What's the first game you remember being hyped for? (PRE-RELEASE)

When i was a little kid reading nintendo power, majoras mask and the oracles were definitely the first i was legitimately anticipating.

though i had to wait years for the oracles (when they were first revealed, they were actually three seperate games names the seed of power, wisdom and courage. Ultimaely courage was cancelled and seed of power became oracle of seasons and seed of wisdom became oracle of ages)

Also pokemon gold.

Super Mario Bros 3. Was super excited for that as a kid and it was one of the first games we got at launch rather than at Xmas or birthday.

Has to be either Snake Eater after watching a trailer on a gaming magazine dvd, was a big fan of mgs on ps1 already after playing it at my friends house, or San Andreas. I was addicted to Vice City back in the day, so my hype for the next gta was huge.

I just don't know for which game I saw trailers or read articles in gaming mags first. Back then I didn't have internet so magazines were my main source of finding out about new releases.

Edit: Oh shit wait a minute. Jak 2 came out even earlier. I may have been hyped for that first. xD

Mario 2 due to the first issue of Nintendo Power.

When Windwaker came out, were you impressed or temporarily disappointed by the overall style change in the artwork/design? I remember I was extremely hesitant because I first got used to 8-bit Link on NES, grew into the Link to the Past Link, and enjoyed the change of the first 3-D Links in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. The cartoony -style of WindWaker was off-putting when I saw the trailers. I changed that opinion when I played it.

I thought it was magnificent in its grandeur and attitude.

I never liked the previous art directions but this... was incredible.

Metal Gear Solid.

I remember I was so hyped by the trailer that I imported a Japanese gaming magazine solely to get my hands on an included demo on a disk (which only comprised the opening portion to the elevator, which was like five minutes). I had to chip my PSX also to be able to play it, which, at the time and considering my age and income, was expensive.

And man, I played it to DEATH. Over and over and over. It was worth it. No regrets.

Probably Spyro 3. The 2nd is one of my all-time favourites so when I learned there was another one coming I was so stoked. The day I got my hands on it I sprinted around the neighbourhood rounding other kids up to come play it.

Metal Gear Solid 2,3,4. I watched those trailers countless time.

Of course Dark Souls sequels (including Bloodborne).

Half-Life 2 (and 3 of course).

The Last Guardian, Trico got me at the first look.

Dragon Ball FighterZ couldn't believe this game was true till it was release. It sounded like a teenage dream.

In term of new IP : Horizon Zero Dawn. The first reveal I was like "Hunting robot dinosaurs with a bow in a post-post-apocalyptic world ? YEEEEEEEESSSSS !!!!!!!!!!"

None of them disappointed me except Dark Souls 2 (after 1/2 playthroughs).

EDIT : Learn to read a title : The first should be MGS 2 xD

It has to be Donkey Kong 64. I grew up playing Donkey Kong Country, so the idea of a 3D DK game really excited me. Turns out it wasn't exactly the best game ever made, but at the time I really enjoyed it.
