Just because we can make calls anywhere doesn't necessarily mean we SHOULD.

and there is little reason why we SHOULDN'T either.

Because nobody within earshot cares what you did last night.

so then i guess no one should ever have a face to face conversation in public where other people might hear it, by your logic, because they dont care

People tend to talk much louder into cell phones than they do to peoples' faces.

I get the feeling you're the guy who has no problem answering his cell in the middle of a movie.

No, I hate that. and that is FAR different than having a conversation onyour cell phone in a mall or in the city. that doesn't annoy most non-uptight people.

it's 2006. we now have 24/7 information and contact with anyone we need or WANT (just for the hell of it!) at our fingertips. and it's great. deal with it :P

I agree, let's make it illegal to have a passenger in your car too. :\

The idea is that when you're talking on the 'phone to somebody, you visualise them or the concept of the conversation. When you're talking to somebody in real life, you don't.

Ive lost 3 headsets and have just given up with the whole business now. I just dont answer the phone when im driving.

I answer the phone, and I drive a stick. Am I doomed? :( Turning, changing gears and holding the phone without breaking a conversation takes skillzzzzz!!!!!

I used to do that, its against the law now though, dont really want to speak to anyone enough to lose my license over it.

Yeah it's been against the law for a while here. I just keep my eyes open in the search of police cars or on foot patrolmen :lol

The earpieces are just as silly as holding a phone up to your ear in the same situations. Except now, you truly look like a freakin' idiot with the earpiece on all the time. There's no denying the ease of using it, especially in cars. But in the public, in stores, clubs, casinos, wherever; it's just as stupid. Especially with stupid people wielding them.

"So, what's up?"
"Nothing much."
"Huh? What's that?"
"I said, nothing much."
*Idiot looks up at you*
"Oh, sorry, I'm on the phone."

****. You.

I hate people who wear them all the time, it pisses me off. IF YOU'RE NOT ON THE PHONE, YOU DON'T NEED IT ATTACHED TO YOUR EAR.

There really should be some kind of obvious way for cyborgs to indicate to people that they are talking to someone else. At least when they are using a a cell phone the regular way, it's easily noticed due to arm positioning or whatever. Come to think of it, how often do people really need both of their hands free in order to talk to someone? Maybe it's just me, but I predict that the novelty will die off quickly for the majority of people.

If you're constantly on the phone, it could be a godsend. But then the question would be "why do you need to be on the phone constantly?"

BT earpieces are *recommended* if you're worried about the brain cancer. As I said on the page one, the amount of EM radiation coming out of BT headset is vastly (I believe around 1000 times) smaller than that of coming out of the phone itself.

Same here. Try all of that while eating fast food. I really don't know how I haven't already died.

MAN WILL BE REBORN AS CYBERMAN.

YOU WILL BECOME LIKE US.

Seriously though - I own a bluetooth headset, but I haven't used it in like a year because it became annoying having to charge it and the cellphone. That and it wasn't that comfortable... I guess if both issues are resolved in newer models I'd start using one again.

Here is a thought - man originally never wore fabrics rapped around most of his body, pieces of glass held in front of his eyes, or mechanical timekeeping devices strapped to his wrist either. Bluetooth headsets are just another step in the evolution of mans apparel, and hardly the last.

I don't really mind them but it's really annoying when I'm working and a customer is trying to place an order. They are talking to whoever is on the other end of the phone but are looking straight at you. Then they hold up their index finger motioning, "hold on." Can you not call the person back? It only takes a max. one minute to place the order. At least have the courtesy to let others behind you order so that you aren't creating a hold up.

Who the **** drives with two hands anyway after their driving test? Its super uncomfortable driving with two hands IMO.... Bluetooth earpiece is a waste of money imo, half of the time it makes a person look like they're talking to themselves...But the people who just put it in to be "fashionable" and aren't even talking to anyone really get me.. Yeah you're cool walking around with a piece of plastic with a flashing blue light on your ear, for no reason.

Umm I drive with two hands all the time, I find it perfectly comfortable. And I don't know about where you live, but we have cell phone laws where I am. No driving while holding one, at any time, for any reason. Which is why Bluetooth sets come in handy.

I agree with you though, people who where them out in public just look like tools.

I bought one for my Blackberry just because the thing is so damn hard to hear a conversation on when there's any sort of ambient noise going on, especially while driving. Specifically, I got Logitech's one, and while it's not horrible, I just can't get used to the notion of this plastic thing clipped tightly onto my ear. My headset sits mostly unused in my backpack, unless I know I'm about to have a long call. I want a phone that can just sync up with my neural pathways and route the sound directly into my brain...and also not give me cancer.

Unless using them for driving, I automatically classify anyone walking around a public space speaking with one of those as a moron.

I just classify everyone as a moron regardless. Easier that way.

People that carry on a conversation on a cell is bad enough in my eyes. These things are for the losers in the loser kingdom.

We don't have Cell phone laws here, yet. While it doesn't hurt or hinder my driving in the least bit, most people for some reason, start going half the friggin speed limit once they're on a cell phone. Its like they lack the mental capacity to do two 'daunting' tasks such as driving, and talking on a phone at once!

The only way I will ever concisder getting a bluetooth set is when I get the new Razr V3X or another phone with tons of multi-media capabilities. It would be used mostly to listen to music or watch TV while i'm working out or what not.

Are there any benefits to them besides having no wire? Headsets have been out for years, so I still don't get the hype.
