Where's the Platinum Games love?

I still have a lot of love for Platinum Games, it just happens their new games are on a console I have little interest in. I think there would be more love for Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101, if they were on different consoles or multi platform. I know it has been said many times already. I dont really fault PG or Nintendo funding the games, but since I have no desire to buy a WiiU, I dont want to talk much about the games. Bayonetta 2 does look pretty good though and it will be tough not playing it.

This is such an odd reasoning to me. Why do you buy consoles, to play games or to put the box in a glass cabinet and look at it?

If you love Platinum Games and a system has exclusives from them, shouldn't that make you interested in the system? Especially since you think it will be 'tough not playing it'?

Platinum games are also not huge sellers, and it would probably not be that easy go find a publisher for the other two systems considering the higher cost of development, I imagine. No one but Nintendo even wanted to fund Bayonetta 2 and that was for the old consoles at the time. The industry is getting more and more homogenous if the shooter and sports fest at E3 is any indication. And here comes a publisher and gives these rather niche games that you like a chance and you are not interested only because they're not on the platform of your choice. I understand not outright buying the system but if those games don't make the system more interesting to you, then you don't love those games as much as you claim to begin with.

It's like the Gamecube all over again, at least where I live. Nintendo are funding some amazing games and people are entirely ignoring them because of some reason. Utterly irrational.

I don't buy a console for crazy amounts of power, I have my PC for that. Give me the amazing exclusive games and I will buy your console.

How can you love a studio that asks you 400€ to play a sequel?

Besides, both games had pretty decent coverage on French sites. Was it different in the anglo-saxon press?

i'm so shocked this thread turned into this.

TW101 can come right into my arms. I haven't been so joyously excited about a brand new game since Little King's Story.

Is this still a thing, that people blame p* that no one beside Nintendo ask them to make games for them? Also 400€? Wii U premium is around 250€ here. If it was PS4 exclusive would you have said the same?

Are you under some bizarre assumption that it was Platinum's decision to put Bayonetta on Wii U?

Well, let's hate Sony for having KillZone: Shadow Fall on PS4 ;)

Bayonetta2 und W101 will receive their fair share of love. A lot of it. And if some ignorant people want to play games on "real consoles", well, just let them have it their way. I will enjoy B2 (and probably even B1) on WiiU alongside W101, because those games are great. And somewhat different from grey-brown-orange FPS which tend to flood the market.

I'm sure you would say the same about the new Final Fantasy, Infamous or whatever. Nothing to see here guys.

But seriously, this game wouldn't have ever happened if it wasn't for Nintendo, it's not like they decided to make it Nintendo exclusive through choice.

Bayonetta 2 hate is understable because Bayonetta wasn't even released on a nintendo console... so its fanbase is alienated

Bayonetta is attractive, and that's about it.

Yeah I am in believing in the notion that bayo's popularity hinges in the on chance that instuno just will never make another DMC, but if he does, that is kind of the end of her run. Because that was the void she was attempting to fill. And I like istuno action games better than Kamiya ones.

W101 looks cool though

What studio asked that?

At first I was like "Dafuq?"

But after thinking about it, the past few years have convinced me that Capcom lost their luster a while back. So I think it would be very interesting to see Bayo go up against a DMC5.

No it's not. Being a fan of both Nintendo and Sega and seeing a lot of titles I liked get released as PS1-2 exclusives was disappointing, but I never in my life held it against, devs/pubs/or even outraged in this manner.

It would be.

I need nero back with his ghost dad, that arm mechanic was godly.

Game series change platforms all the time.

If Bayonetta is somehow your first time experiencing this, consider yourself lucky.

Yeah, it would have been much better to never get Bayonetta 2 at all.
Or hell they could have made it an Xbone exclusive or something like that.

Gotta admit, Playing with Nero was the only time I liked a "yank" mechanic in an action game.

I'm hoping Platinum will push for a more action-esque environmental-interaction/platforming experience. (Not saying Bayo didn't have it, that shit was a great start, but I want to have more thrown at me that pushes my responses and thinking to the limit.)

This. Words of Wisdom.

yea but we're going into fresh platforms all across the board. i was one of the handful of people who bought bayonetta on the 360. i'm on wii u, not alienated at all. looks like a lot of people are with me as well.

Still less than 460 or 560, right?

Correct, just tell me which Wii IP that comes to PS4/X1 makes such purchase necessary

Well, let's hate Sony for having KillZone: Shadow Fall on PS4 ;)

Yeah, after all Killzone 3 was a major Wii exclusive.

Are you under some bizarre assumption that it was Platinum's decision to put Bayonetta on Wii U?

I don't blame them. I just have mixed feelings towards them at seeing this game go away from me, not to mention the fact they haven't announced anything for PS4/X1.

It is however, a PS4 exclusive. People are going to need to spend good money on that sequel, PS4's aren't cheap. Time to blame Sony for not developing a PS3 version.

Can you see how dumb that sounds? If you can, that's what the Bayonetta 2 situation sounds like to me.

Also, they didn't let Bayonetta 2 get away from you, the game didn't fucking exist and would never exist without Nintendo. I would be very surprised if a meltdown like this would happen if Nintendo funded Shenmue 3 or something.

I've never considered myself a Platinum Games fan even though I own Bayonetta on 360 and Vanquish on PS3, but the Wonderful 101 (especially the multiplayer component) looks amazingly fun. Out of everything I've seen from E3 it's probably the game I'm most excited for to play.

You can't see things working out well for them when Nintendo's cutting the cheques and keeping them in business while a 3rd-party publisher cancelled what would have been their most recent project?

...... OK then.
I certainly agree with Platinum making Nintendo exclusives in the short term if that's what it takes to keep them in business. But subsistence on a single, struggling platform is a precarious position, not "things working out well". I want to see them thrive and able to develop for all platforms they want to work with.

Objectively speaking, Wii U is the worst environment for Platinum's style. Fast-paced 3D games like Bayonetta and Vanquish are able to gain a ton from faster hardware with near-zero extra work; just bumping the framerate, res and AA would do so much for them. At the end of this year Wii U will be far behind other platforms in performance. Platinum's games also have a relatively small audience, thus have a hard time competing for shelf space, which increases the importance of digital sales, where Nintendo has always been way behind.

Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 are two of the reasons I really want a Wii U now. I'm happy to hear that they are both amazing.

Haters be damned, if they really supported Platinum Games, they would buy a Wii U to support them. It's bound to have a price drop sooner or later.

I do not understand how someone holds the platform choice against Bayonetta 2, really.

When buying Bayonetta, you are not buying a promise. You are not buying a promise: "From now on, we shall only make these kinds of games for either 360/PS3 or their successors".

Nope. That is bullshit. You are buying the game.
I am sure that Platinum Games would have loved to make it a PS3/360/Wii U game, but they cant do it. What we have now is potentially better than anything seen on PS3/360, as far as style/graphics are concerned - imho -, and for that, I am grateful to them. Even if it means that on the day of Bayonetta 2's release, I will have to buy a Wii U myself.

Because for some people( MANY MANY PEOPLE) outside of bayo 2 they would essentially be buying a brick.

Well this is true for me, but I'm still doing it even with how unwise it is.

Well then they have a simple decision to make: is Bayo 2, for them, worth the cost of the game + the brick?

So you assume that Killzone fans want Sony to stop making new hardware and not making more advanced Killzone games?

This comparison doesn't hold. PS3 owners are likely to have a PS4 in their budget. But if you ask them to spend a further 350€ for another console they weren't considering at all then there's a problem.

Ninty needs to make a western release of Yakuza 5 possible.
Nintendo needs to make that happen.

We did see the same trailer right? I coulda swore that game looked amazing.

Also why the hell wouldn't at least 500k+ (ideally a Mill) out of 3.42 mil wouldn't invest in a title like Bayonetta 2? What game is gonna overshadow it? It's literally a game that you can't find anywhere else with a load of hype and controversy backing it. What's up with this idea that the Nintendo market can't appreciate these games? Especially when it's not over saturated with one main genre.

I think anyone who would invest in a Wii U aren't seeking high end specs, they're seeking good games, you don't need the strongest console in the world to make a good game.

After seeing those embarrasing tweets and facebook comments, I hope Nintendo funds and secures their next 4 projects.

I don't understand this. The "relatively small audience" wasn't even big enough for Bayonetta to get a sequel without Nintendo's help in the first place. As for shelf space, Nintendo-published games always get the attention of retailers so I don't see how that's going to be a problem. If W101 was a PS3/360 game, I'm sure it'd sell on the level of Anarchy Reigns (which is to say, terribly). There is something to be said about a game being pushed by a first-party publisher as opposed to Sega.

I buy a console based on past, current and future releases, not just for 1 or 2 games. I buy consoles to play a lot of games, not just one or two. If the WiiU had more games I liked besides the PG stuff, I would buy one. Every once and awhile one game might sell me on a console, but usually that system already has more games I want to play or has many future releases Im interested in. Right now the WiiU has no games I have any interest in and only 2 future games from PG. I know Nintendo first party games are coming, but they dont interest me.

I dont connect with Nintendo first party offerings any more, well I should say their first party content on home consoles. I love my DSiXL and 3DS mainly because it has a ton of 3rd party support as well as a few first party games I like. I tried giving all the top rated games on the Wii a chance for several hours and I dont enjoy many Nintendo games any more like I did when I was a kid. I might buy a WiiU to play Bayonetta 2 and then give it to my nephew, but action game fans would have to give it very high marks. In the Bayonetta 2 thread from E3, I already said Im really disappointed in Sony for not funding the game, but they have passed up some quality games in the past like Demons Souls in the US. Nintendo money hatted Bayonetta 2 to get peoples hopes up that more quality 3rd party software would be on the WiiU. E3 WiiU 3rd party support was pretty slim and I dont see it getting any better when the new consoles release, the only hope is Nintendo pays for more 3rd party games, but I cant imagine they will spend a lot of money on 3rd party exclusives unless they are cheap.

Im done buying a Nintendo console because I really want to play one or two games and I hope more quality 3rd party games make their way to the system, Ive been down that road too many times and it never works out. Ive been burned too many times hoping Nintendo would attract future 3rd party support, even when they have the top selling console they have a tough time attracting good 3rd party support.

I can see why people love a lot of the first party Nintendo games and I dont blame them for buying Nintendo consoles just for those games. The art is great, the games are very polished, but for me personally I just dont enjoy playing them like I did when I was younger. I dont hate Nintendo, I just dont enjoy playing the majority of their games. Xenoblade was top notch, but that is a rare 3rd party iirc and one out of hundred of games on the Wii. If I dont like playing first party Nintendo games, it is a bad decision to buy a Nintendo console imo.

I'm indifferent to her fate, I quite enjoyed the first game immensely, but I'm not buying a wii U to continue her adventures, If anybody is causing Bayonetta to crash and burn, Its P* for choosing to make her exclusive to such an unappealing console. I wish them the best though, I can still play their older awesome games until they come to their senses.

If Sony or Microsoft wanted a Platinum game I'm sure they could get one made, I guess paying for timed exclusives/early DLC is more important to them than a P* game is.

Also over the years there have ben plenty of franchises who have moved from one console manufacturer to another, & pretending like Bayonetta was associated with either the 360 or the PS3 is inane, it was a Sega IP(so could end up anywhere).
