I know, i know. Raid, right? But this shit is just as effective as a book. And I prefer to use a book because it's cheaper and more fun. The thing is, these insta-kill solutions are good and fun for killing the odd roach you see on the wall every day, but these fuckers must reproduce fast because no matter how many wall roaches I kill I keep seeing more and more of them every day.

I think I heard somewhere that the ones you see on the wall in the day time are the ones that are gonna die soon anyway, so killing them doesn't do much to solve the problem. That would certainly explain why I almost never see baby roaches. It's always the big whopper daddy roaches and every once in awhile the dumb fuck teenager roaches that are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. That would mean the root of the problem would be the ones that only lurk your house at night when everybody is asleep, going into hiding as soon as you wake up.

So what to do? The cat used to kill them regularly, but it hasn't gotten a single roach in two years. It must have lost interest. Is there any kind of magical solution that's easy and quick?

And please, for fucks sake, no images! The last roach thread I looked at got bombarded with pics of these ugly monsters and I couldn't even read past the first page because I was too grossed out.

I tried this already. It worked for a few months, but then they started coming back. Now it's a worse problem than it ever was.

Is it a house or a flat(apartment )? if its a flat then complain to whoever's responsible for communal areas, if its a house then they must be getting food from somewhere, check any basements/lofts and clean thoroughly and repair any holes in the external walls.

Also if its an apartment, it could be somebody elses flat thats causing it.

My GF had an apt long ago and one day discovered roaches. Now, she is a clean freak. So she was surprised to say the least. Bombed the hell outa the place and whatnot, couldnt get rid of them. One day the family below her got kicked out and she found her problem. They lived like fucking slobs! Garbage everywhere! And.... Wall to wall roaches!

So start kicking in doors and see how your neighbors live! Ok, kidding..... kinda......

It's a house. We don't have basements here in south fl so it can't be that. There used to be a bunch of small gaps in the flooring but it's all covered up now. The only entryway I can think of would be through the drains (sink, toilet, tub).

Somehow makes me thankful that in Ireland we don't have Cockroaches! nor do we have Mosquitoes for that matter, same goes for Crickets/cicada's, or any dangerous spiders.
I think the only Irish household pests in some cases are Mice. I think the same can be said for Britain.

It's not like I leave food out everywhere. In fact I never eat in my room because I'm paranoid that if I even drop a crumb, I'll have roaches crawling all over me in my sleep. When I sleep I even stuff shirts in between the door crack to prevent them from crawling from the bathroom to my room. Sometimes I even sleep with the light on, not because I'm afraid of the dark but because roaches seem to hate the light.

And yet guess what happened this morning? Two wall roaches. The light was on all night and my door was barricaded, and they still got in. It's possible that they were already in the room before I went to sleep, but it's still fucked up and it makes me sick of living here.

That sounds creepy, i couldn't imagine what it would be like, i.e we don't have them over here, but it would drive me insane if i barricaded the door to stop them only to wake up and they are there- defying what you did. It might sound like a stupid question, but do they cause any sort of diseases or sicknesses?

If the exterminator was working why did you not continue to have him come out? I always had an exterminator come every month to spray for insects and what not. I considered it a necessary expense as a homeowner.

Plug them up securely when you aren't using them then. Check under appliances; especially your oven.

Also aren't there some slow acting poisons where the bugs eat it and then carry it on their body back to their 'hive' contaminating the space?

My best suggestion is be super clean and lock your food up tightly! Don't let a crumb loose in your cabinets. Also be sure to wash your bedding as often as possible.

Dont mop with pine sol or use any other pine cleaner they get high off it and enjoy it greatly

Mop and clean with Murphys oil soap they hate it

Keep the garbage can outside the back door, not in the house if you can

I suppose in the coldest parts of winter, when it actually gets below freezing, you get a temporary reprieve from insects, but it's always warm enough where there's some sort of bug trying to get inside.

It's not a very large expense, and it's worth it to not have to deal with any sort of infestation.

He should already be getting regular termite inspections. The same people that do that surely offer a monthly service.

There's two types now. I've had experience with 5 types, but 3 of them died out.

One of them looks like your standard roach. The kind that's pictured on Raid bottles and such. Basically, the kind that most people associate roaches with. Look at the wall-e movie for an example.

The other kind is really fucking ugly. They look like the child of a roach and an ugly cricket. In fact, when they first started popping up a year ago my first reaction was naming them mutant cricket roaches. Generally they don't seem to grow as large as normal roaches and you most commonly find mid-size ones. But they can grow larger than normal roaches because I've seen it happen. One of the ones on my wall this morning was at least 2-3 inches long and quite meaty looking. That's not including the feelers.

Please don't post pics to verify.

Permanently got rid of all of the roaches in my house. Just buy a few lot of these, and put them in places where the roaches are likely hiding.

When I was younger, we lived in an apartment building that had roaches. It was impossible to get rid of them, because the landlord would spray one floor, and they'd all just retreat to the next.

We bought this chalk in chinatown - sorry, I have no idea what it's called - and drew lines in the cupboards and wherever they'd come out. It worked beautifully. They wouldn't come near the stuff, and if they did they died. Pretty soon we went from being infested to not seeing them at all. I recommend trying to track some of whatever that stuff is down.
