Where's the Platinum Games love?

Because I'd rather not see it at all than on an underpowered system.

This is selfish statement. What makes it also a stupid statement is that if any publisher from Sony to Ubisoft to XSEED picked it up from Sega BEFORE Nintendo did, then Bayo2 would most likely show up on Xbox 360 and/or PS3. And if that's the case, then it would look and perform worse than it will on Wii U.

Bayonetta deserves to look as good as it possibly can.

If that's the case, then you would only accept it on PC.

Did Plat they even TRY to pitch it to Sony or MS? Or did they just go to Nintendo and took the first offer presented because they knew Nintendo was desperate for 3rd party exclusives?

Not only are you calling Platinum Games stupid here, but you are disrespecting their entire autonomy while also being ignorant of SEGA's ownership of the IP. Good job!

You mean like the PS3 and 360 releases it was originally intended to have?
Don't try to disguise your platform disdain as some sort of noble cause for the game to achieve visual perfection. It's the most transparent thing said in this thread, on multiple levels.

Yeah sure. So you would rather not be able to play the game at all? Newsflash genius: The game was originally intended for PS3 and 360. What now?

This post really knocks it out of the park on the stupidity scale. By that logic, the original Bayonetta wouldn't have existed.

I know people don't like the Quality > Quantity argument, but that's one of the main reasons I'm happy Nintendo invested in Platinum. They're a great studio, and that's the kind of output I want to be on the Wii U, not the most games or the game of the month, but straight up #CLASSICS every time. Platinum and Nintendo share's that similar philosophy when it comes to game play so I'm hoping they'd feel right at home.

Im not going to lie, i was somewhat irked at first but to be honest, Nintendo is probably the only publisher that is going to give platinum all the time they require, and allow them to stuff as much content into the actual game as they want, regardless of whether it may only be seen by 5% of players and would make more money as DLC.


Nintendo seem to put alot of stock into games being timeless and full of replay value. I actually love their lack of emphasis on story graphics and cutscenes and focusing purely on gameplay. Its just everything they make is so damn....cutesy.

My biggest fears were that Nintendo would mandate somekind of gamepad mechanic or they would ask for bayo to be "dumbed down" So far, this doesnt seem to be the case.


I just hope that Bayo 2 matches its predecessor in combos, weapons, costumes, secret missions, difficulty settings and powerups. Time will tell but its looking good.

If Nintendo buys platinum but allows them to basically be the adult expression of their philosophy towards gaming, I think id be happy with that. I just dont want platinum making cute and cuddly games for children and adults with nostalgia hardons.

As far as the gameplay mechanics go, I'm happy that Platinum decided to use the basic scheme while also adding the optional touch screen gameplay. I was so impressed at how well done it was in Ninja Gaiden DS that I wanted to see more action games attempt to use that input.

(I'm kinda sad that Sakurai didn't consider using the Circle Pad as a camera while controlling Pit with the Stylus over his final choice, but uprising was still a great game)

I'm actually looking forward to see if they created touchscreen emphasis that rivals the controller input.

As for the "Cute and Cuddly" I never got why people felt that way, because as a person who spends time coming up with game designs, both gameplay/character/story I can see that Nintendo focuses on Universal Appeal, while offering the later in other titles that may not get as much attention. But I never got the feeling of kiddy/cute/etc. I think people prefer not to give credit for most of the areas they touched, then beg for games like F-Zero and Starfox without paying their respects. Especially after being able to get my hands on the Operation Rainfall Games and the Hotel series, it's clear to me that they focus on everyone, and not one target demographic.
 
Bayo 2 on Wii U might be a really good thing for performance. P* doesn't need to bother with other platforms here and could optimize the game. Also I'm sure Nintendo helps them out if needed.
 
Nintendo buying Platinum is contrary to principles expressed by both companies : Nintendo fearing employee drain, Platinum wanting some degree of independence.

Nintendo playing the sugar daddy and giving Platinum carte blanche to do what they want, alongside any Nintendo IPs they might want to work on, though... That might be a beautiful relationship, beneficial to both parties.

The sheer Platinum presence at E3, both in terms of games and the appearances of various Platinum bigwigs, tells me there's probably more to come. Nintendo are closer to Platinum than any other third party.

Nintendo chose wisely, Platinum seems to be much easier to work with than say Silicon Knights.

Yeah, I'm really hoping the game runs at a solid 60 fps (like for example the FPS parts of RAGE).

So far all the Platinum games I've played (Vanquish, Bayonetta and MGR:R, all on xbox360) had inconsistent framerates (Vanquish had the most stable framerate out of the lot though, but it was only aiming for 30fps which helps). I really wish Platinum would put more care into making the framerate as consistent as possible, because it really affects gameplay a lot.

mgr will have the most solid framerate of them all once it lands on pc

but yeah the inconsistent performance on their 60fps titles is definitely a bummer
