What's your favorite MASS EFFECT memory?

ME1:
- Virmire, specifically choosing Kaidan to die over Ashley. My biggest mistake in the series.
- The ending sequence, specifically convincing Saren to stop himself. Permanently. Still the best antagonist of the series.

ME2:
- The opening sequence. Watching Shepard die and go down with the classic Normandy is a pretty intense way of starting the game.
- Activating Legion. Actually talking to a Geth was something, and it made for my favorite character throughout the entire trilogy and one of my favorite video game characters of all time.
- Operation Overlord ending. Downright messed up, but it feels so good to make things right.
- The entirety of Lair of the Shadow Broker. Not only get to reunite with the greatest love interest that is Liara, and if you disagree you are wrong, but its full of some of the best action throughout the series with a great finale encounter with the Shadow Broker

ME3:
- The opening sequence. Throughout the entire trilogy, we had waited for the moment the Reapers finally pull off a full-scale invasion on the galaxy. Watching it finally happen was pretty scary and another good opening.
- Tuchanka story-arc. Downright epic. From seeing Wrex again, hearing the female Krogan's speech, fucking thresher maw fighting reapers.
- Mordin's death. I fucking cried.
- Thane's death. Lord, did I cry.
- Killing Udina. About fucking time.
- Rannoch's ending and Legion's death. I can't take this.
- Charging towards the Conduit. Watching Shepard and Alliance troopers all run for the Conduit as a Reaper was zapping them all truly emphasized how desperate the galaxy had become in trying to stop the Reapers. This was the real suicide mission.
- The entirety of the Citadel DLC. Stupid, cheesy, but it was great to lay back and spend time with all of your favorite characters. It was a great final goodbye to them all.

Despite the ending, ME3 had the best moments of the series that hit every emotion in me.

The super shotgun in 2 with vanguard. You were legit a 1-2 shot kill god and the flow of combat was incredible being able to just teleport endlessly healing along the way.

Taking down minibosses in just 1 combo was hilarious in a kharma to the bad guys sort of way. Felt awesome.

It has to be completing the suicide mission flawlessly on my first run. I felt really confident in all my decisions. I felt like I knew my squad very well. Having that time spent with my team pay off, was a great feeling.

I have so many hundreds of moments in the ME Trilogy that I have a hard time picking, it's my favorite game series for a reason.

But if I was going to have to pick ....

The reveal of the SR2 Normandy in ME2....the music, the lighting, the scene design....everything was so amazing that I shed a tear at the power of the moment. One of the best scenes in gaming.

The first interaction with Sovereign

This right here.

Also, this isn't a specific memory, but just going through the Galaxy maps in all 3 games and reading about each of the different systems and planets. I literally spent hours doing that, reading every description of every planet in all 3 games. Not kidding.

I hope they bring something like that back for Andromeda.

I am the very model of a scientist salarian, I've studied species turian, asari, and batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because i am an expert (which i know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

Favorite game of all time (1, faults and all), favorite trilogy of all time, favorite lore of all time. But to echo the obvious -

Just the mere thought of one's Virmire and ending sequence still gives me goosebumps.

Then it was done. Then this music hit -

I've never been filled with a more simultaneous euphoric and sad feeling from finishing a game. It's the high I continue to chase.

Ashley killing wrex and then me getting to avenge his death by letting her die.

Prothean ruins discovery

Unleashing genophage cure thingy ( not exactly favorite but memorable)

Totally. It was like seeing an old friend back.

When you meet Sovereign. One of my very favorite moments from a game and the best part of any of the games easily.

This might not be 100% accurate, it's been a while since I played it, but this is how I remember it.

In Mass Effect 2 when you talk to Legion aboard your ship he tells you about the Geth, and how they basically oporate with a hive mind.

You then have the option to ask why he has fused a part of your N7 armor to himself... he then pauses before admitting he doesn't have an answer for that.

This is so well written, and shows the first signs that Legion is rebelling against the hive, even if he hasn't realised it himself.

Edit: Just watched it again, it's not quite as I remember it, but the pause is still there.

No specific memory for me, just the general coolness of being on my ship with my crew, flying through space and talking to each character as the story progressed. I know they all had that, but I mostly liked that in ME2.

Before every mission, when I choose which of the squad mates to bring with me. It's always a hard choice for me.

Should I choose my favorite ones or the ones who are best suited for the mission?

Its either...

1. The conversation with Sovereign in ME1.
2. Listening to Mordin justify the genophage in ME2.
3. Seeing Liara naked in ME1.

All good memories.

One word: Noveria.

Everything about Noveria was freaking awesome. Great music, great mission, my favorite place to visit in the entire series.

Doing the Suicode Mission on Insanity for the first time and keeping everyone alive or the final Shep/Garrus convo on me3...

"There's no Shepard without a Vakarian"

Personal favorite moments:

1) ME1, meeting/talking to Sovereign in Virmire base. Felt like shit finally got serious. They did amazingly well making the Reapers seem credible, yet maintain their Lovecraftian mystique. Something ME3 didn't do.

2)Meeting vigil, and the giant exposition dump

3)Liara/Shepard last conversation before star child.

4) Tali/Legion in ME2

5) Mordin Solus

Suicide mission up to terminator esque looking final boss. I mean ME 2 was one of the masterpieces from last gen, but the way it all came together at the end made it for me.

Exploring the Citadel for the first time! And getting lost in it...

(That music will stick with me forever)

Oh and pretty much the entirety of ME2. That one's cheating though

Oh, definitely the Sovereign conversation from ME1

Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.

Was so damn good, to suddenly be able to see the true puppetmaster take hold.

Honestly also just loved exploring the random worlds, terrible topography and all.

From ME2. probably either the picking the right squaddies for the suicide mission and seeing things unfold...or Lair of The Shadow Broker and Shepard's Benny-Hill style driving is probably up there.

ME3 probably is just Citadel, because nearly everything else in that game is still tainted by my memory of the original ending.

Mine is simple - booting up the main menu from the first game. The epic music on the menu screen made my hairs go up - I knew this was going to be an epic experience.

I love that piece of music (they occasionally used a bit of it again in trailers etc)

Mass Effect 2's opening sequence and the suicide mission. The only game in the series that I replayed quite a few times.

edit: Shadowbroker DLC too.

The end game of ME1. That ramping up of tension until you get back to the Citadel and everything is fucked will forever be one of my favorite videogame moments.

This, up to M4 Part II.

Also, the conversation with Sovereign.

Vigil.

And the whole Lair of the Shadow Broker from ME2.

Krogan stuff on ME3 with Wrex and Mordin.

Basically the entirety of ME2. It's one of those memories elevated by what was happening in life, I remember a huuuuuuuuge snowstorm that kept me out of school for a solid week+ back when I was in highschool. Just binged on that game the whole time and loved it.

Specifically from the game itself, not sure. Probably the Mordin death in 3.

Unfortunately it says a lot about the series that my favorite part was the very first moment you landed in the Citadel and started exploring the city. That was really cool, so many places to see, so many new species I've never seen before. It really spoke to my imagination. All that's gone now. Even during the first game that sense of wonder started to dissolve rapidly after seeing the copy/paste locations. I'm sure there were good quests and moments in the games, but I'm struggling really hard to remember any specifics.

Paying 1.99 for the first game in a Steam sale, starting playing it and realising I'd paid so little for such a massive and great game, and wondering how I hadn't gotten around to playing it earlier.

Either the Reaper reveal in ME1 or the ending of the same game. Reaper reveal was insanely cool cause I hadn't delved very deep into scifi back then at all, so the whole "unknown threat sleeps at the edge of universe" thing was completely new and awesome to me.

The whole ending sequence was amazing too and I absolutely loved the Faunts song that played during the credits, like I can still remember having endless goosebumps during the credits lol.

Two things come to mind:

- ME2's suicide mission. The atmosphere, the uncertainty, Harbinger, everything was so intense.

- ME3's opening hour. ME2 felt like a series of side quests until the suicide mission, but ME3 opened up with a bang. Everything was exciting, everything was dramatic. Amazing.
