When will it be realistic to buy a PS5?

My insider source told me realistically 3/4 months before the current pre-orders are even fulfilled.

Xbox both models readily available.

Wonder how many are turning to Xbox due to scarcity of PS5.

One thing I don't understand at this point, why don't retailers like best buy and ebgames take pre-orders, wouldn't this reduce the number of units scalpers would get thier hands on? Photo ID and $50 deposit required.
Most likely because playstation is also selling consoles online for inflated prices too. Like that recent nike story.

In Europe it's still borderline impossible to buy one for RRP, and extremely hard even if you are willing to pay hundreds more. If pre-orders from October are only now being fulfilled, and there are still millions of people actively looking to buy one in short order, I don't see the situation really getting any better any time soon.

The combination of stifled production + abnormal demand + people losing their job and taking up scalping full-time could have clogged up the entire system so bad that until early 2022 and beyond it might become relatively easy to buy a PS5, but still almost impossible to do so at RRP.

On the other hand, the GPU situation on PC is even worse, because it's all that + a new crypto-mining bubble that just started to inflate a few months back, which multiplies the demand to a theoretical infinity as long as a GPU can repay itself in a few months and start generating profit by mining Ethereum.
