Whatcha Been Playin': Giving Thanks Edition

HALO: REACH

1471664-noble_team_super.jpeg

I like mixing up the new Anniversary MP content with the traditional Reach playlists and maps. Marathoning through Halo multiplayer with buddies has become a Thanksgiving tradition for me, so I'm not taking exception this year.

Modern Warfare 3

Skyrim

Gonna start Saint's Row 3 soon.. probably try to finish the SPs of MW3, Gears 3, and Halo Anniversary over xmas break.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I've been playing this game for ~30hours and i am at the beginning of the 6th dungeon. I really take my time with this game just like i always do with Zelda-games. Zelda games were always special to me and this one offers me the best 3D-Zelda experience i have ever had. Moreover, it is also absolutely stunning on Dolphin.

Super Mario 3D Land
Only reached the 3rd World. Everything up to that point was extremely fun. This is def. the best 3DS game next to Oot3D. The 3D works wonderfully and really adds to the experience. This game is like a mixed version of the new and old Mario-titles. I enjoy every minute with this game.

There is something about the warmth of Nintendo games that just FITS with staying inside when it's cold outside.

TOR beta: Really fun as a co-op game. Like the spectating and tandem conversations, outdoor heroic quests were a sight for sore eyes.

Corpse Party: Neat little mix of a survival horror game (sans combat) and a visual novel. Oddly, scariest game I have played up there with Fatal Frame.

Skyward Sword: Not very impressed. Compounds on most of my issues with TP rather than alleviating them. Maybe 15 hours of misc play and I just don't want to play anymore. Hell, I didn't want to play the moment I tried to control a loft wing, holy shit.

Infamous 2: wrapping this up, still repetitive as hell and you feel a bit off when youre done but you always want more later. It's like pancakes, really.

Misc iOS games: Acension, Sworcery and tower Defense: Lost Earth, good stuff. Bought a lot of solid randoms during the sales. I want more adventure games on here but not many catch the eye, considering mechanarium, I have it on pc but I really like this stuff on the iPad

Pleasantly surprised by the campaign in this game. Its awesome so far. Takes the bitter taste of BF3 out of my mouth. I feel like I wasted money on BF3 and should have waited for MW3. You live and learn.

And here I was eyeing BF3 for 28 bucks yesterday. Now I'm really glad I didn't pull the trigger.

Uncharted 3

Been playing this the past few nights, finished it up earlier tonight. Loved every minute of it, this is easily my favourite of the three.

Dark Souls

Took a break from this a few weeks ago to wait for the patch. Returned to it tonight, such an awesome game.

Also a bit of Skyrim and Dead Island.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Taking my time with this one, knowing it's the last game with my beloved Altair and Ezio. Third year in a row I've spent the Thanksgiving break playing an AC game, and I love the tradition. Sometimes hard to fit time in to play with all the family and friend events so I'm not that far in the story, but again, no rush.

Skyward Sword

Will probably start this up tonight, as it should be a good game to play with the younger folk around. There's nothing like the wonder of Zelda, so I'm hoping my niece digs it.

Sam And Max

This game man, this fucking game. I wish I would have bought the Complete Pack earlier, that's all I can say.

The fiancee and I have been co-oping Kirby's Return to Dreamland (she's Kirby and I've been mostly playing as Meta Knight). So good. So many moments that make us just crack up.

Mostly this:

I'm thinking of trying this:

or this:

...for the weekend, but I'm leaning towards Dead Space 2 to be honest. I did beat Uncharted 2 just a month ago so maybe I'll go with Dead Space 2.

Christmas has always been the greatest time of the year for Nintendo games(Summer comes close). It fits with childhood memories of vacation time and stupidly long videogame runs knowing that you won't have school for a little while.

Skyrim. I'm level 42 and about 45 hours in so far. Haven't played too much of the main quest so far. I've completed the fighter and mage guilds. Currently working my way through the theif guild. Very much enjoying it but I was feeling a little burnt out last weekend.

Very much looking forward to Skyward Sword on Christmas. Should give me plenty of time to finish up everything I want to do in Skyrim before then.

I finished Bayonetta yesterday, the ending was really good.

Batman: Arkham City Finished the main story, now doing side quests and riddles/trophys.
Battlefield 3 Playing conquest and rush, slowly improving my K/D ratio.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DI'm finishing this before moving onto Skyward Sword, i've just finished Fire Temple now moving onto the famous Water Temple. I'm falling in love with this game again.
Phoenix Wright: Justice For All Currently on Case 2, good so far.
Halo Reach Finishing the campaign, multiplayer occasionally

End of World 6. Really really enjoy it. Still doesn't have the same charm as old Mario games, and there are a few little things that annoy me (ie. you can't get a leaf/flower and then just quit out of the stage and keep it) but totally worth it. Best game on the 3DS for sure.

Playing Spec Ops split screen. For some reason my girlfriend, despite not knowing how to use a right analog stick to control camera/aim, really likes it. So much so she bought...

256px-Modern_Warfare_2_cover.PNG

So she traded in a bunch of games at EB and sold our Samsung Blu-Ray player to buy another PS3. Then bought two PS3 copies of MW2 since they were $15. She hates split screen so now we can play Spec Ops together over PSN or LAN. Total cost out of her pocket was $70 for the PS3 and games so it's not too bad, and we have a better BR/Netflix/DVD player to boot. It's a little strange but whatever! I set her up a PSN account so she can get PSN Plus (she wants all the little free games).

So much Rayman
A little Skyrim goes a long way
Jurassic Park the Game. I like the movie, so I figured why not. Acting is kind of... bad, but it's not bad.

Deus Ex Human Revolution - Finished up this game yesterday... okay, it was technically 4:00am today, but I prefer to think of it as yesterday. :p Around halfway through I had put it down to go play a couple other games, but I'm really glad I picked it back up. I absolutely love this game. Picked up the Missing Link DLC because I wanted a bit more and I couldn't resist the 50% off. :)

MW3 - I've loved COD multiplayer since COD4, but I've had some real growing pains adapting to this one. I'm slowly getting better, but I still don't understand the spawning system that well and my aim is way off. Also, I'm roughly halfway through the single player and it's been surprisingly good. Even if I hated the Multiplayer, which I don't, the single player and spec ops make me glad I decided to pick this up.

Super Mario 3D Land - just beat the first playthrough with Mario the other day.

Pokémon Rumble Blast - finally playing it after having only touched it for a few minutes. It's kind of interesting but very simple. Just made it to Chapter 2.

Zelda & El Shaddai both arrived but I think I'll save them for Christmas.

Haven't had much time to play this weekend. Last week I said I would pick up either Saints Row 3 or Radiant Historia.

I ended up playing neither, opting to dabble in Frozen Synapse and Kirby's Epic Yarn instead. Frozen Synapse is good for logging onto for a few minutes to play the next turn, then logging out. For Kirby, I'm finding a decent amount of content there since I'm a completionist. I can't allow myself to move forward until I get all treasures and a gold medal on each level. I suppose this tendency helps explain why my backlog continues to grow. Enjoying both games.

I also purchased Batman, Zelda, and Dark Souls from Black Friday shopping, but I probably won't play those until around Christmas.

I seriously can't even think about any other game than Skyrim. 76 hours in, and still going strong. I popped in Skyward Sword for a couple hours, and honestly couldn't stand it. First Zelda game I haven't liked at all.

That's fine, though. MORE TIME FOR SKYRIM!

Batman: AA GOTY
Saints Row 3(done)

Ghost_Trick_characters.png

I finished Skyward Sword a couple of days ago and I think I'm nearing the end of Ghost Trick, which will leave me with just Skyrim to play, which is completely fine as I've done so little in it even though I've played it for about 20 hours.

Skyward Sword - Console GotY
Ghost Trick - Handheld GotY
Skyrim - PC GotY

halfway through 1st prestige in MW3
Just started thieves guild quest line in Skyrim (only level 16)
And Black Friday got me Arkham City (11% through campaign) & Marvel vs. Capcom (still in wrapping)

Love this time of year :-D

Just beaten Assassins Creed: Revelations and now gonna enjoy Battlefield 3! I actually have it for the 360 and the PC but haven't touch the PC version since Day 1 cause it ran like shit. (Expected of course and since I'm running on a laptop.) So I'm hoping that the patches that came out from then and now, plus a little bit of configuring would make the PC version playable for me to play with Gaf and my 2 friends that has this game for it.

Kirby Mass Attack: Just started this, plays very well. Curious to see how and if the game gets more difficult/complex later, but I'm enjoying it regardless.
Rhythm Heaven: LOVE this game. Despite there being just a few commands, the game never feels stale, even if I'm playing the same challenges over again. Love the "Go for perfect" system too, keeps you from getting frustrated going through the game slowly trying to perfect each level as you go, but adds some tension when it shows up and encourages you to visit completed levels. I've been getting the tunes stuck in my head these last few days.

Skyward Sword: Basically leave my Wii on to go and play this a bit every once in awhile. Enjoying it but surprisingly I've been more addicted to my 3DS(DS) lately.

I got Elite Beat Agents in the mail and played a bit. Got a bit frustrated one night playing my replay for 30min before I realized I was doing it (y'know, the big flashing text on the screen?). Fun though, chances are I'll get more into/finish up Rhythm Heaven before really digging into it though.

I also have Kirby: Canvas Curse on the way :)

Skyrim and BF3. Can't wait for the patch on BF3, hate people who use the flashlight. Magic bullet eraser flash light, that's what that is.
