Where's the Platinum Games love?

Was the Monster Hunter crowd so resistant either?
Well to be fair most of the guys who seems to be not buying the games due to being on Wii U, weren't any frequent in the past p* threads.

Once the game came out everyone was happy with their console purchase. Same will happen for Bayonetta 2

Wait, was NG3 on Wii U exclusively first? I thought it came out on PS3/360 before hand?

NG3 was on PS360. NG3 RE had been exclusively on WiiU for 3 months (in Europe at least)

Oh well... So you might start hating every single game company out there. Remember Sony and the PSN hacking? Ugly, dirty and despicable commercial practice

Not sure I follow you here. Do you mean Sony was the mastermind behind the PSN hacking!?

I'm still hating Sony for holding Valkryria Chronicles hostage ;_;

The VC IP was born on PS3, I don't see the problem. It's not like you had Valkyria Chronicles on Gamecube or Xbox. Similarly I have nothing to complain about TW101 for example.

You don't? Instead you had the sequels on PSP. You'd have to get a PSP to play VC II.

Actually, there was not that much of a backlash when Tri went to the Wii. Then Tri G showed up on the 3DS and it was a wrap. Fanbase had no problem migrating from PSP. Nothing compared to the Bayo2 betrayalton, and MH was a bigger franchise.

Just one last thing and I promise I stop (I get carried away easily). I can't let you put Sony in the same bag here : can you give me one, just one timed exclusive on PS3?

Battlefield 3 DLC

Edit: You are muddying up the discussion with this "timed exclusive" business practice discussion.

You know Sega would not have published Bayo2. And Nintendo beat out everyone else to securing the publishing rights. And then they got P* to make the game. You are just salty. End of story.

There most certainly was a lot of backlash, considering the game was originally a PS3 game. People wanted their 'HD Monster Hunter'.

When the 3DS received Monster Hunter without any PSP or Vita versions announced, it only intensified.

Maybe for continued work, or to trade doing one of Nintendo's IPs or something of that nature. I mean, really, it's not likely, as I said, but I don't think it's impossible. You bastards aren't going to crush my vague hope, I WON'T ALLOW IT!

You can dream.

Wait, was NG3 on Wii U exclusively first? I thought it came out on PS3/360 before hand?

NG3 released on PS360 first for the spring of that year. The "NG3: Razor's Edge" revision was made for all platforms and launched around holiday of that year for Wii U. Then it launched in spring of next year for PS360.

I don't recall this ever being the case. It started off on the PS2 and only gained a large fanbase on the PSP. By the time the 3DS version rolled around, it wasn't much of an issue. The only backlash that I see is from Westerners even though there is a shitty version on PS3. You can see them in that thread about Chinese publisher Tencent licensing that franchise to make a PC version of Monster Hunter. Tri on the Wii didn't conflict with the then PSP versions and everyone eventually made a smooth transition to Tri on the 3DS.

What helped is that the 3DS was a super attractive platform in Japan and continues to be. Nintendo needs more titles like Bayo2 and 'X' to cultivate a similar atmosphere. Of course, they will never win over the #foreversalty but there is still a lot of work Nintendo needs to do.

More games, Nintendo.

Wow. The places this thread has gone. I guess I just had this vain hope that Gaffers are gamers first and foremost, and that people (especially Platinum fans) would want to play these games regardless of the platform they're on.

I have 3 of them :) Joke aside PSP was already very cheap when VCII released. If I could find a used WiiU for 70-80€ I wouldn't complain.

It seems easier to borrow a Wii U and play Bayo2 than spread all this venom against P* and Nintendo.

Honestly, if Mega Man in Smash is the start of the whole Sonic thing repeating itself I would be totally happy with that.

Capcom is not nearly as desperate as Sega :lol

Thought this was for Platinum love :(

I've been buying all of their games day one since Clover put out Viewtiful Joe 1. Was gonna wait on the Wii U, but Nintendo secured W101 and Bayo 2, so I knew I had to have it.

P* sucks because they cheated on PS360 owners. Haven't you heard?

Bayo2 was never supposed to be on Wii U or Xbox One or... PS4.

What do you mean, if you mean sonic games getting good, I would argue sonic team had it em, they got lazy. And sonic stayed popular even though his shit period.

But If you mean megaman becoming the name he once was, that process will be a lot more complicated. Megaman's last popular outing was an rpg, and fans of megaman seem to be split between , " I used to play these games in the 90's" the smaller group " I played battle network" the medium sized group and " I am this age what is this?" the large group. To repair megaman you gonna need alot, an anime, maybe two. Then you have to establish which fanbase or who you are going to try and sell it too. And a slew of other things, the reason megaman is in the whole he is in now, is because capcom neglected him , and when they did have him popular with the youngins they abused it.

Capcom has no effing idea what to do with the guy, x , zero,.exe, any of em. They need direction.

Sony snacked my beloved Final Fantasy.
It was born on Nintendo hardware, booo.

Depends where you are. Here in Europe Final Fantasy came with Playstation.

lol Damn that kind of shit must burn ryuzaki57 up. How dare Sony try to hide that shit!

Come on, it had been "exclusive" for a dozen of hours. Microsoft also put the Xbox logo on MGSV. Nobody is fooled by things like that.

Oh I don't think you needed to state that explicitly.

Was that rude? I apologize if so.

@Esura love your avatar pic. What is it from?

Neptune, the main character of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series on PS3 (and Vita with the upcoming spinoffs).

It might not be anytime soon but the WiiU will get cheap eventually like all consoles. So you'd still get to get your Bayo 2 on.

You are talking about all sorts of issues now and I can't keep track. What were your issues again? You like Sony and hate Nintendo. Anything else?

Wait wait wait wait. You hate the Nintendo situation with Bayonetta 2, but Sony and Final Fantasy is mostly okay because some places in the world didn't see the older games on the SNES/NES?

Because that's seriously how I'm interpreting that.

Also, this thread is entirely derailed. I kind of feel partially responsible too, sorry guys.

Burn down Sony for that dastardly Grand Theft Auto deceit and trickery over the years! For Final Fantasy XIII as well! And XV! How dare they pretend it was going to only be on PS3! Worse yet, the name is changed and it's not on PS3 at all! What's that? These things happen? Out of their control? Nothing to do with Sony at all?? Burn! Who cares about facts!? Just burrrrrrnnnnn!!!

Woah, seriously? I just assumed that they were publishers and nothing more, since Platinum is an independent studio. I feel behind as hell. So, how did Nintendo get this exactly, did they buy the license from Sega?

Not sure, but I think both Sony and Microsoft passed on the opportunity after SEGA canceled it and Nintendo stepped in. That's the story I heard.

Sega still owns the IP, Nintendo is just paying for the game to be made/publishing it.

Don't forget how they tossed icons like Crash and Spyro to the side to die and the numerous times they straight Xeroxed their competitors!!!

Patrick Star much? lol just kiddin.

Sega canned Bayo 2 and then Nintendo called and fully funded it. That's what we know.

When publishers fund games, they generally own the IP otherwise they would be investing in a brand without securing it. If developers owned the IP and a publisher funded it, there would be nothing stopping them from shopping for a better deal for a sequel from someone else.

It doesn't always work like this, but publishers usually own the IP. If P* had owned the Bayo2 IP, the whole "Sega won't fund Bayo2, Nintendo makes deal with Sega, salt salt salt" issue would probably never have happened the way it did.

Interesting, didn't know it worked like that. I assumed some kind of specific deal was made with publishers, sure, but I didn't realize it was so common from them to outright own an IP by an indie developer like that.
