BUMP. because this was the newest thread I found about Crash bandicoot. And I've been playing the PS1 games and they are awesome.
I played a bunch of Crash 1. Caf Jr grew up playing CB games, so he was interested more in reliving the games, and I just watched him finish CB1 getting every secret level, every key, every gem. I've always thought the secret gems concept was a great way to make the game live longer - you have to beat levels breaking every crate (and of course finding every crate) and not dying to earn a gem. Then, in the final Cortex battle stage, each of these found gems appears progressively across a void, and once you've found them all, you can leap across them like stepping stones and see the 'real' ending. We never saw it until tonight - Crash finds his grilfriend (with a body like Pam Anderson) and a huge island bird. They basically mount the bird and fly off the island, and you get to see what happened to each of the main characters.
Oh yeah - Crash Bandicoot can be maddeningly hard! Unlike any of the sequels.
So we started playing the much improved Crash 2. Did you know that Clancy Brown (voice of Lex Luthor and Mr. Krabs, also played in Highlander and Shawshank redemption) does the voice of Cortex?! We just realized it and confirmed it online. Wow!
I think we rented Twinsanity and Crash 4 on Xbox years ago. Not quite as special as any of the PS1 originals, but I think we are going to get them again on the cheap. that is all for now.
