I hate when people latch onto new technologies/buzzwords without commenting what they want that feature to bring.

The actual mirroring/streaming isn't done via NFC as the bandwidth is way too low (you're dealing with 106, 212 or 424 kbit/s).

NFC is just used as a handshake/bootstrap mechanism. The actual data is typically transmitted via WiFi depending on the implementation.

With that in mind, why the hard on to have this on PS4?

I want a really good dpad for fighters. Free multiplayer. Upload to youtube instead of facebook. I got pretty much all the features I could want and then some from the conference so there's not much I can ask for. Sony thought of everything.

I think the days of free online is over for PSN. What Sony wants to do with gaikai is going to take an utter shitload of money. So they will need to either have a smart advertising system or paid online or both.

I disagree simply because you are mixing both online play and all the social/gaikai stuff.
I think all the social aspects and gaikai will be kept behind a paywall/sub (probably including cross gaming voice chat even) while the basic online play free.

I guess I can always hope that it turns out that way.

Edit: I think we will see game advertisements like what we see in the current PSN store though. They did talk about it in the meeting and how it will be based on your gaming preference.

I play a lot of local coop with my wife and being able to split that into dual monitors would be absolutely amazing.

Basically anything that does not focus on social networking nonsense.
Needless to say, I'm not a fan of the "share" button on the controller at all.

My gaming time and my socializing time should not interfere with each other. I personally don't think that kind of lifestyle is healthy.
Besides, it's not like posting my "1,000 hours of gameplay" achievement on Facebook is ever going to outshine the endless feed of dumb instagram filtered food pics.

They should have learned from Microsoft's failed attempt at popularizing their Facebook app on Xbox Live, and just completely avoided outside sources of social networking interfering with PSN.


Cross-Platforming would be a huge buying incentive for me due to increased population in less popular multiplayer titles..

Oh, and the Occulus "Rift" peripheral support.

I'm hoping Sony and Valve will continue the partnership that started with Portal 2 on Ps3, by allowing cross-platform saved games and game authentication. However I would like to see this expanded to allow for ANY game that sees release on both platforms. I believe it would be a huge selling point for gamers and an enticing feature for publishers to stamp on their products.
