Where would the world be without American inventions?

Man is right, you know. Not only that, America was the bit Europe didn't want. Britain had the naval capabilities to retain either the Caribbean or the Thirteen Colonies against French intervention, but not both. So, like any wise man, they chose where the rum came from.

Jokes aside, this is a short sighted way to look at things, every single inventor ever was influenced by somebody else, like the sayin, Standing on the shoulders of giants.

what kind of savage nation would still force their citizens to pay taxes to feed some "queen" who received that title by no qualifications of their own in this age. Oh shes the queen and you all are peasants, thats how it always works. sorry mr. obama you cant be a queen, you have to be born one, otherwise you are a peasant. But dont forget to pay your taxes so my grandkids can get married in chariots

Many items in your list simply wouldn't have been possible without the prior research of others, and other items just aren't true.

But really, who cares. It seems that this thread is just a silly troll attempt and you just know that no good will actually come from this discussion. I mean Lunchbox has already posted multiple times in this thread, that tells you everything you need to know.

Still Great Britain. Slavery hasn't been legal since 1102 on our fair isle.
 
In the second half of the 20th C America was definitely a hotbed of innovation and contributed a lot to the world. It really shares a lot of the talent pool with Europe and her colonies though, and sometimes its hard to separate "American inventions" and "Inventions made in America by non-American people".

It would be a different world, but assuming Europe didn't destroy itself in the 20th century I think we'd maybe only be a little ways behind on the technology curve.

I was pretty deliberate in my jabs, but in all seriousness, I think the list is really amazing. Something about the way this country works promotes innovation and I'd hate to see that stifled. I think technical innovation has done more to promote the common good and well-being of humanity than anything else. I don't think that's even debatable. Is it?
