Where Winds Meet |OT| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

The game's rating on Steam has been slowly recovering from the day 1 review bombing. Already up to 84% positive.

What yall think? Controller or m+kb?
IMO controller for actual gameplay, and mouse for menu navigation... because navigating these menus with a controller can be pretty annoying.

Aura Farm no jutsu.

Sukuna vibes

I use both, since well, I'm playing on PC.

Controller for combat and exploration, even though there are some combat mechanics that may be harder with it.

For example the floating umbrella shooting is difficult to adjust aim with a controller. You can see it was designed with K+M in mind.

Then I use K+B for menu interaction and NPC talking. China won't be sampling my voice :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This game is even worse optimized on PS5 than Wuwa. Sony should stop moneyhating those crappy chinese ports.

The lady ugly mini-quest in the first region was kind of hardcore 😲
Also first time I visited a cave/dungeon where you have to steal treasures while ennemies are roaming and spy to steal a martial art technique. There's so many things to do.

Just booted the game up. Seems interesting enough so far. Limited on time to give it a proper play through but man oh man the VA for Ruby feels so out of place. She just sounds like an adult that is talking to little kids rather than emulating a childs voice in her voice acting. Just annoys me and takes me out of the immersion. Everything else seems fine. Considering switching over to the original language just because of this one VA

ended up putting a couple hours into the game. Pretty solid for f2p. maybe the most intriguing of its kind I would say. Really nice blend of different games

If you look at the NPC character that was learning "Leaping Toad" mystic skill, he looks like "The Beast" in the movie "Kungfu Hustle", who possess the same mystic skill.

While some of its many minigames and stealth systems could use a polish, this martial arts action-RPG is actually well worth your time. If future updates focus on its strengths and rein in the gimmicks, this joyous open world will be a pleasure to fight your way through.

Been looking forward to this one since I first saw stuff about it like 3-4 months ago.

This game looks great but is absolutely destroying my system lol. 20+GB ram usage, all 12 CPU threads at 100% and GPU at 100% - 40fps 1% avg 55-60fps. Max settings, 1440p. Doesn't support DLSS, just FSR.

Chinese developers won't bend the knee to the woke West,

Oh yeah? You can choose body type 1 or body type 2.

Just found a wiki where they made a map to explain the menus... :

What The Hell Wtf GIF
Chinese people must LOVE this shit, because every f2p/gacha Chinese game I've ever played is exactly like this, lol.

My biggest complaints is that there are no direct buttons to get to anything. No J for journal, no I for inventory. I think M works for map, but I didn't try it.

For anyone who actually wants to know about this, the Chinese domestic version of the game (not available internationally) has Male and Female

Early global beta of this game had Male and Female

It was changed at the last minute before the game was officially released to global

Some woke localizer pulled a fast one but it's not clear anyone in China cares enough to fix it now after release

The English voice acting is terrible all around and gives the game a completely different vibe. Change it to Chinese early and never look back.

It absolutely supports DLSS and the game runs like butter, are you running this on a Steam Machine? Seriously though, what is your setup?…because it seems like something else is going on, I'm not seeing anything remotely similar with CPU or memory usage.

So build wise the umbrella only pairs good with the fan?

I've come across a build helper on the menus, after going for the strategic sword, and I think I'm gonna start aiming for a Strategic Sword + Heavenly Spear build.

hmm check again :P

Maybe a driver issue, I'll update them after work. System is an 8700K, 32gb DDR4-3200 and a 5060Ti 16gb.

im using panacea and strategic sword, been fun so far ^^

Yeah the game runs amazingly well maxed out. The standalone launcher actually has an Ultimate spec option but it's currently greyed out.

Not going to get into the whole dub vs sub argument here but what I will say is that unless you actually understand Chinese, you're going to be missing a lot of dialogue and story because the subtitles often flies by too fast to read, especially during action. Also the subtitles are sometimes just outright wrong and/or mismatched to the voice lines

This is a great game, seriously. When you understand the systems and go past the overwhelming phase from the beginning, the game becomes a blast.

Hard to believe this is free

In Online mode doing some group meditation and just saw a notification that someone got an achievement for spending 160 hours in prison... lol this game is so weird

I fixed my DLSS issue, the game was launching in DX11. Got it to launch in DX12, and not only does it look way better, but it's running at 120fps avg with 80ish 1% lows.

Heard that console performance was bad in Kaifeng so I tried it out and it's not as bad as I was expecting, but it's probably worse on base PS5. It's essentially just an unstable 60fps on PS5 Pro, but the pop-in is atrocious compared to PC.

If you leave Qinghe to Kaifeng with 'boatman' can you go back? I still have a lot to do in the first region but I the same time I want to see the city.

So global version is already fucking things up for us.

The new event costume that they launched is incredibly more expensive for global players, than it was on China.

Same full attire on China cost 2580 pearls, while for us global, it skyrocketed to 7440 pearls, because everytime you pull, the costs increases :messenger_tears_of_joy:

yeah i wasnt surprised at all :D

Yeah its funny that most of the outfit the games gives you are better looking and more coherent than whatever bullshit they have going on in that store

I'm with you there, but this latest added costume with the eye band is actually pretty cool to.

Anyway, if I decide to support the game, I'm going the Battle Pass route only.

If they add new costumes every single Battle Pass (which isn't that hard to do, to be honest), I'm perfectly fine with it.

Because, by the lucks of it, the gacha system itself in this game is gonna be insanely predatory.

EDIT: Well, that was fast:

Most of the time I'm a dub fan, but it's too cheesy in this game. Also, there is the issue that many parts of the game aren't voiced in English, but are in Chinese, which is a problem. But yes, the subs are way too fast. Luckily I've been ok so far, but they zoom for sure if you aren't speed reading.

The cosmetic monetization is predatory as fuck for sure. Luckily it's only cosmetics, but it's still kind of shitty that the exact same items are 3-4x more expensive on the Global server than the CN servers. Even worse that some of the direct buy items from CN are now gacha on Global.

Fortunately, you can play the entire game and never interact with this stuff, not to mention a lot of the paid outfits are really gaudy and just over the top IMO. I guess if you are spending that kind of money you want something that really stands out, but I really like the standard costumes I've been unlocking just from playing. Swords Unseen was the first one that really had me taking a second look, but the fact they pulled this right off the bat doesn't inspire me to want to spend any money, and certainly not $130 for one outfit. I'm not really a gacha fan anyway but at a certain point it's just disrespectful to an entirely new audience, who so far have been nothing but positive about the game.

How did you switch from DX11 to 12? Having the same issue where DLSS isn't being shown

Go to steam, open the game's properties, go to launch parameters and write down -dx12. It should work
Thanks so much papitoooo
