When will it be realistic to buy a PS5?

I am confident that you'll be able to order one starting March. That's when I'll buy mine.

Hopefully next year because I need to get me some of that scalping pie. Managed to order 4, and would receive them by December 15th. I'll take advantage of the Christmas rush and sell it for a healthy profit. 🙂

Next gen will get most of the same games anyway the coming months so you aren't missing so much.

Just don't think about it and they'd be in stock en masse eventually.

I went to an electronics store last week to buy some headphones and a customer asked a store employee that same question. He said he expects the first units at the end of january (earliest). More likely february/march.

I would want to wait until gt7 to take ps5 as i dont need so many games on it not last gen games im not doing that, so for just pure exclusive ps5 games its too early. All i need are ooen world games and racing games. All single player only dont care for any mp there so not much for me , kinda dont need demon souls or spiderman . Other i have on pc

You can realistically get one now; just be prepared to have a little patience and some good timing / luck.

I am hoping for March-April 2021. Didn't Sony say they were ramping up production even more? Maybe that was just bullshit I heard from people.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is still hard to get stock by then though. Maybe a little later in 2021. I am very hopeful that I'll be able to buy one easily at some point in 2021, when things have cooled down a bit. The demand seems crazy high though. Unlike anything I've seen.

Meh, even if I would to get one now, I would have to dish out exactly 150 BAM or converted 93$ to buy Demon's Souls and that is absolutely unacceptable for me. Because everything else is really not worth buying console for.

I can wait, at least until GT7 or FF XVI release date, then I would start to panic.

I'll wait for a nice bundle next fall. By that time all or most of the issues people are reporting are hopefully solved too.

I think by Spring 2021 like I said earlier should be a lot easier to find one casually in a store.

March at the earliest, I think by then a lot of the frenzy will have died down and stock should be easier to come by. It will still be regularly out of stock, but unlikely as insane like we see now. The holidays always bring out the manic shoppers.

Besides, there is nothing on PS5 that is a must-have for anyone right now. Demon's Souls looks great, but it's just a remake of a PS3 title.

Sackboy and Spiderman are already on PS4 I believe, so this really leaves ASTRO'S PLAYROOM and DEMON'S SOULS as the only true PS5 console exclusives. I don't think either are system sellers.

XBOX also has nothing that is must own on Series consoles. So other than buying the new consoles just to buy them and get in early, there's no real reason to own it as this minute as you're not really missing out.

I do hope everyone who wants these consoles is able to find them without much hassle soon. This pandemic has really been helped by myself playing into more games and just relaxing. Otherwise I think I would go crazy.

Looking forward to getting one, but seems to me that my standard rule of waiting 6 months to get onboard is both smart and practical.

I think January 2021 is completely realistic. Will it be as easy as a PS4 in January 2020? No. But getting one should not be that hard if you are determined. Soon after Xmas is over the hordes and scalpers will be replaced by people who want it just to play.

Thankfully, my PS4 Pro has not crumbled into dust just yet.

I'm actually much more frustrated by Nvidia, because I want to play a bunch of games on PC in as good a light as possible and can't do it because they've fucked up the launch of the 3080 and also launched 3 more cards they fucked up on. What's the point of releasing a cheaper version of an impossible to find card that is also impossible to find?

Its for marketing purposes.

Right now there are many bug and glitches plaguing PS5, we have no idea what will happen to PS5's in the next few months so it's better to wat for the revision which will fix some of these problems.

In its current technological state, not at all - that is, not unless there has been a significant revision that will make it run under reasonable conditions without people having to fear that it could break down any month due to its bad thermals.

On sunday i went to a Sears and i found plenty to go around. Any other store had none. Sears is not known as carrying videogames here in mexico.

I just purchased a 2nd hand PS4 Pro after years keeping with the base PS4...and the fact that we will have cross-generational titles for the next 2 years is fine in that regard which would determine how soon possibly I would get a PS5.....I may get one towards the 2nd half of next year not sure....I was thinking of getting Mass Effect for the PS5 but not entirely sure there...either

Just wait until next year, staying for hours at a computer refreshing is not worth it at this point, I would think by Feb you be able to get one with some effort. Anything you do now you more likely to end up with nothing unless your wanna pay double to a scum scalper. Paying someone like $150-200 extra that is only selling one or two systems I got no problem with but when people are buying hundreds or thousands then selling them $1000 F them they could care less if gaming died as a market. I wanted a PS5 but couldn't get one at first so I was content with riding out a PS4 pro until next year but that broke so I wont even be able to finish many of my PS games now.

Waiting till I can order one off Amazon so I can get %5 back and free shipping. Guessing late winter or early spring , but who knows . May take longer . I'm ok waiting a bit , as Demons Souls is the only game I want to play .

I'm not going to buy a PS5 from a reseller. And I'm getting exhausted competing with bots online. So I've decided I won't buy a PS5 until I'm randomly in a target or walmart and see one in stock. I don't need one that bad.

When would that realistically be? Summer 2021? Spring 2022?
It should be easily available from February/March IMO. Look at PS4. It took 4 months to stabilize the situation.

i wasn't able to get a 360 until april after they came out. so don't expect one untill at least april i'd say. with covid it may be summer

I said the exact same for the Series X after my launch console stuffed up. I went into a local EB games here in Melbourne 1st thing in the morning. Just asked if they had any in stock. Guy went out back and said they have heaps and did I want one!?! Of fucking course! And knock on wood it seems to be working great!

They'll be more widely available in the Spring and everywhere by Summer, when the bottom of the scalping market falls out.

Look at the bright side: you'll avoid most of the teething problems of launch. There's quite a few PS5 (and Xbox Series) owners who basically feel like beta testers right now. Most if not all of the wrinkles should be ironed out over the next 6-9 months and you'll enjoy a smoother experience with lower chance of console failure.

As an aside, altho I'm addicted to shiny new hardware, I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to the PS5 Slim/revision far more than I expected. The launch model is a behemoth and I find myself going back n forth between whether I like the look or find it hideous and tacky. I'm leaning more towards the latter as it really looks out of place in my otherwise all black component entertainment center setup. It looks especially awkward layed horizontal so I'm really hopeful the revision improves the aesthetic.

Finally, consider that realistically the launch lineup is pretty spartan. Once you play Demons Souls, that's pretty much it. And even that is a remake of an 11 year old game. Miles Morales is on PS4. Sack Boy is meh. Astrobot is a controller demo, albeit cool demonstration of what could happen if devs use the vibration features. I personally find much more value in PS5 running older games in my PS4 backlog better. If you also have a lot of PS4 games you haven't played yet then this might be a better reason for you to get a PS5 than thinking about the slim launch lineup you're "missing out on". (for me, this goes double for the Xbox series, by the way...poor launch lineup but I have a massive backlog of Xbox games that are all "new to me" which play amazingly on the new consoles).

Anyway, I get it. I want the new stuff right away too. But for now you're not missing much. Next year by this time
there should be more new games to justify the purchase. I think you have the right attitude. If you chance on one then great snap it up. But I wouldn't go out of my way sitting outside stores or using stock trackers and hitting F5 for hours on end. Neither new console has enough new games to justify that kind of insanity. Try to be patient and look forward to owning a patched version with less problems in a few months.

Big store chains here in Germany, like Media Markt, won't sell PS5s in their stores even if they could, because they don't want mobs of people running around and rushing to grab PS5s because of Covid. Almost all stores only sell digitally. And when they go on sale, people crash the web store sites. The last time they went up, IIRC last thursday, I managed to put one in my shopping cart in two different stores; one went to out of stock when I went to check out, the other site stopped loading during one step of the process, and after reloading the page, it was out of stock. Lost almost two hours to this shit. Supposedly, I'm getting one through work, but until I have it in my hands, I'm not convinced I'll really get it.

Realistically when sony shifts its focus back to japan and publicly apologizes for its censorship bullshit, releases a non fugly PS5 Pro and a dualsense with a better DPAD

Stock wise it should be Q2 2021

I don't know if it's because of COVID but this gen's console launches seem absolutely crazy. I didn't really pay attention when the PS4 and Xbox One launched but man, it's mental.

Could be summer but after schools finish demand will go up again. Hard to know as the ps5 has big hitters on the way. Will prob be sold out next holiday too.
