Didn't we have an end of 2008 release date?

This album is never coming out

A couple of months ago Snoop and Game were talking about it being done and ready to go. Then Dr Dre's son got killed, so that may be delaying it again.

it's coming out the same time as plus 44's new cd, MSTRKRFT's new cd, and Eminem's new cd. October 2008.... wait a second!

I know he's been real anal about getting it right. The pressure is one for this to be the most anticipated album in decades.

I hear there's supposed to be some breakthru percussive style, I can't wait to hear this.

I'm guessing it'll never come out. :/ I really want it to, though, so that we can get that Bishop Lamont debut album, too.

I love Dre but just because he took so long it will be impossible for it to meet expectations. I just can't imagine any revolutionary production techniques that would have justified this kind of wait.

I bet we get both Em and Dre's new albums in 2009. A nice Aftermath comeback year. It'll be like 2000/2001 all over again.

Hasn't Detox been in the works since like, 10 years ago? I remember hearing about it when I was in my teen gangster days.

Apparently from an itnerview in August:
"I'm just now – over the last couple of months – starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,” Dre told the interviewer. “In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.”

He's too busy getting ripped. He's rich a mutherfucker he can afford to make us wait 7 or 8 years between albums.

He wasn't killed.

He died.

There's a huge difference.
No there isn't. Old age, cancer, other things can "kill" someone. Something caused his death, thus he was "killed" by it.

Looks like the shell game over at Interscope Records won’t be ending any time soon. After several false starts and unspecified release dates regarding Dr. Dre and Eminem’s long-delayed projects, label head Jimmy Iovine recently provided some hope for at least one of the discs to hit shelves before 2008 fades away. In a recent interview with Billboard, Iovine revealed that Dre is putting the freeze on Detox to help put the final touches on Marshall’s next opus.

“Eminem was always coming next year,” he revealed. “But what happened was, I lost Dr. Dre to Eminem. Dre had to stop making his album to finish Eminem’s album. Eminem hit a streak, and when a guy like Eminem gets on fire, you stop everything. That’s how we lost Dre.”

Don’t fret, though, as Iovine says we’ve only lost the Good Doc for a few months. “Dre’s going back in in January. He’ll be finished with Eminem by then, and he’ll finish his album.”

While Iovine provided forward progress regarding his marquee artists’ releases, he was still tight-lipped on specific release dates and a title for Em’s fifth solo LP. —Anslem Samuel

I love how you can use English words in so many ways.. The problem in writing is when you keep people wondering needlessly(natural or violent). That's why made polyh3dron verification. Pretty simple.

He's correct though. Deal with it.

He said he was killed.

He didn't say he was killed by someone. If you read too much into it because of stereotypes or whatever, that's not his fault.

Meh Rakim...What did he ever do for Hip-Hop.......

R had that track on the 8 mile soundtrack, didn't he even mention the album on there?

God I want that album.

So he was killed by cancer, is that how he died?

"And Dr. Dre said... nothing you idiots, Dr. Dre's dead, he's locked in my basement!"

Detox was a joke then. Just remember that.

Hmm, I don't think Jimmy would talk about it if he didn't think it'd be out before May.

Detox is hip-hop's Chinese Democracy.

Let's hope Detox turns out as well as CD did. I'm very interested in it, last I heard Dre said he was working with live instruments and stuff like that. Sounds very cool.

Dre > The jokers out there today

aside from the Iovine interview, check out the Stat Quo interview

basically he says that Dre has done hundreds of tracks, eminem has done hundreds of tracks, he has done 500-600 tracks all of which will never come out because they are never happy with what they do, says that Dre would take a lot of tracks off 2001 because he hates them, not sure if Dre is still a perfectionist or if he is delusional now.

When someone dies in their sleep you don't usually say that they were killed, but I digress.
