found a way

This is what I was concerned about with Destiny. I purchased the game a year ago and wound up trading it in because I felt like I was by myself for a good bit of the time. I was thinking about picking it up again with the new expansion after hearing how much fun people are having with it.

So far, I'm leaning towards Star Wars Battlefront. I had a great time with the beta and it seemed to be a more casual experience. I may pick up Black Ops 3 as well. It looks great.

It will likely be just more Destiny. Hasn't worn thin and the new quest structures give it better focus.

Everything else will be PC (Battlefront) or XBO (Halo).

Battlefront all the way. The beta was encouraging and both of my kids (boy AND girl) loved it.

Of course, they loved it because they said it was a lot like PvZ:GW which they play constantly. I will take that as it is! Glad to find a game 3/4 of my family can play.

Playing the Battlefront beta actually kind of swayed me towards a purchase, it's simple and fun. Also helps that it looks gorgeous and Star Wars is one of my favorite franchises of all time. Destiny, possibly Black Ops as well because I loved the beta. Too many games ; ;

By PS4 shooter I'm assuming you meant competitive, but Fallout will obviously be in there too for me.

It would've been Battlefront, but the season pass saw to it that this won't be the case. So now, I don't know. Maybe nothing. I have Taken King but haven't really started playing it yet so the jury's out on that.
