Where's the Platinum Games love?

I think a lot of people recognize their talent and their games. I dont think this forum is the problem. The problem is the kids that only play COD so the Platinum games dont sell too well.

oh please, this is terrible opinion. Every game ever that doesnt sell gangbusters could try to use this as a crutch and it is nonsense every time.

One of my favorite developers period. I'd care about these games if they where on anything else besides the Wii U. Never going to buy the system.

Well, I can only hope my poor communication in the OP means that this thread lasts for a little while cuz I like to see people talking about Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2. I've heard so little mention of them amidst the raucous spectacle of E3, and I hope that GAF's love for Platinum can help spur more interest in these two fantastic titles.

Confession. I secretly like that Platinum does not get a tonne of mainstream love because that means I can pick up an amazingly fun game for $15-$20 in a few months of the release of their games.
There is a special place in hell for you right next to those who decided XBone's policies.

This forum splooges all over Platinum whenever they find a reason to. With all due respect, you must live under a rock.

Me personally I still think of Mikami/Kamiya when I think of Platinum, shame they split from Capcom but they still make the same stuff.

Which is pretty surprising considering how long they've been at it,

That's pretty much how I feel as well.

I'd love to play bayonetta 2. Bayonetta 1 was one of my favourite games this gen. But right now there's not near enough reason for me to get a Wii U.

They have two awesome exclusives for the Wii U but none of that matters because there's no reason getting a Wii U since it has no good exclusives.

I don't really get this stance. If you're really a diehard fan of Platinum, you want to play their games, and the Wii U has two exclusives, then by definition shouldn't you at least be interested in the system?

Or this.

They get plenty of love on here.

In fact I will be buying the W101 at or near launch and won't even own and a WII U and very well might not by the time Bayo 2 ships because 200 for 32 gig is the most I will pay for the machine.

So very possible I will own both Plats games for a platform I don't even own.

I think you guys may have answered my question there. There's plenty of Platinum Games love, just there is more Wii U disinterest/hate. To the point where games that people would absolutely love to play will go unplayed. What a shame.

Platinum's games are like icing on a cake. Its awesome but if the cake tastes like shit I probably wont eat it.

Nintendo need to make the cake taste better.

I swear I've downloaded about twenty 30FPS W101 and Bayonetta 2 trailers claiming to be 60FPS versions. When is Platinum going to fix'em already? :P

Yeah, I think GAF is pretty much the number one Platinum fanclub. I love those crazy sumbitches. Vanquish is the best shooter of the generation, Bayonetta the best action game, Revengeance is my GOTY so far. Those guys get it.

Everyone loves Platinum games.

Its just that they're focusing on Wii U, now, so, most of us don't have much to say.

Oh they have a lot to say, it's just that it'd most likely be whining and port begging which leads to bans.

Platinum is awesome btw OP.

Wonderful 101 loos incredible. Cannot wait to play it. Unfortunately won't be able to until (likely) next year.

I don't see why I should be interested in a console, just because it has a game I'm interested in.

I mean, I'm interested in Halo 5 and Forza 5 as well. But I have no interest in the Xbox One.

For Profit Companies aren't charities, the freedom to buy at a price that appeals to you, or not at all is not something to trifled with.
That's a wonderful statement that has nothing to do with what I said.

How so? (Not the DRM thing, waiting for games to drop in price)
I didn't say that waiting for games to drop in price is a bad thing. I am talking specifically about Platinum Games, one of the best developers in the world who consistently has trouble staying afloat because their games undersell. Clover studios died for this reason. I do have scorn for people who love games from a particular developer yet shortchange them. Support what you love, especially if it needs your support.

If you aren't interested in a console for its games (particularly exclusives), then what would make you interested? I can understand disliking the Xbox One for non-game-related reasons, but not the Wii U.

If W101 and Bayonetta don't make buying a Wii U worth it to you, that's cool. But games are the only reason to be interested in a video game console. Do you buy hardware so that it looks nice in your entertainment cabinet?

I think I saw what you did there... But it's hard to tell because of some of the other posts.

hahaha!

Can't wait for The Wonderful 101 personally, it's shaping up to be a pretty great game from what we've seen so far. And yeah Kamiya.

There are plenty of styles of game that, even if they were the finest game of the year in terms of objective quality, would be ignored by the current generation that desires a relatively narrow flavor of entertainment.

Publishers aren't trying to literally "COD-ify" every game they can for no reason.

yeah i don't know why platinum is ignored on this forum

Yeah, and what do I have to do to hear some positive opinions on Nier around here?

Apart from just saying the name, obviously.

Silliness aside, I've never really felt drawn to any of Platinum's games, though Wonderful 101 looks pretty neat.

I guess I don't understand passing on a console that has games that appeal to you. Even if I'm not interested in the majority of a console's catalog, generally I will pick it up if there is a game I want to play there. A post-price dropped Wii U with both Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 should be appealing to any Platinum fan, right?

This has exactly to do with what I said.

By shortchange you mean buying the game at a lower price.

Everyone loves Platinum
Lots of people hate that these games are Wii U exclusive
Ergo bitterness from everyone but Wii U owners (and future owners)

Or this.
Two titles is not enough to waste the money on a system I'll never touch after these two. Not a single game Nintendo makes is of any interest to me or my gaming experience's.

I love Platinum games, I just don't $60 love them or anyone else.

I'm buying a Wii U for those two titles :P

And Rising is my GOTY so far.

<3 Platinum. They are the only developer right now with a major influence on my console choices, otherwise I'll just stick to PC.

Not my primary reason for buying a Wii U, but both titles definitely are going to push me over the hedge and force me to buy one. I'm just hoping I can wait until the price drops.

And I liked Rising quite a bit until I got the ylod on my PS3. Now I'm just waiting for the pc version and a sale on Steam. I'll be all over it.

I think a console can be interesting without looking at the titles it has. Yeah, obviously a console without any games is pointless. But the games on the consoles are made possible because of the consoles.

I'm interested in the PS4 because it has good hardware in it. And they're doing some interesting stuff with the gaikai stuff.

I'm not interested in the Wii U because it has insanely outdated hardware in it, and it's controller seems like a pointless gimmick to me, that not even nintendo seems to know what to do with.

Nintendo better damned well throw their weight behind The Wonderful 101. I want to see sweeping advertising and pushing.

I like the new Platinum/Nintendo relationship, and I'd like to see more of it. Nintendo makes a good sugar daddy when it chooses.

bayonetta 2 is probably the only game that can make me buy a wii U right now...if i'm lucky the console will have another one or two price drops from here to when the game is out
