Whatcha' Been Playing?: Week-end before Halo 3 Edition

Call of Duty 4 Beta

I need to give this a good send off since it ends on the 25th for me.

Heavenly Sword

Beat it in a very short amount of time, although it was a very awesome ride. I'm still enjoying replaying certain missions again. I love the way the segments are separated, easy to replay/rewatch favorite scenes.

Gears of War

I haven't played this in ages! But COD4 has sculpted me into some sort of twitch player. I'm better at this game now than when I played it full time :lol.

Bioshock

I swear, I NEED TO BEAT THIS. I've only got maybe 4 days left. I HAVE to beat this game this weekend.

Pokemon Diamond

I got a new DS Lite, and this was the first game I played. It's a lot slower than I remember, maybe I'm just older...but it hasn't gotten any less fun. :D

Still haven't finished Bioshock.

Some Brain Age 2 on the side.

Yep, nothing much. Kind of want to get back into WoW but it was such a time waster I'm afraid to.

Nearing the end, I think. I love this game so much

Shadowrun - just picked this up for cheap this weekend and I've been having a lot of fun with it.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance - my friend and i have been playing this over xbox live a lot.

Ninja Gaiden: Black - the recent NG2 trailer just got me excited, so i've been playing this again for fun.

Warhawk and World in Conflict

Same here actually... WiC is pretty good, I like it... Warhawk, well, that's the best online game out there at the moment, as it's just incredible fun... I was hoping my CoD4 beta key would've hit my email by now :(

NHL 08
NHL 2k8

Playing both of them exclusively with all my time.

Metroid Prime 3 and Bioshock are going to be lucky to get even a sniff of time now that 2 of my favorite games are out now. Even Halo 3 is going to go in the backlog for a while.

Suikoden II - I'm just now playing through this for the first time and I'm really, really enjoying it. It's shaping up to be one of my favorite RPGs.

Metroid Prime 3 - Almost done. This game has been nothing short of amazing and it'd easily my favorite Wii game thus far. I'd even say it's my game of the year at this point.

Team Fortress 2 - I never played TFC, but I'm loving TF2. I need to put some more time into it.

I'm playing the GRE. It's a terrible game.

Actually I'll be playing some XBL demos, Halo 2 single player, and maybe some Warhawk.

I played the Sega Rally demo and it stole my innocence. Expectations were shattered, memories were violated. I don't know if I will be able to live a normal life again.

Other than that, I'll be playing:

Warhawk
a second play through Heavenly Sword
Some demos and "smaller" games like Loco Roco PS3...

Heavenly Sword- Just got this on Wed. Put in a small amount of time; it seems fun, but I don't feel like I have complete control over Nariko. I love the aftertouch stuff; it's a blast shooting and hurling objects or bodies around! I think I'm going to end up playing through this game once and never touching it again...just seems to be lacking in replay value. It's overly-cinematic and ultra, ultra linear...even for an action game. If I was able to rent games, I'd definitely be renting this instead. But perhaps my opinion will change with more play time.

Phoenix Wright Justice For All- Slowly going through the last case. I just want to get to PW3 already. :/

PSP-2000- Got this yesterday and spent a lot of time messing around with the system's TV output. The screen really does seem to be improved as well; I put in Tomb Raider Anniversary, and the game looked a lot sharper than it does on my old PSP. Colors seem a bit brighter too.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus- Got this along with the PSP; it seems to just be an expansion pack of sorts, as the first mission was on the same hospital stage as the original game. It only cost around 2400 yen, which is pretty cheap for a new PSP game in Japan, plus I got 300 yen off both this and the PSP for reserving. I'll probably sell this off whenever the American version is released; there's still codec transmissions and I don't know what the hell they're saying. You don't start off as Snake, either, but three grunts.

Musou Orochi- For the second time, now on 360. It's the same as PS2, but looks a lot nicer.

Puyo Puyo- The Mega Drive version via the Virtual Console. Played this with my wife's friend, who OWNED me up and down. It was a sick beat-down. This woman crushed me within seconds in most matches.

Wii Sports- Also played with the wife and her friends. Fun for a bit; I think the last time I played this was late last year.

Etrian Odyssey - When I first picked this up I predicted in the official thread that I wouldn't be able to play anything else until I finished it. This only turned out to be true for the first couple of floors. I'm still loving the game, but when it comes to really tough games (and I have found this game to be REALLY tough), I can only stand to play them in concentrated spurts once or twice a week. There are a few design decisions I find baffling, too...I can't believe I wasted 10 points maxing out Provoke, for instance, and it still works less than 50% of the time...wtf?! Overall though the game is still great fun, and except for some skills that sound cool and turn out to be crappy, the game rarely feels 'unfair.' Just hard.

Final Fantasy IV Advance - I bought each of the FF Advance games shortly after they came out, played them for a bit and then set them in my backlog. Earlier this week I wiped all my save files and started over at the beginning; I'm determined to get through them all. Currently sitting at the point in FFIV where I have to decide if I want to gather all of the optional stuff or just blast through to the conclusion....hmmmm.....

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody - Ever since I first heard of this series back in the early days of the PS2, I always really wanted to like it, but every iteration I've tried has had some fatal flaw that has really gotten in the way. Friends of Mineral Town is a good game, I still have it floating around somewhere, but I could never tolerate a long game on the GBA because I was never a fan of the original design and I never bothered to pick up a GBA SP. I'm sure I'll revisit it on the DS sometime soon. For now, though, Magical Melody finally seems to be hitting the sweet spot. Really a fun and unique game. I'm looking forward to trying Rune Factory, too.

Puzzle Quest - Not much to say, this is an awesome game, I can't believe how much depth they crammed into this little game. The more I play it the more I enjoy it.

Super Mario 64 DS - I'm trying really hard to get into this but all it's done so far is demonstrate to me why I don't like playing 3D games on portables.

Harvest Moon SNES is probably one of my top 5 games of all time but I agree that a lot of the HM games since always seem to disappoint in some way :(

Anyway I'm playing Team Fortress 2 like an addict.

360:
Two Worlds: just exploring the world
MoH: Airborne: Completed on normal just playing it on casual now.

PS3:
Heavenly Sword: Lovely cinematic game.
Rogue Galaxy and Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria: Both recently out in PAL land.

Various rpgs on ds/psp when I'm on sleep ins at work.

Oblivion(xbox360) I felt like finishing up the achievments. I have the Dark Brotherhood questline to finish(saved the best for last) I forgot how goddam amazing this game was. I was thinking of grabbing the expansion after the DB quests but with Halo 3 coming I dont know.

Metroid Prime 3 Im only about 40% through it, but I kinda fell "meh" about the game. I gonna force myself to finish it sooner or later. Just not feeling it currently.

World of warcraft- Started a Horde mage and Warlock. Been playing the game with my wife since she likes it these days.

It's the 1980s-RPG-style save points that forced me to put it down for a while. Those were fine back when I was a kid with summers off from school and time to kill, but I can't fit a game like that into my life anymore unless the designers throw me a bone in the form of some kind of warp-point spell. I would just put the DS to sleep if I wanted to take a break, but it still sometimes took me twenty minutes of gameplay to get to the point where I could make progress, only to get killed by a boss.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through Persona 3. And when I beat the game...I'm going to play more Persona 3. God, I love it.

Been playing a bunch of games that I need to finish before the advent of Halo 3 and the tons of games coming out in Q4:

Heavenly Sword: Heavenly game indeed, as Ninja Theory has crafted a gorgeous action opus. Combat can get repetitive, and the framerate and V-synch can get twitchy at times, but overall a damn eye-opening title.

Bioshock: I'm about half way through, and this game is just absolute wow all around.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: Samus is back in smooth form, and the Wii controls are easy and natural.

Stranglehold: Tequila-time all around with guns blazing and you have an awesome game in the vein of Max Payne.

Been playing Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection... not online though as it's not that fun playing with lag anymore :(

A shit load of Team Fortress 2 and Peggle. Followed by a healthy dose of Call of Duty 4 Beta. Thats about it just waiting for Halo 3 and skate.
