In terms as them being know as the "Quirky and Hardcore American Publisher" well the types of games they usually published for the PS2 are now made on handhelds. Development costs as well as the Japanese gaming market have drove Atlus USA to portable.
In terms of them being known as the "Talented Japanese Developer" well that's simple. The Japanese gaming market is in ruins now and the only bet that is even somewhat safe is with the DS. And yeah that's what they've been working with.

I'd really just like a new Atlus console game. If its on the Wii so be it. If its on the HD consoles good for me. If they make more games on the DS then I'm just out of luck.

It's inevitable that they're working on Persona 5 right now. Persona 3 and 4 made them a lot of cash.

No, I bought a DS Lite the day they came out and then traded it for PSP which I then just gave to a friend. I never find myself in the mood to play portable games. I think I've only completed like 5 portable games in my entire life. Two of those being Pokemon games. When I'm on the go I rather be on my iphone or ipod and really when I'm on the go I'm to busy to sit and actually enjoy the game anyway. When I'm at home I rather just play on my consoles.
So yeah if a new game comes for the DS it will suck for me because even if I bought it I would never actually play it. Just not a portable gamer.
And a DDS type game would be cool. There doesn't need to be a story sequel but the idea of a more FF/party of characters SMT game would be nice.

Wouldn't surprise me either, I mean look at the approach NIS had with Disgaea 3 and Cross Edge. These tittles look like high ress Playstation 2 games. And as for both Persona and Disgaea, looks aren't what most peple associate with the games. It's all about the gameplay mechanics, stories, characters and the writing. If they make a new, groundbreaking graphics engine, we would be thrill. If not...well, we stould still be thrilled and excited over the fact that it's the next iteration of the series.tokkun said:

You know it makes sense to only want to play Atlus games on HD consoles. Being that their games are always so cutting edge and all. The Megaten franchise is an ideal example of this.
