What the hell is 'butt rock'?

I hear the term used on so many different types of gaming soundtracks that I can't discern any one meaning.

when you hear it you just know.

Propeller Arena on dreamcast is one of the best examples of it. game was never released despite being complete.

buttrock: the sort of riffs that nobody who didn't have a poster of the band on their childhood bedroom wall would ever remember or care about

think of how the word 'generic' is used on GAF.

buttrock is that, but rock.

Saw the title and pictured someone sitting on a guitar, trying to get comfortable, and recording the sounds that play. You know, like butt dialing.

Everything Butt Metal.

(It's rock that does basically nothing creative - it's so plain and unengaging that you can't even tell which band plays it. It's music from the ass.)

I've heard people use this term to describe J-Rock

A lot of J-Rock is very samey, for instance the band Nightmare's drummer basically phones in his performance every CD, on some songs you'd think they took away his drumset and only gave him a hi-hat. And then you juxtapose that with their ridiculous outfits and the drummer's totally unnecessary eyepatch and yeah, it's buttrock.

If you can put a $100 dollar bill between your bum cheeks and squeeze so hard that no one can take it without ripping it, then you've got butt rock.

Also, this is the proper planking technique.

It's this rock that you shove up your butt, so that next time someone tells you to "Check this shit out, you'll shit bricks when you see it" about a meme or some shit like that you can go take a dump with the door open and shit the rock, making really loud noises and then you can jokingly say "Yeah, you're right, I am shitting bricks!"

Rock n roll music with shredding riffs, hard rock beats, lyrics about partying, drinking, and girls. You'll know you're near butt rock when you're jeans start ripping automatically.

Based on use around here, it pretty much seems to be any music that is guitar oriented. I've seen Metallica, Foo Fighters, and the Final Fantasy Crisis Core soundtrack all referred to as butt/dad rock.

Further proof that it refers to "rock that I don't like" is the multiple definitions in this very thread that often conflict with each other.
