What's a good Gaming headphone?

I would like to buy a new headphone to use at PC and 360, especially for gaming. I would like one with good bass.

Anything less than $65.

I think I have to buy too an extension cable, and an adapter because my receiver only have that big output and the PC is the tiny one.

On a related note, what's a good XBL compatible headset for the 360? The included one in the premium bundle is an uncomfortable piece of shit.

$65 for good headphones? Tall order... MAYBE you could get away with some Grado SR60's for that price. They sure fit your condition of having good bass. It has foam pads though, so if you wear them for several hours, it can get a little uncomfortable. But I dont think you will get a better sounding headphone in that price range.

Pony up the extra dough and get something like the Sennheiser HD 590's... thats the set I have. Yeah, they are expensive. Maybe even overpriced. (No, Sennheiser is definitly overpriced.) But they sound FANTASTIC, and the ear cushions are Velour, man I can wear these things for WEEKS straight and they feel GREAT. So comfortable. Pays for itself in the long run. Don't believe the MSRP on their web page, its a filthy lie... you can get them for much cheaper at any respecatble audio shop. Not $65 cheap, but cheaper than the MSRP by a good margin ;)

I use sennheiser HD280 Pros which can be found for that price. Not everyone likes them, but I love them. I needed a closed set because I had a roomate when I bought them

Seriously, that thing is a piece of shit. It has no redeeming qualities

Hmm yeah ok thats a good point, if you dont feel like looking up the product info on the 590's... they are GREAT, but they are open-air; so if you are using them to keep your family, roomate, or significant other from being disturbed by your gaming racket, you won't be doing them any favours with this set. Or the SR60's for that matter. Thats only if they are in the same room of course... its still LOADS quieter than conventional speakers, if there are people in other rooms they wouldn't even have a clue you were doing anything with sound.

are any of the other plantronics sets any good? $49.99 is a bit much for an xbox headset

Yeah its expensive no doubt, but if you do a lot of gaming and care about comfort, you wont get a better set. Now to be clear.... its ALL about comfort. It will absolutly NOT sound better than the stock Live headset, in regards to audio quality. Well ok, yes it does, but not by such a huge margin as to justify going out and getting one just for that. Its really a set designed for people like telemarketers, office assistants, etc, to wear for work all day long, and see very heavy use. All they did was colour it green and write "Halo 2" on it. Thats part of the price to, although the other part is that it says "plantronics" on it :)

I don't know about the other ones, but I'm sure you could scare up a review or two on them.

plantronics needs to make a 360 compatible unit. I don't really want to strip the wires of my current 360 headset to get the volume/mute to work...

the mute doesn't work on 360?

You can change the volume through the guide (and mute too -- but that isnt really practical)

You know what? I haven't tested the mute. I forgot that was past the connection point. It should work. So really its probably a volume issue then.

For folks with MORE than 65 bucks, I would heartily recommend the Pioneer wireless Surround headphones. They are fucking sweet. Amazingly bassy for headphones too. $200+ but worth every penny and a perfectly good replacement for a 5.1 system in a small room or baby/family scenario.

And wear a diaper if you play RE4 or Condemned with them.

I use the Sennheiser PX 200 for my PSP. They are portable, fold and come with a carrying case and are great to listen to movies as well.
