hey so if anyone else doesnt want to use 20 minutes or so of their life, here's the story so far:

1) Himuro (aka OP4LYFE) basically said he was debating selling his xbox cause no games speak to him that he cant play on ps3 or PC but he said it in a manner not unlike going into shark-infested waters while on the rag.

2) the motherfucking sharks showed up, only a few of them played Phoenix Wright: Sophist For Hire and started an elaborate game of grab-ass with his quotes until it read like he was an attractive black girl from full house who doesnt have the internet and thinks Alan Wake is a sequel to his low score in Crackdown (which to be honest, from what ive seen of the game so far, cannot yet be ruled out).

3) other people started talking about the merits of paying for XBL gold which is crazy fucking awesome cause once in a while you get a buy one, get one free deal on DLC water temples.

4) forget about all that shit, by page something or other console warriors were quoting each other from, i dont even know, possibly livejournals or some shit and even that got derailed by this one guy who was on about FF XIII on 360 being text-only and it doesnt even fucking have Mode 7.

jerks like Segata kept trying to direct clown traffic in the 4th quarter with logic and shit but thankfully i think we hit the point of no return about halfway through page 3.
Come on guys, let's see what happens next!

This exact same thread seems to happen every year.

Perhaps MS should switch to the Sonys strategy of showing games years before they are due to be released, because this cycle is all too familiar. MS hold things back, get used to it.

I'll never understand how MS gets a free pass on this, while Sony doesn't. Alan Wake was announced alongside Killzone 2 at E305, and it still isn't out.

Every year both MS and Sony have released games announced years in advance (Killzone 2 and Heavenly Sword, both announced in 05 - Banjo & Kazooie: N&B and Fable 2, both announced in 06) and games announced the very year they were released (Resistance 2, MotorStorm: PR, Gears of War 2). Their announcement strategy is little different, and this year will probably be the same.

Just look at this past E3. Both publishers featured new titles with a relatively close release date (ModNation Racers and Crackdown 2, both set for the first half of 2010) and games set a year or more away (The Last Guardian, Halo: Reach, presumably set for Fall). They're really no different.

I don't understand the focus on retail games. Obviously playing multiplatform games on PC is a no-brainer, but you have also a ton of great XBLA games. I spend 80% of my time on 360 playing downloadable titles.

Why are people assuming this will carry over to a NA port for the 360? The d-pad is in the primary position on a PS3 controller. The analog is in the primary position on the 360. It would make absolutely zero sense to make the part of the game you are going to spend the most time in impossible to control from the natural position one holds a 360 controller at.
