I have to admit, I'm all on board for Persona 5, but more skeptical about FFXV, and that feeling solidifies as more time passes. I'll play them both, but P5 is more out of genuine "Good God, can't wait, this is going to be so good," and FFXV is more, "Well, I played all the other ones, so the completionist in me would feel the lack."
Part of it might be that I'm more of a traditionalist. Atlus really knows what its fanbase wants, and they're small enough that they're terrified of losing them, so they give them exactly what they want. The FF series feels like Squenix really wanted the franchise to go mainstream last console generation, and they're still clinging to that ambition for this console generation too. I'd love for them to just go back to turn-based, sometimes super-serious, sometimes dopey charm of the Sakaguchi era, but even though that's what older fans may want, that's not the kind of game Squenix wants to make anymore.
