Which company disappoints their fans most often?

Now a days?

I do feel sorry for Sonic fans.

Every Sonic game gets fans excited that SEGA have learned from their past mistakes and this will be an amazing return to form. Every release, it doesn't happen. Most people had low expectations for Sonic Boom - SEGA failed to reach even that.

I would have to say UbiSoft, they have taken over from EA.

The only other i would say is any company that Peter Molyneux owns or works for.

Blizzard. Known for such great games, except every time they release one there's always an issue or two that leads to disappointment.

The disappointment is always a vocal minority with Blizzard games. Even Diablo 3 was a fraction of the player base. Maybe for you personally I suppose, but they have been releasing amazing quality games for over 20 years now.

Lately, that is an easy one. And it pains me to say it, but Square Enix. I know they can never be like their Squaresoft days again, but anything would be better than this right now.

I'm inclined to say Nintendo as I've been disappointed by nearly everything they've done the past four years. Everyone else seems to think they hit grand slams all the time though, so what do I know?

No company has disappointed me more often and more thoroughly than Nintendo.

You're not alone, friend.

Definitely Sega and Konami. Both have a crapload of franchises to fall back on and only want to feed us a handful of franchises. You wants another Shenmue or Streets of Rage? Er...how about another Sonic game instead? Sega and Konami made so many great games back in the day. Castlevania? Gradius? What's that?

I mean I guess they get the most opportunities and they have the most IPs that get requested despite not having an entry it 15-20 years

I should prob correct that to Nintendo of America

Seriously, i would love to see that division gutted, and rebuilt with a team that actually gives a damn about their market.

in terms of how rabid the fanbases are percieved to be, i'd say nintendo or valve.

Yeah, every time a game comes up it's all "maybe THIS will be the one to save the Nintendo mindshare from plumetting further, Wii U saved confirmed!!!!!!!" and then it's just the... stark reminders of Nintendo's fading relevance with today's gamers, especially kids.

If I were that fan, it would break my heart.

I suppose Sonic fans haven't too happy with Sega over the past fifteen years

Nintendo? Let's be honest here. I mean, I can understand being disappointed in hardware features (I was with the Wii), businness decisions, account system but when it comes to games then you're just trolling

People saying Nintendo over companies like Capcom & SE ._>

It's all about expectations. Nobody expects anything but hot garbage out of the latter two.

Nintendo is disappointing because they make the greatest games on hardware nobody owns or wants to buy. They literally act like they hate money. An iOS Pokemon would clear so much bank it's insane.

Being a fan of a company sounds odd to me. It makes more sense to me to discuss in the context of company and franchise. But anyway, I suppose Sega for their handling of pretty much anything Sonic since the 16 bit days.

I'm not even a big giant square enix fan, but honestly? Square enix.

Personally though, I'd probably say capcom.

Sega.

Where's my next-gen Virtual On and Dragon Force?

Where's my new Daytona and Outrun?

Where's the new Nights, Shinobi, Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Cop, Sega Rally, Ferrari F355, Last Bronx, Worldwide Soccer, Fighting Vipers, Phantasy Star Online, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Legend of Oasis and all the amazing IP's you had in the 90's?

What the hell happened?

I see a lot of Valve and Nintendo mentions, but they're still releasing future classics so that's a little over my head, I guess.

I'd have to go with Square Enix, because they're disappointing to the point of antagonism. I still can't belive the FFVII announcement (or that Sony allowed them on stage to do that).

This is a weird thread.

No company purposefully tries to disappoint their fans, and none of the companies mentioned in this thread have continually done so.

Every company is going to make poor decisions, but all the companies mentioned in this thread have released some quality stuff over the last few years.

I'm with you but from a financial perspective I don't know how they could realistically make those games and make their money back. The development climate these days isn't really conducive to the types of games Sega made in the 90s.

Sega, Square Enix, Nintendo and Ubisoft.

They have all been pretty equally shitty in recent times.

Activision Blizzard (both sides) have gone pretty downhill recently too imo, Activision started that a long time before Blizzard though.

  • Square Enix: I don't mind their mobile games. I don't even mind their attempt at bringing FF VII to the PS4. What I mind is the way they present themselves and their products. As an example, the PSX stage wasn't the place for the FF VII announcement. Besides that, I don't have a deep hate for the XIII trilogy that many do. But when I see XIII, I see the problems Square Enix has now, which is just uninspiring, average games. Not even really bad games, just so mediocre for such a storied brand.
  • Sega: It's one thing to let their IPs sit and wither in disuse. You don't want to make Shenmue III or just plain aren't able? Fine. I can take that. Don't want to make another Vanquish? Fine. Whatever. What's aggravating is their terrible (non-existent really) localization efforts. I don't know how they could fix this, but it seems like they would have more financial success in the West if they didn't leave their fanbase hung out to dry, die and wither away.
  • Nintendo of America: No company's approach to business is more infuriating. It's simple as that.
