Do you want me to dig up gruesome pictures of people killed in firebombings, or by artillery fire, or machineguns? Why should they be any more ashamed for destroying a city with an atom bomb than for destroying it overnight with great firestorms started by fleets of bombers carrying incendiary devices? Strategic bombing was the shameful thing, Little Boy and Fat Man were just icing on the cake.
 
Eh most of the most important scientists,philosophers,mathematicians and physicist were European. Europe pretty much gave us the modern world. This is a no-contest. Maybe in an ultimate twist of irony they will manage to take it all away with the debt crisis huhuhuhu

I'm not saying the continent is the center of the world in terms of culture or technology at this point in time or even for the past 50-60 years, or whether it will even be relevant in this century. But if we are to historically observe how we got to where we are at and the great thinkers and events that brought us this far, you would be insane to think otherwise.

He's saying that there were many great Indian/Muslim/etc mathematicians and philosophers.
 
The modern car, mp3, Penicillin, Aspirin, X-Rays, rockets, tooth paste, tea bags, television, scanner etc. etc. were invented/discovered by German scientists alone. You wouldn't want to live without that stuff.
 
Did this entire thread go by and nobody mentioned the single most important invention of the last hundred years? Nobody sitting on a machine full of a billion transistors here?
 
I always felt sorry for Tommy Flowers, invents the electronic programmable computer and gets a block of flats named after him.
